Plans for Bills first home game next year

I know the schedule isn't out yet but does anyone have an idea when it will be released? Also, my wife and I are newlyweds and part of the "prenup" was for her to become a die hard Bills fan. Lucky for me, she wanted to be one anyway.

We want to plan a fantastic weekend in Buffalo for the Bills first home game next year with a Saturday visit to Niagra Falls.

We need help/suggestions for:

How to acquire top notch seating somewhere between the 30 yardlines -

Great places to eat -

Really nice hotels -

Best rent a car company -

Must see sites or attractions time permitting -

Money is not an issue for anything although we don't want to be stupid and overpay for things we don't have too.

Any ideas or suggestions is greatly appreciated since this is our first trip together to see a Bills home game (we saw Bills at Jets last year in the Meadowlands).

This is also the first visit for me to a Bills home game since the Mike Ditka undefeated Bears came to town back in the 90's and the Bills crushed them.

We are really excited about this trip.............please help!!!

WE WILL BUY TWO GREAT SEATS FOR WHOEVER CAN COME UP WITH THE BEST PLAN FOR OUR WEEKEND!!!!!

Thanks,

Coach and Dorisel in Virginia

You can do what my buddies and I do...

Arrive Saturday afternoon. Go directly to hotel, unpack, shower/shave. Head to Canada for dinner and drinks. Enjoy the arts that Canadia has to offer, especially the Sundowner ballet. Arrive back at hotel around 3:30am. Hit up the Denny's across the street for some greasy food to sober us up. Go to bed around 5am.

Wake up 7:30am. Shower, drink lots of water/Gatorade. Head to the Ralph, start tailgating ASAP.

After the game, head back to the lot, grill a few more burgers. Head back to the hotel for a nap. Head back to Canada for another night out.

Might not be romantic, but the last time my buddies and I did this, it was one of the best weekend's of my life.

I appreciate the feedback but looking for something a little more romantic and sobering before the Sunday game.

I actually bought my tickets on eBay around May. I ended up buying 4th row seats on the 20 yard line for about $120 if I recall. A bit over face value, but definately worth it to me.

If you're staying in Niagara Falls, there are no really nice hotels on the US side, you have to go to Canada. The US side is pretty much a dump overall (I even grew up there, in Love Canal to be specific :w00t: ).

While in Buffalo, you have to go to Duff's and try their wings. Personally, they're the best wings I've had. Others think Anhor Bar and Grill are. Others have different opinions. Heck, try 'em all! :D

Car rental: Try using priceline or hotwire to get a price on those (as well as a hotel). There are actually sites you can use to "play the game" and get a good price with Priceline; my wife used it and ended up getting a car for about $30/day on our trip. I don't know the details, as she handled all of that.

Hope that helps.

Your whirlwind trip begins Friday, at the gateway to the Niagara Frontier with a perfect landing in the new and improved Buffalo/Niagara Falls airport. Directly across from the arrival gates, you can choose from any of the major rental car companies, but from Avis, we have selected a convertible class car (329 +tax) for pickup Friday.

Your first stop, Checking in at the Sheraton on the Falls (269 CDN) where you are a short, scenic walk to the falls, For dining, we have selected sumptuous dining in an elegant atmosphere, Casino Niagara’s own CAA rated four-diamond restaurant - Twenty One features a diverse menu of steaks, seafood and pasta selections.

After dinner, the nightlife awaits... Casino Niagara features over 96,000 sq ft of gaming space with a total of 123 gaming tables and over 3000 slot machines. Tables are accessible for persons with disabilities. Casino Niagara offers a wide assortment of gaming tables such as: Blackjack, Roulette,Mini Full Size Baccarat (12 players),Baccarat (9 players) Mini Baccarat (7 players),Caribbean Stud Poker,Big Six ,and Pai Gow Poker (Chinese Poker) .

Saturday morning will find you refreshed and in awe of the spectacular Niagara Falls views, spend the morning strolling along the Niagara Falls park and take a ride on the Maid of the Mist (10-15 Cdn).

After checkout, head back over the bridge to the Adams Mark Hotel, downtown Buffalo, Where a short drive away is the Anchor Bar, home of the Buffalo Chicken wing, served with an assortment of fine ales, your lunch is topped off with sovenier hot sauce and T shirts from the cradle of Wing movement.

After lunch, a quick trip along the Elmwood strip for some shopping and window browsing from local artisans and craftsman, take in the unique and diverse architecture along the Elmwood area and the Delaware park scene.

After visiting the Albright art gallery or just shopping along Elmwood, a trip to the hallowed grounds of Ralph Wilson Stadium to finish your afternoon, Greet the early tailgaters as they prepare for the beginning of the 2005 campaign, as you head to the Bills Pro shop adjacent to the Bill practice facility. Depending on your time of arrival, you may catch some of the players as they head home from practice!

Based on your mood, Dannys near the stadium is the usual home to the TBD pregame party, where dinner and drinks are shared, or head back to Buffalo for some more elegant dining and partying along the Chippewa district. a short cab ride from the Adams MarkHotel.

This vibrant area is now the cornerstone of the Buffalo nightlife and after dark crowds.

