"Unless we build the Sports and Convention Center, New York won't get the Super Bowl and will lose out on hundreds of jobs, more than $200 million in economic activity and nearly $30 million in tax revenue," Mr. Bloomberg said in a written statement from Israel, where he is leading an American delegation to celebrate the opening of a new Holocaust museum.

THIS IS NOT TRUE! As long as the stadium has dome capabilities, it can host the Super Bowl whether its in NJ, Queens, Long Island, etc.

It being in Manhattan has LITTLE TO DO WITH IT!

So now the NFL is going to play that crap? !@#$ THAT! The Jets don't deserve a new Stadium, especially one that is paid for by us NY state taxpayers. Why the hell should our state cough up $500 million when we are already broke and people are fleeing in droves?!?! That's insane.

The state is making bones to fund the Jets stadium, but Ralph was left to wrestle with the county to do some refurbishing? No double standard there....

Not that gov't should be financing a private business that brings green in hand over fist.

That's the reason why Western NY will never grow and develop their economy until they separate themselves from the sh-- government that is always pro NYC and anti WNY.

There are so many other issues in NYC but yet it seems the politicans there are so wrapped up in getting a new stadium on the West Side and getting the Olympics there for 2 weeks so more stadiums can be built, and after the Olympics come in and cause immense gridlock etc...the stadiums become bare....

Got to love the fact their priorities are in order!! :blink:B-)

Just say no!!

Give Buffalo $400 million to build a new downtown retractable stadium

Bite your tongue! Recycle is the key to our future. Rehap the Ralph!!!

Build a new stadium downtown (on land that now pays taxes), what would you do with the complex known as the Ralph?

The Stadium becomes bare! Come on, like it or not, this proposed stadium will make so much money for NYC and the surrounding area. It will be the premier stadium venue in the world for musicians, soccer, football, you name it. Why do you think MSG and the Dolans have spent over $20m lobbying against it? What would Buffalo do with $300m? Build another subway that 100 people ride on a daily basis. How much tax revenue do you think actually comes out of WNY? Do you honestly think NYC would care if WNY left the state from a tax revenue standpoint?

 Now you are starting to sound like the morons that want to waste the $500 million on that stadium, especially the NYC mayor and Wacky Pataki.

I totally agree. But what boogles my mind is that the state is kicking in what, 500 million or something for this? That's only like a quarter of the PLANNED cost for this stupid stadium. For most stadiums that would pay for the entire cost. This stadium is a total waste.

Riiiight, because the brilliant minds running WNY will be free to use their imaginations to turn the place into a magical happy land once unshackled from the big city slickers. Believe what you want to, big guy.

I believe the Colts just got a new stadium deal to stay in Indianapolis.

And that's exactly the problem. Bloomberg and Pataki are so easy to commit city and state funds to this POS, and NYC will repeat the entire benefit. What a joke this whole thing is.

I'm counting on the Olympic Committee to do the right thing and give the Olympics to someone else. Then the whole Westside Stadium deal will die a nice, slow death.

That's my biggest beef with it. I have no problem with the Jets having a new stadium in NY, but it's wayyy too expensive to put it there. Move it to Queens or somewhere else. It would be much better off and the state would probably only have to cough up half of the $500 million.
