Bears | Shelton Interested in Joining Team - from www.KFFL.com

David Haugh, of the Chicago Tribune, reports the Chicago Bears have conducted trade talks with Vance Larimer, agent for Arizona Cardinals OT L.J. Shelton, who has been granted permission to seek a trade this offseason. "L.J. has said he would love to play in Chicago," Larimer said. "He and (tackle) John Tait got to know each other before the '99 draft. He is excited about the possibility of playing on the same offensive line as him." The Cardinals are reportedly seeking as high as a second-round draft choice in exchange for the veteran left tackle and there are said to be several potential suitors for Shelton's services thus far.

Not good news for those of us drooling about the possibility of LJ coming to Buffalo. Dangit!

The Cards will make whatever deal suits their team best. If trading him to the Bears for a 2nd rounder helps them more than trading him to the Bills for TH, so be it. However, it is up to the Cards what deal really takes place, where LJ "wants" to play is not important.

Wing -- Shelton is like the bachelor prince and Az is the king telling him whom to marry...there is a similar article in the St. Petersburg paper today quoting Shelton's agent as saying he would love to join the coaching staff of the Bucs.

Shelton also loves the Bucs

If we want him, we can get him. No one else is going to offer Az. an established, multi-year 1200+ yard rusher for him--and they are the decision maker. From Shelton's perspective, no one else in the mix has one of the top 2 or 3 Offensive line coaches in the game. Noone else has his cousin on their team.

This is the courting phase -- and we are the most vivacious girl from several perspectives. We are Cinderella-- Do we want him is the question....

so he said he would love to play in Chicago, Tampa, Buffalo or 8 other teams - but thats what agents say to generate buzz.

However - Shelton actually visited Buffalo this week and took a physical - that is more than just spin talk.

Agreed! No one made Shelton come to Buffalo to get looked at. The very fact that he came here has to indicate some interest. It can't hurt to have the best offensive line coach in the NFL on the staff.

Didn't you read the headline? Shelton doesn't like girls, he likes bears.

(Someone should tell him those claws hurt if the lucky she-griz is a scratcher).

Hey, lets not kid ourselves, he might not come here. It's not like we're making a trade for a knockout player with no downside. Ultimately it would make sense for both teams, but I can tell you as a Bills fan who resides in Phoenix, knowing Dennis Green, he is very very unpredictable. Look, the guy is thinking about bringing in Brad Johnson as his new starting qb!! Brad Johnson, now granted, the guy had some solid years under Green in the early 90s, and yes he did win a Super Bowl, but there are other options.

My point is that Green does what he wants, not what always makes sense. So, as much as I want this to happen, I'm not goiong to be terribly dissapointed if it doesn't.

I'm not overly thrilled about Shelton - the guy who would be protecting JP's blind side.

Shelton's not good in space, has a bum ankle.....well at least we'll get to see all of JP's athleticism if Shelton joins us.

Or, what if Anne Sullivan, err excuse me, Jim McNally - the Bills' "Miracle Worker" could get big fat-ass Mike Williams to live up to his #4 pick in the draft status and earn his keep at LT?

Shelton could do as well as MW at the RT position - and do it a LOT cheaper too!

Maybe the trade should be Shelton for Mike Williams.
