1) The launch of the league's investigative arm put cooperation at a premium, given their lack of subpoena power. This is another example.

2) The guys cleared didn't do their fellow players any favors. This sets a bad precedent, cooperating w/o the NFL having credible evidence.

What precedent? It would have been unprecedented if they refused to participate in questioning.

 

The NFL gets to judge the credibility of the evidence, just as does any employer investigating workplace rules/contract violations.
