Lyrical Response

Was in a bar with a singer/guitarist and requested Harvest moon. Dancing with a lovely woman and fell over his open guitar case. Dollar tips and sheet music went flying. And the moment was gone…..

Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say

Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away

But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light

We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night

Because I'm still in love with you
I wanna see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

You tell me you're lonely, I know how you feel
Leaning up at the bars, rocking back on my heels
She's a wild bird that wanders, too easy to stray
I knew she had to lose me to find her own way

Oh, Corey, I'll be coming soon
Through the Louisiana pines to the Mississippi moon
Through the Louisiana pines to the Mississippi moon

Early in the evenin' just about supper time
Over by the courthouse they're starting to unwind
Four kids on the corner tryin' to bring you up
Willy picks a tune out and he blows it on the harp

Down on the corner
Out in the street
Willy and the Poor Boys are playin'
Bring a nickel, tap your feet

We don't make no party out of lovin'
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do

And I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all

They put a parking lot on a piece of land
Where the supermarket used to stand
Before that they put up a bowling alley
On the site that used to be the local palais
That's where the big bands used to come and play
My sister went there on a Saturday

Come dancing
All her boyfriends used to come and call
Why not come dancing?
It's only natural

Now everybody blamed his old man
For making him mean as a snake
When Amos Moses was a boy
His daddy would use him for alligator bait

Tie a rope around his waist
And throw him in the swamp
Alligator man in the Louisiana bayou

Old man, look at my life
Twenty four and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two

Love lost, such a cost
Give me things that don't get lost
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you

The continent of Atlantis was an island
Which lay before the Great Flood
In the area we now call the Atlantic Ocean
So great an area of land
That from her western shores
Those beautiful sailors journeyed
To the South and the North Americas with ease

Some of them were dreamers
And some of them were fools
Who were making plans and thinking of the future
With the energy of the innocent
They were gathering the tools
They would need to make their journey back to nature
While the sand slipped through the opening
And their hands reached for the golden ring
With their hearts they turned to each other's hearts for refuge
In the troubled years that came before the deluge
