For a WR that was injured more often than not and the Bills didn't even throw to him that often when he was here.

Sammy Watkins signed a 3 year, $48,000,000 contract with the Kansas City Chiefs, including a $21,000,000 signing bonus, $30,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $16,000,000.

Would you really be willing to eat that contract for a decoy? The Bills are rebuilding and there are 4-6 WRs in the 2019 draft class that could be first round picks. Perhaps the Chiefs will find a way to have him earn what he makes. I kinda doubt it though.

the downside of Andy Reid.

Not that I think Watkins is bad, or that someone else might not have given him that much...but he's got real deficiencies on the defensive side of the ball, money that could have been spent on that side.

For as good as their offense is, their defense is horrific.

They didn’t have a QB that was willing or able to throw to him at the time. Eventually you have to pay players, not everyone will be on a rookie contract. WRs make big $$ as do QBs and top CB’s then OTs. That’s the NFL salary structure, and thus far this FO hasn’t drafted a WR worth a damn. What makes anyone think they know how to evaluate players ? 5 teams wanted Watkins in FA. That pretty much says it all.

The Watkins Whiners really need to give it up already. He's not worth $16M a year. And you can repeat how terrible the Bills' receivers are until you are blue in the face -- that still doesn't make him worth $16M a year.

Deandre Hopkins in ten times the receiver Watkins is and he will make about as much. Watkins is the 65th best receiver in the league ATM yards wise and in my view not worth anywhere near what he was paid by KC.  Just because some team is foolish enough to pay him that much doesn't make him a top 5 WR.

How the Chiefs were built to take over the AFC West from the Broncos

DENVER -- The events of Nov. 15, 2015, at Denver's Mile High Stadium felt at the time like temporary relief for the Kansas City Chiefs. They ended years of frustration by finally breaking through against their longtime tormentors and AFC West bullies, the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs ended a seven-game game losing streak against the Broncos that day with a 29-13 victory. For added measure, they intercepted Peyton Manning four times before he was pulled from the game in what would be the future Hall of Fame quarterback's last game against the Chiefs.

The feeling of beating the Broncos looked to be fleeting. The Chiefs, despite the victory, watched as the Broncos eventually claimed a fifth straight AFC West championship and the franchise's third Super Bowl victory.

But that day's developments remain significant. They served as a turning point for the Chiefs and the AFC West as a whole.