Sunday morning, Where else would you rather be, than right there, at the Ralph? Hammers parking lot hosts the TBD 6th annual tailgate, starting at 7:30Am (only diehards make it that early, 830 am in fine). After being greeted by TBD members, feel free to enjoy the wings, sausage and other delicacies from the TBD group. Your tickets to the game could be with these fine people, or through other sources (depending on your preferences).

Pre-game musts, include the NFL experience in the Bills Practice facility, and Pinto Kenny's pre-game extravaganza is a requirement for all new Bills fans (be there no later than 11:15, and stay close to the front!)

After the game, post victory celebrations abound in alll the parking lots, allow the traffic to settle before heading back to the Hotel, and continued festivities with Bills fans. Monday, catch the paper and the local news of the big win, and head back to the airport.

Alright...the key here for romance is not to go to the opener...but the 2nd or 3rd game when the leaves are in peak color. You probably get it down there, but it is a nice scenic drive through East Aurora....and if it is cold, stop for some hot chocolate along the way....warm?? stop for an ice cream at the fountain shop next to Vidler's 5 and dime....then take her in there for a neat time. East aurora is within 30 minutes of downtown, and the stadium.

Now with all this romance stuff......I'm assuming you want the opener because she said "Fine, I'll go to a game, but not when it's freezing." It is a total crapshoot on weather, but to make sure she is happy......you have to get her CLUB SEATS. Get them in row 8 or higher, since these are under cover, and heated. You can go inside a "private" club before, during, and after the game where it is heated and has a bunch of food and bar options...all concession, but an upgrade from a hot dog and a Blue. Face runs from $90-$150 with licence fees....and you can probably get them for near or even less than that on Ebay...or look in the classified on Buffalo.com

Now....if you do East Aurora in the 10-2 area......come back to your hotel and relax. For a hotel, I would suggest Downtown at The Hyatt Regency, or Adam's Mark. Both are classy enough, and right near some entertainment. You have to take her to the Anchor Bar, the home of Wings, which is right around the corner from those hotels (drive though!). There are tons of great places to eat, but this will give her some sense of accomplishment, "Ohh...we went where chicken wings started!".

After you have a few wings and beverage...head up to Niagara Falls..CANADA. If you go early evening, it should be 30 minutes or so from your hotel. The view is much better there..and more to do. If you are interested in casinos at all, I would pop in one of the two that are there......plunk down a few $25 hands of Blackjack...even if it's out of character for you...it'll get her hot. Don't bet enough to get her mad...just hot. There are a few decent restaurant/bars right there to have a drink or snack, Including the Hard Rock. There are a few touristy shops there, but you want her to just get a nice view of the falls. If you get there by 6PM, you can get the day and night view....both great. This way you can bail out by 10 or 11, and get some sleep before the game.

If you have club seats...I'd aim to leave for the stadium around 10AM. You'll be in the lots by 10:45.....and you can wander the lot for a bit and mingle. Everyone's a happy family, so feel free to check out the grills and tell someone you're up for the game. It's early enough, most will spare you a beer. After a half hour or so...go up to your club and grab a bite and relax at a table for a while. You can wander to and from your seats at will during pre-game...but make sure you're in your seats by 12:50 for the game.

As for rental cars....Hertz is my favorite, but they may be $5-10 more a day...but the cars are always clean and you shouldn't have a problem.

This plan is tried and tested...and you should have good results at an affordable rate. She should be happy...which will make you happy!!!...without having to lose your dignity.

Good luck...have fun....and donate the extra cash to charity if you like my plan.

Great suggestions are pouring in from all you fellow Bills fans and we are so appreciative of your support. I received this message from SeasontixfromClev member and so far this is definitely what we are looking for.

Captainhook and fezmid also have some great ideas.

Bills fans are awesome..........just like FAMILY!

Hey Coach,

I would recommend the new Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, ONT. There are a number of good restaurants in Nagara Falls, depending on your choice of food.

The Fallsview has a number of great suites, obviously with great views of the falls. The Casino is beautiful as well, if youre interested in gaming.

Enterprise rent a car would be your best bet, but any of the major car rentals will provide you with the service you need out of the Buffalo airport.

As you think about tailgating, it depends on your mood. I would recommend arriving at the Ralph fairly early and heading over behind the fieldhouse and you can catch the players arriving around 10 am and then make a stop into the Bills Team store to pick up anything you may need to help your wife become a diehard fan.

If you want more specific help on the restaurants let me know.

Good luck!!

If I may add after your ride on the Maid Of The Mist, and before dinner, I would HIGHLY recommend, It always get my wife's heart beating a little faster and it also gets her total wet, http://www.niagarafallslive.com/niagara_fa...ol_jetboat_.htm

Steaks to get your energy level up. ??? EBgreens.com Rated #9 steak house in the U. S. OF A. located in Hyatt Hotel in Buffalo

Of course game day should be spent sitting with the TBD group (If the TBD party is opening game)

Need tickets? I have extras on the 50 yardline upper deck on the sunnyside of the Ralph.?

I concur. When I took my wife to Buffalo for the first time, we went on the Maid of the Mist. She loved it.

It will be. A couple years ago, it was decided to keep it opening weekend because people can start making travel plans when they see what day that will be, rather than waiting a week or two while it's decided what game to attend. Plus it's early in the season so we'll have good weather and excitement for a new season.
