Venezuela's Fall Into Dictatorship

Recommended Posts

For !@#$s sake do some reading, I advocate for single payer (government run) healthcare. That is all. Keep the government out of the bedroom and off my guns. It's pathetic how you call people socialists for wanting improvements to a system that the government already has their hands in.

Read what you write -- or don't write it at all.

Know the subject of the thread, or keep your single payer crusade in another more appropriate thread.

The convo evolved to be about healthcare, !@#$ing geniuses around here I swear. Guess what it's a free country, you need to get used to young people thinking like me. When I become old and jaded, maybe I'll be more conservative.

Haha okay. Not regulated enough if you ask me. There aren't enough control mechanisms to keep prices down. People shouldn't be making huge profits off of healthcare, get used to more and more people thinking that way.

Reaper, everyone here, including me knows it won't be in a timely manner. Numerous people, including me, have said waiting times will go up for average citizens.

If hospitals don't keep their quality scores up, they get less reimbursement.

Have you considered that single payer might put some hospitals out of business?

Yes. Some hospitals close every day though. Single payer is not perfect, and would have lots of negative just like everything. Maybe it isn't even the best solution. The system currently isn't working. Reaper what would you suggest we do for healthcare to make it better?

Hospitals have to meet quality standards to get full reimbursement from the government. That is the incentive to provide quality care. Agreeing on the standardized prices is going to be the hardest part. It's a radical idea to shake up the market like that, a bunch of you old farts can't even wrap your head around it. My opinion is it will do something to curb the out-of-control healthcare costs. Clearly everyone disagrees, and clearly I don't give a !@#$.

My last project was in that industry - that specific segment, enforcing government quality standards on providers. If I can't wrap my head around what you're saying, it's because I've actually lived in that reality, and not your fantasy world.

People here have actual experience in things. You would be wise to occasionally shut the ever-lovin' !@#$ up and listen.

Thanks sweetie for another lecture. When someone like Tasker actually provides real solutions instead of just criticizing people for expressing their opinion, I tend to shut up and listen. Obstructing is easy, legislating is hard.

Stupid is easiest of all. Which is likely why you wallow in it.

Read what TYTT said in post#118 in one of the other healthcare threads. I like that.

Give me 20 or 30 years to get your experience. Then I will be lecturing young whipper snappers like you do when they are young, dumb and ignorant like me.

The one I already commended him on for being a great post? If I were you I would probably go with his answers too.

I'm a lot younger than you think, apparently.

I hope, when you get some life experience behind you, I'm around to see it. When you realize what a punk-ass little **** you are, it's going to be awesome.

You come across as a sour old man, looking to call people idiots any chance he gets. I'm fine with myself on the stadium wall and in real life, on here it's no holds barred and I lose more than I win. Guess what? I sleep great at night. Edited by gatorbait

You really are a prick. Healthcare has been debated on here for years and years. The conversation didn't start with your arrival and subsequent crusade here. You can take your smartass remarks and stick them up your ass.

Some of you guys are pathetic. And you have the nerve to call millennials soft? I have advocated for a few things that were opinion and I thought could help, get a **** storm for it and personal attacks, learn a thing or two and move on. If you call enough people idiots in real life you get punched in the !@#$ing face.

Forgive me for not reading through every thread on here, especially the ones with hundreds of pages.

We were being civil and you thought to be cute with your snide remark. Many of us have settled in on what TYTT proposed to you and I felt no need to reiterate it. You really are wet behind your ears.

"Please no stare at the dead bambinos, senor comrade"

5 Ways Capitalist Chile is Much Better Than Socialist Venezuela

"The story of Chile’s success starts in the mid-1970s, when Chile’s military government abandoned socialism and started to implement economic reforms. In 2013, Chile was the world’s 10th freest economy. Venezuela, in the meantime, declined from being the world’s 10th freest economy in 1975 to being the world’s least free economy in 2013"

There's big colorful "graphs" which are like coloring and pictures all in one....

http://humanprogress.org/blog/5-ways-capitalist-chile-is-much-better-than-socialist-venezuela

Sorry that I am a bit late with my comment, but I do not have much time during the day. So, richstadiumowner, you (or the blogger you quote, with or without out any further inquiry on your side) chose Chile as example of a well-working economy. Interestingly, the Chilean system looks much more European than US-American. After the Pinochet regime turned over the power to a democratically-elected government somewhere around 1990, the first two presidents were from the Christian Democratic Party, which is ideologically close to Merkel's CDU in Germany. Their goal was to establish a "social market economy", similar to the one in Germany. The Chilean presidents from 2000 to 2010 were socialists, and when you look at the colorful graphs in the blog, the economy still improved.

One item the blog emphasizes is the improvement in health care. The Chilean system mandates health insurance; about 80% of the population is enrolled in the government plan; 20% have opted out and selected private insurance. I could also go on about the investments the Government did to the education system.

Now, I would ask richstadiumowner to tell me again why Chile is a good example how to run the US economy.

The topic is Venezuela's inevitable slide to dictatorship because they embraced socialism.

Chile dumped socialism and is stronger, Venezuela embraced socialism and is at the door of death squads and mass graves like everybody knew they would be.

It was meant to be a North Korea / South Korea, East Germany / West Germany kind of comparison for the self described high IQ Lavrentiy Pavlovich Beria wanna be.
