OC & QB coaches

Some of the best coaching hires in history have been retreads. I wouldn't mind looking at a guy who has been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1 of them, helped develop one of if not the best young QBs in the game, and has done it all with not exactly top notch offensive talent on the lines or at the skill positions. And this year they were not great offensively, but Wilson also accounted for 82.1% of his offense's yards, which is an NFL record, as well as a 34:11 TD:INT ratio. Not pounding the table for him, but still think he should be on the list, maybe even the short list.

Also open to looking for the next young up-and-coming guy, but can you give me a few ideas as to who that might be?

Thinking about this, I'll backtrack a bit on Bevell as he may deserve a look.  I was initially thinking about the goal line pass call in the SB loss to the Pats, which I think someone pointed out may have been an error by Russell Wilson as well as the type package the Pats lined up with.  My point was I just don't want another Dennison type choice for OC.  I don't have a particular position coach(s) in mind; I just wish/hope McDermott will approach this with an open mind, which too many coaches don't necessarily do...they'll hire who they know/are comfortable with.  I get what others are saying that an inexperienced position coach can be a gamble if you're not completely sure about them, but it may be a chance worth taking if someone with OC experience has been uninspiring in previous jobs.

Agreed that I don't want another Dennison type - especially if that means getting a guy who wasn't at the top of our list. I hope, if we do move on from Dennison, that the Pegulas hand Beane and McDermott a blank check for the OC search.

I'm not against taking a chance with some sort of up-and-comer who is thought to have an innovative mind for offense, which probably means a guy who really understands the modern vertical passing game, among other things. I know little-to-nothing about him, but believe Matt Canada has been the recent mention of this type of coach.

Well like I said he’s had success in the past. And I feel he’s an improvement over Dennison, no real major changes in scheme. Plus also experience alone at the multiple positions I feel helps.

McCoy runs the scheme that fits his players strengths.  In Denver he re did the offense after they benched Kyle Orton and Taylored (pun intended) to Tim Tebow's strengths and they won a playoff game with a TD pass.

I want him. First day on the job I tell him to go build us an offense for Hotrod like he did for Tebow.  Show him where the film room and tell him to get after it.

Use the draft picks to get the next project franchise QB and everywhere else we need it (OL/DL/RB/WR).

I disagree in the strongest possible terms with just about every word of this.

The "building the offense for Tebow" stuff is way, way overblown. That offense flat out stunk. The defense took them to the playoffs that year... not Tim Tebow.
