Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell died Monday at his home in Boise, Idaho. He was 56.

Harwell had "many health issues," and died from acute liver failure, the band’s manager Robert Hayes confirmed.

I know it was a Monkees song but they made this song more famous.

The band is most known for hits like "All Star" and their cover of The Monkees' "I'm a Believer," which can be heard in the "Shrek!" soundtrack

Drank himself into oblivion.

Only one good song.

A sad ending for a guy who had a pretty good career in a business where most who try to make it in fail.

“Smash Mouth sold over 10 Million albums worldwide-wide, topped charts with two #1 hit singles, five Top 40 singles, three Hot 100 singles, four Billboard 200 albums, a Grammy nomination not to mention the hundreds of film and television placements and of course those musical features in Shrek.”

A lot more about that one good song:

That guy they wrote about, Matt Mahaffey, had a band with his brother called "Self." "Subliminal Plastic Motives" was a great album.
