Thud
Need to run and stop the run. I don't see how they've appreciably improved the "stop the run" part --- our biggest weakness --- in this draft. Uh yea the best lineman and two solid inside backers did absolutely nothing to help........ Edited April 30, 2011 by Thud
RyanC883
We'll get a marginal boost from Dareus. But to think he's going to magically cure the DL in place of Stroud is foolish. Our LBs are questionable at best, and there is **** for depth at this most-frequently-injured position. Searcy will improve our run D? That's funny, considering that outlooks say he 'shies away from run support.' Depending on DBs to stop the run, as this team has done, and from the looks of it, will continue to do for the near future, is a recipe to continue being 32nd D because you're getting your ass handed to you by the other teams' RBs / "mobile" QBs. You make some points, but remember FS Sanders from the Colts? He was a major factor in their run D, they were great when he was in, and sucked when he was out. You don't think on player can have a huge impact on a D. Look at the Colts with and without him, and look at the Steelers with and without Aaron Smith. Dareus and Searcy should have these impacts on our team. Searcy loves to hit, so whatever scout wrote he "shys away from the run" is a moron. BTW, from your flawed post it's clear you went to UCONN and not Syracuse
Thud
Did you notice Uconn didnt give an answer? Woulda bitched if we had all first rd picks. Cant make em all happy. I say hurrah for addressing need and support these players. WELCOME TO BUFFALO!
AF88Bills
they keep on drafting southerners to play in a a Cold Weather, Hard Nosed City that's because that's where the best footballers are...
Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail
Need to run and stop the run. I don't see how they've appreciably improved the "stop the run" part --- our biggest weakness --- in this draft. You say this, then suggest we draft a TE instead? That is a mighty weak argument. Glad you aren't making the picks.
DrDawkinstein
At that pick, Luke Stocker. Provide some immediate relief to the OTs with his size, and whatever he would bring as a receiver would be gravy. You say we didnt help the Run Defense, and then say you'd pick a TE?!? Are you high, son?!? Dareus IS the magic bullet for this DLine. He immediately makes the rest of the Front 7 better. A Front 7 that also just got a great LB added in Sheppard, and will have Batten and Merriman coming off injury. Dareus was THE run stopper in the draft. No one else is even close. metzelaars_lives
they keep on drafting southerners to play in a a Cold Weather, Hard Nosed City That's a really good point. The reason Brett Favre would win games in sub-zero temperatures going sleeveless in January in Lambeau is because he's from the Yukon Territory. DrDawkinstein
LOL Suzy Kolber: "Going from the heat of the South, to the cold of Buffalo. What do you think?" marauderswr80
Personally........i think playing football in the cold is much easier then the heat. If players cry cause of the cold they probably shouldnt play football.
shoretalk
Need to run and stop the run. I don't see how they've appreciably improved the "stop the run" part --- our biggest weakness --- in this draft. Now I understand why you have the Dr. Who icon .... you have been in another dimension because this draft is all about stopping the run! And, we have the players who can do it. GREAT DRAFT Buddy!!! That Jasper kid is a WOW ... someone needs to find some game tape!

ieatcrayonz
Actually perhaps we should be drafting exclusively from Canadian Colleges and Universities…do they play American Football in Siberia? Canadian colleges. Good one.

BuffOrange
ray lewis born in florid clay matthews born in california patrick willis born in tennessee ed reed born in lousiana troy polamalu played at USC what this means? STFU you whiny typical bills fan. It makes about as much sense as your cliche-filled OP. If you don't think we need a really good QB/OT you're kidding yourself. But that doesn't mean I take issue with passing on some Missouri project that played 2 years in a gimmick offense. It's about the player, not the position, duh; and none of these QB/OT's appear to be as good as Dareus. Edited May 1, 2011 by BuffOrange
808
Yes, because drafting the best run-stuffer in the first round, a round-stuffing LB in the 3rd round, and two physical, oversized DBs definitely won't improve our run D. Gotcha. And drafting one of the top road-grading tackles won't improve our running game. exactly
EndZoneCrew
look at the last 4 teams this year. green bay, pitt, jets, bears. all have hard nosed defenses. Aaron Rodgers, Ben Rapelitsbuger, Dirty Sanchez, and Jay Cutler (all 1st round picks) probably help too
