He obviously spent a fair amount of time in the part of the world where everyone you encounter may be out to kill you. Every day he had to wonder if he drove down a certain road if he was going to run over an IED. In the meantime he had to check for snipers on roofs and whether or not that woman in the burka had a suicide belt on. While catching some food or sleep in a "safe" area he also had to worry if that Iraqi Sergeant was really a radical hell bent on blowing him up. Having experienced that, it's no wonder that a person might have a good deal of animosity towards a certain group of people. It would seem obvious to me that the radical arm of Islam is not compatible in any way with western civilization. Sharia Law, genital mutilation and boppin boys doesn't fit in with us.
