There are times when you hold your hands up and say "the other guys get paid too." On the 3rd down defense generally the biggest problem has actually been 1st and 2nd down. The Bills distance to go on 3rd downs against this year is way down on last year. When we do a better job forcing teams into 3rd and long consistently we will see an improvement in those numbers. But it's also hard for me to believe a defense that was Top 5 for the last two years (and was fantastic at getting stops on 3rd Down), could suddenly drop off a cliff and instantly become one of the NFL's historically bad defenses in that same area.
