No, that's always the Yankees. The Dodgers are built on pitching. But it is a bit fun to see things weirded out for once. It's always been pitching, and fantastic scouting, and positional coaching. Say anything you want, but the Dodgers have been built fundamentally sound every year since 1950. Quote

Buying? Sure. Who is the best pitcher they’ve developed since Kershaw? Their pitching coaching has wrecked more elbows than a bad plumber. 2 Quote
SinceThe70s Posted May 3 Posted May 3 @4merper4mer You're a Cardinals fan right? What's up with "The Lou" is that a thing - maybe a Brock connection? From the outside looking in gotta question the marketing guys. Quote

At least the uniforms aren’t crazy bad like most of the city connects. Quote

And agreed for the most part on the city connects. We actually like the Mets city connects, but many are god-awful. And while we're on topic for unis the Cardinals road blues are one of my faves. Also, he was slow as molasses. Suds hits a slow dribbler towards third. Third baseman had a cannon for an arm. Suds was running fast as he could, trying for an infield single. 3rd basemen runs up, fields the ball, and unleashes the fastest throw, delivers just inside first baseline, Suds was about to touch first base, and BAM! It hit Suds nose, blood everywhere, Suds went right down. It was a bloody mess. It was an awful sound, the ball impacting, the nose snapping. Poor Suds. He took it like a champ. https://www.instagram.com/share/_h4wjEXlm https://www.instagram.com/share/_h4wjEXlm Quote

It was either last year or the year before Lindor was having a really bad start to the season and my son broke out some new age stat that was a measure of how hard he was hitting the ball with the premise being he was making solid contact even though his batting average was abysmal. He ended up going on a tear the rest of the year and I filed it under things that make you go hmmm. I also like WHIP for pitchers, but for the life of me I can't wrap my head around OPS. And one stat that feels totally made up is WAR. 2 Quote

Are they going to include whether the wind was blowing in or blowing out in the calculation? Relative humidity? I need to better understand what constitutes a true HR. And while we're on the topic of HR's another pet peeve of mine is the disappearance of the HR fence. It used to be a lot simpler and satisfying to know right away whether it was a HR - it was either over the fence or it wasn't. These days there are too many times where we wait on instant replay to determine whether we're happy or sad on what used to be a definitive play. Quote
