I don't see how anyone can really blame the coaches for this loss, when the team was moving the ball pretty well all day and just couldn't execute when they needed to, and the defense for the most part played lights out football. They kept a very real playoff contender with an all pro receiver and RB out of sync all day. they only scored 17 actual points, and the Bills should have realistically put up 24 to 27 if they executed better.

I liked the 4th down red zone call, I didn't like the stupid draw offsides 4th down call though, but again, if these plays work, nobody would be a critic, we would be praising them for being so gutsy, just like everyone did against the vikings. I'd love to see a lot less over-reaction around here than there is, I'd like to think we're better than that, and I have had the opportunity to see less evolved fans in other cities, like where I currently live.

If there were less stupid soul crushing fumbles and we had a pro bowl QB, Marrone and Hackett would be seen much differently.

Homey, the 2nd to last drive where they pound the ball down the field into the red zone, and then go empty backfield 4 plays in a row. That is a tactical error, especially since Orton is a statue who does not posses the speed of a rapelisberger, rg3, vick,or Wilson.

I coach other sports at the high school level throughout the year, but there have been a few losses that have left me restless for the night, where I cope by drawing up new plays, altering practice plans, and casually drinking Captain Morgan during the one man inquest. There have been rough seasons where after trying to do everything in a night, I just flip on a movie or play Madden.

I commend the coaches whose job is to do this. The NFL coach has to work their asses off during the season. These short rest Thursday games put them in a crunch, much like a quick deadline on a big project in other jobs. Should the Bills win Thursday Night, they will probably reward themselves with at least one day off this weekend.

One would think that would be in violation of their eviction notice.

And Brian Hoyer beat him senseless. And Drew Stanton and Carson Palmer have combined for the best record in the league. And Mark Sanchez is 1-0. And Trent Dilfer won the Super Bowl.

I don't think anyone would argue that our defense is extremely good. Add to that Watkins, CJ, Freddy, and Mike Williams and we have known established weapons on offense. That should be enough to mask some weakness at QB. Instead we get Marrone's pettiness benching Williams ---after he already dumped Stevie --- lack of proper use of Goodwin, "about right" usage of Chandler, fascination with the substandard Brad Lamb, marginal use of Woods and regression of the OL.

Like I said. 12 win talent.

Williams was highly ranked coming in the league and done little with anyone

Lots of folks on this board agree with not keeping Stevie

Goodwin is battling injuries all year. It's hard to use a guy properly when he's out due to injury

Watkins is having a great year and is out performing expectations for him in his rookie season (leading Rookie of the Year voting)

We've added a lot of pieces and addressed our horrible run defense from past years. If we had a QB we'd be right in there. My point is this - they are not enough top quality qbs for everyone. I have no idea how Indy got so lucky to have one terrible year as Luck was entering the draft. We've addressed defense, I think we have developing talent and size at O-Line but they are learning still. We have an upgrade from Fitzpatrick but we do need to find the long term guy. We are building in the right direction but without that QB we are not a 12 win team in this league.

Why is Arizona going to win 12 games in THAT division with Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton at the helm? Mike Williams has done a damn sight more than Brad Lamb. Plus we went out of our way to trade for him. He clearly could have been more helpful than a kickoff specialist on Sunday. I find it quite funny that Marrone knows we can't score yet keeps a kickoff specialist active. THE ONLY TIME WE USE HIM IS WHEN WE SCORE.........WHICH WE DON'T. He might as well add Beerboy to the actives.

but when that specialist puts it out of the end zone you better believe our coverage guys will be there.

Carson Palmer is a franchise qb, time will tell on Drew Stanton. I'm mot sure that they will be a 12 win team when all is said and done. I'm not sure that we went out of our way to get Williams, I think we got him, like we did with other players some of whom have been solid additions. I like to use facts to drive decisions. The facts are that the AFC this year is a lot more competitive than the NFC. Despite this we are 5-4 and arguably could have been 7-2 (Texans and KC). We have a pretty challenging schedule this year - Pats twice, Broncos & Chargers to say the least. That's 4 games that I believe a franchise level qb would be useful to say the least. 12 wins are never easily come by. I do not think anyone had us down for 12 wins before the season.

Facts?

Maybe nobody had us down for 12 wins before the season but our defense has played so exceptionally well, often handing our O spectacular field position while surrendering minimal points, 12 wins should certainly be within range even with an average QB.

It is hard to deflect the reason we are 5-4 away from the coaches but you are trying real hard. 4 or 5 times every game there are calls that need to be made from the side and when we're on O we seem to botch them all. Some are so obvious too. 4th & 10 from the opposing 15 down 4 with 2:30 and 3 times out? What percentage of real NFL coaches "go for it" there? Approaching 0%. And whether you like it or not, if you do decide to go for it, Mike Williams is factually a much bigger threat than Raggedy Andy, which takes a little heat from Chandler, Woods and Sammy.

If we dont laugh, we cry

CBF

Amen, eh?

At some point during this decade+ dry spell even George Costanza would've invoked the "opposite day" rule.

How about ... everyone just go home and rest. Maybe this is really just really a football game coming up and not, say, a multi-force landing at Normandy. I don't really think our staff is comprised of a lot of record-speed Rubik's cube solvers anyway.

Doug: Wanna make pizza rolls in the microwave?

Doug: But Mr. Brandon says we're not 'apposed to.

Doug: Don't be chicken.

Doug: But he said!

Doug: We'll be really quiet.

Doug: I don't wanna wake him up. We'll never be able to have a sleep over again!

Ok this is my last stab at this.

  1. Our defense has been great but not perfect. The 4-1 touchdown for starters, bone head penalties that keep drives alive, lack of scoring points like great the defenses do. Arizona has 3 defensive TDs to our 0. These are game changers
  2. Take away the Bryce Brown fumble and the McKelvin fumble and there is no way KC win that game even with Williams out of the game.
  3. If Williams was the answer there is no way Tampa would have basically given him to us before the season. He is talented but he has character issues that distract from the mission. He is not talented enuf to make is worth our while to try and incorporate him.
  4. Last year the only teams that were 12 or more wins were Patriots, Broncos, Panthers, Seahawks and 49ers. That's a lot of teams with more complete mature rosters that did not make the 12 wins. We are still without a great O-line (its improving) and a top tier qb. When the O-Line clicks fully our running game will get back to 2012 levels and our red zone % will improve.

Our roster is good and talented but still needs time to reach it's potential
