Per Grok

The National Weather Service (NWS), a division of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), experienced significant layoffs in 2025 as part of broader federal workforce reductions. Based on available information, the number of NWS employees let go varies across reports but can be summarized as follows:

Initial Layoffs (February 2025): Approximately 800 probationary NOAA employees were laid off on February 27, 2025, with estimates suggesting around 375 of these were NWS employees, as the NWS had about 375 probationary staff at the time. Some sources indicate that not all probationary employees were let go, but specific numbers spared were unclear.

Total Staff Reductions: By May 2025, reports indicated the NWS had lost around 550 to 600 employees due to a combination of layoffs, early retirements, and deferred resignations. This figure includes the initial February cuts and subsequent departures, representing about 10% of the NWS workforce.

Additional Context: Some of the initial terminations were rescinded after a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order, reinstating some probationary employees, though many were placed on administrative leave and not immediately returned to work. This created uncertainty about the exact number of permanent layoffs.

In summary, the NWS saw approximately 550–600 employees let go by mid-2025, with around 375 initially affected in February, though some reinstatements and ongoing retirements complicate the precise count. For the most accurate and updated figures, checking official NOAA or NWS statements or recent congressional reports would be necessary, as the situation evolved with reinstatements and new hires (e.g., 126 new positions authorized by June 2025).

These people are expendable. What they fail to realize is that so are they and their families.

And that’s the truly sad part - they lack the IQ to realize that once they’ve purged LGTBQ, deported black and brown communities, and stripped women of autonomy, all that’s left is a nation of poor, bitter white people who will be next on the list.

Just listened to a podcast on Medicaid cuts. We’re all going to pay for this. Those without Medicaid will get care in ERs once again. By far the most expensive and least effective way to get care. When hospitals can’t collect on millions of more visits, they’ll charge private insurers more. In turn, they’ll charge businesses more and individuals more. And then the stupid MAGAs might finally get it.

At one point this century of the ten richest men in the world they had one degree between them. and her starting her family vs killing the baby is wonderful. To try and shame someone is more successful than you financially this way is very indicative of how sad your life is.

Winner winner chicken dinner.  We all pay more.  Meanwhile, what happened to the 39.6% tax bracket?  Evaporated.  Well done, MAGA.

And they won't get a thing done.  Other than line the wallets of the oligarchs.  Because they function only on outrage.  Now that Riley Thomas or whatever that inconsequential swimmer is has tied for fourth instead of tied for fifth maybe they could get to some real work.  Like finding ways not to close hospitals and screw up medical care for all of us.

Exactly.  You'd think they'd remember COVID.  Maybe they're too busy not smoking and vaping and whacking down a fifth of jack and working out in the fields now that all of the Mexicans are in hiding.  But I doubt it.

The letter was signed by five former National Weather Service directors, including leaders who served under both Democrats and Republicans, like Louis Uccellini, who ran the agency under Obama, Trump, and Biden and warned that NOAA staffing cuts are already affecting response times and coverage.

But go off, tell us more about how they’re the ones pushing talking points while you’re out here ignoring experts.

Cool. Meanwhile, Trump covered up an Epstein-linked pedo ring... but sure, let’s pretend the real scandal is a doctor not talking. 🤦‍♂️
