Bucky Brooks gives the Bills a C+

Recommended Posts

What grade would Bucky Brooks give the Bills for wasting a 2nd round pick on himself in 1994? He should be ineligible to criticize the Bills drafts.

Well, to be fair everyone's entitled to their opinion. And his employers while he was a scout had the opinion that you shouldn't have porn on your work computer, which is why he's on NFL.com.

Grades are fun ways to excite/rile up fans. Regardless of good/bad/indifferent, people still read them, so why not write em?

Every draftnik, if Brooks can be called a draftnik, that has given the Bills a less than stellar grade, has done so because they passed on a qb several times. I guess, according to them, qb's are the only ones to win football games while 32nd ranked run defenses aren't a problem.

Then ALL OF THESE PEOPLE ARE THE ONES THAT SAID QB ISNT A RIGHT AWAY NEED BECAUSE WE HAD FITZ AND EVERY QB IN THIS DRAFT HAD HUGE QUESTION MARKS!!! SO IF YOU CANT GET THE GUY YOU WANT WHY REACH?...AND EVEN CAM,OR PONDER WOULD HAVE SAT FOR 1-2 YEARS!!! SORRY BOUT THE CAPS

Let's be fair to Brooks. He wasn't a bust -- he suffered a very bad preseason knee injury and was never the same. Big difference.

Well..I think the thing that they are missing is, when you have as many holes as The Bills do, you can't fix everything in one Off Season...The Bills stuck to their Board and their Scouting and decided that the QB's they wanted were all gone, so it was time to fix The Defense...I'm not sure how much more they could have done in Rounds 1-3 with only one pick per Round...But what also needs to be considered is the general disregard for The Bills Scouting Staff and the decision makers at OBD...It's been years of REAL bad Drafting and REAL bad decisions...No one in the National Media has faith , and truthfully for good reason...I joked before the Draft that I had no idea how good a QB Blaine Gabbert would be for The Bills...What I did know is if The Bills passed on him he would go on to be the next Montana...It's just the way things have gone in Buffalo over the past 10 years or so...

If you have a Need at QB, even if it's not as much of a Need as say, Tennessee or Minnesota...It's ALWAYS going to be considered the #1 Need by default...It's a QB's League and everyone knows it...While Fitz had some very good Games in 2010 he had a few stinkers in there as well, and his Career numbers are still WAY off what you would expect from a Franchise QB...So I'm not surprised at all that these Draft Guys give The Bills an average Grade for not Drafting a QB...Especially at #34 Overall...The true test will be in how well this young Defense plays in 2011...Because if they even move to average against the Run they will win 6-8 Games...And if that's the case most of these Draft Grades will be incorrect...But if the D still struggles and Fitz backslides then I can understand their line of thinking...They have no faith in The Bills Organization...They are assuming the worst...And unfortunately for good reason... B-)

Well, I know he played for 5 teams in 5 years and was switched from wide receiver to defensive back.

I'm not quite sure how much his lack of success had to do with injury…but I would also say that he was probably (and ironically because of him grading the Bills draft) just another bad draft pick by the Bills.

He went from a 4.35-4.4 guy (a real blazer) to a 4.5-4.6 guy with less ability to cut. The fact that he hung around for as long as he did speaks to his perseverance. As you'll recall, prior to his injury Kelly went on and on about how great he was in camp.

Well a C+ is a passing grade - actually a bit better. Given the number of recent drafts we've 'failed', a C+ is pretty good.

At this point it is difficult to rate our draft any higher than C or C+. Of the 9 we drafted, odds are 4 will wash out, 2 may become starters and 3 will be spot players/special teamers, Not great. but better than in past years.
