But he’s OK with that. Know the enemy: Lions on Buffalo DE Mario Williams The Detroit Lions understand Jim Schwartz's defensive scheme. There's no doubt about that as the former Lions head coach returns to Detroit as the Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator. Personnel, though, is like every other week. Like he did in Detroit, Schwartz has a defensive line built to fluster and harass opposing offenses. One of the biggest leaders off that defensive line is former No. 1 overall pick Mario Williams. The Bills’ defense is second in the NFL in yards per carry allowed, third in rushing yards allowed per game, fifth in third down defense and eighth in points allowed. Just read this in the Chris Brown piece "No weak links allowed on defense". Can you imagine how good the defense would be rated if they actually had an offense that was staying on the field long enough to put up 7pts regularly? All of the news about the Lions defense has me thinking that the Bills defense is somewhat overlooked. You can bet this unit is going to be bringing some heat tomorrow. Was just noticing also that the Bills are not the only team with offensive line problems. The Lions are allowing a lot of sacks and they are banged up at some key positions too. This game is winnable. Won't be easy going on the road to get it, but the D isn't going down without a fight. Now all we need is some offense. FLFan Posted October 4, 2014 Share Posted October 4, 2014 The secondary is going to have to play better than they have so far. They have been beaten deep and Stafford has a cannon for an arm. Possibly a break if Johnson is not fully himself. If they can keep the Detroit receivers in front of them and avoid the bombs, they have a good chance of staying with the Lions and winning the game.
