metzelaars_lives
yes, i am a football addict.. cannot help it. totally devoted to the buffalo bills, could care less about world peace or other issues . but that is just me, and like always, i agree with you on this point.. GO BILLS! (btw, who is mitch hedberg , jim gaffigan?, never heard of them) Who is Mitch Hedberg? You may want to youtube him. Couldn't care less about world peace or other issues? Very telling. The fact that there is constant corruption, war, disease and child starvation in third world countries around the globe concerns you not at all, but whether the Bills play a 3-4, a 4-3 or some sort of hybrid defense preys on your mind night and day? I'm happy to be on team liberal, Dwight in Philly. And by the way, for all you pencil-nosed Reaganites (PCU reference), allow me to recommend the Reagan documentary on HBO. Well worth 2 hours of your time.

HankBulloughMellencamp
I agree that in his current situation, Bulldog has become a bit stale and perhaps a bit too much of a lapdog for Schopp's pompous thoughts. But I will chalk it up to Bulldog being a team player, being a professional, and doing what he is being directed to do. Like you and I, he surely has bills to pay and a keen interest in keeping his job. Unlike Schopp, I really think he enjoys his job for the most part. If I hear Bulldog on alone, I can stay with the broadcast far longer than when they are together (or worse yet, Schopp is ranting solo). Does anyone know if their "vacation time" is mostly legit, or does WGR squeeze costs and lay them off here and there?

I know I'm in the minority, but I actually turn it off when it's either one solo. Schopp is definitely less edgier when he's a alone......They do get so much time off, it's ridiculous. I emailed the Program Director last time that they should change the name of the show to Schopp OR The Bulldog.

Who is Yuri?
I've been trying to listen to WECK only. I listen to NPR in the morning, for the news, O'Loughlin is good, and have to wait until 4 for Brad. It's been good for me. WGR is so mind numbingly stupid, I feel better overall not listening. I certainly don't tune in for the mid afternoon frat-boys Colin or Rome. To each his own, but listening to WGR550 makes me want to send hate mail to them, and in this day, and climate, I'm worried that they would report me to the FBI, or sign me up for junk mail. I feel much more sane and informed with WECK. If they had local non-corporate programming from 1-4pm I would listen.
gball77
A couple of opinions: * Bulldog can't complete a sentence without stuttering, it is a joke that he is on radio. He can't even read the question on match game, it is brutal. * Riter's undoing will be his unwillingness to step aside and focus on being a PD. He has stated he has no intention of stepping away from the microphone. His ego will cloud his judgment. He will protect his own spot and not hire anyone who is a threat. Absolute power is never a good thing especially with an on-air talent. He clearly enjoys being the head person and surronds himself with followers. He wants us to support his local station, yet he won't take any local calls or rarely does because we listen for his opinion. Please stop referring to his 20 minute rant as a manifesto, Riter stuggles as bad as Bulldog with the stammering, very unpolished as a talker. I hope for his sake it was not written because he stammered through the majority of it. * Mendola has potential and actually comes across as a likeable personality. Hate when he sings but his craft beer show is good. * Howard Simon needs to take time off because his voice is annoying right now, I have no clue why Jeremy White doesn't handle more of the hosting duties while Howard's voice is going through puberty. Bush league * Mitch Hedberg was great, you should look up his material if you never seen him perform. Don't bother if you think Dane Cook or Carlos Mencia are funny. tonyjustbcuz
I'll be quite pleased to see WGR take a big hit over the next few months/years. Their product is too often painful to listen to (eg: dead-horse topics of the day and even lamer actor/state drafts). I have basically tuned out in recent months. Get the excellent (and free) "TuneIn Radio" app on your Android smartphone and start listening to Brad if you have not already done so. I turn on WGR at 6 a.m. when I wake up in the morning. I usually know what they are going to talk about as they are very predictable. They often cover the Sabres and talk about the game the night before, but I sometimes get a little frustrated with Howard Simon. There are many times when there is either a Sabres game or some type of sporting event the night before that they will discuss, but Howard usually say's something about how he caught some of it and went to sleep after a perior or two, or at half-time of a football game or whatever. It kind of a waste of time listening to coverage and as far as I know the leading sports authority in the room in Howard when he had to go beddie bye prior to the games conclusion. I leave for work around 6:30 a.m. most days..will listen to a few minutes on my car radio and start to get bored with their continued conversation on the same topic. So I listen to something else instead until I get to work at 7 a.m. I drive a school bus and after I have unloaded my last child at school I will turn WGR back on just after 9 a.m. and believe it or not those same guys are talking about the same points they were talking about 3 hours earlier! They just keep regurgitating the same information! Sometimes, I swear they just play back the 6 a.m. portion of the show, but that would be pretty sorry! Nothing worse than going back at 3 p.m. and they begin to talk about the points brought up in the a.m. show..and kickstart the same lame subject as in the morning! Half the time these guys talk about stupid stuff like the Grammy's, American Idol, favorite type of pie for Thanksgiving, and many other stupid, non-sports related topics that I don't tune into a Sport Radio Station to listen to! What I don't understand is how the heck did they ever win a Marconi award? Macaroni award maybe? But any type of sports related award is absurd! The Best thing about WGR550 AM was when they used to have the Coach Chuck Dickerson talking football ! I didn't care how abrasive he seemed, as he was very knowledgable, opinionated, and never boring! and as Chuck always said "Who Loves ya baby" !!! It's just bad juju to always let everyone know that you don't make much money or have much money. Nobody cares..the wealthy certainly dont, and the people who have less than you do would give anything to be in your positon! So please stop it! bbb
I'm the same age as Howard, but he acts like he's 30 years older than. Doesn't know technology, not watching games, being a tightwad, etc.........Now what is up with his voice? I couldn't figure out who I was listening to a week or two ago, and then figured out that Howard's voice must now have turned into an old man's voice, since the rest of him did years ago. CardinalScotts
bill maher is funny??? , i guess, if you think elitist humor is , miller is a guy i would love to have a beer with. loved him on monday night football, maher, probably thinks football is mindless, played by greedy athletes who would be better served working in the peace corps ..usual liberal drivel.."I'm now a conservative" mea culpa. , miller stated he became one after 9/11. Maher and miller are both funny
joemac
I like Maher and I used to like Miller. However, Miller became very partisan because of OJ and 9/11 and hasn't looked back. I am neither a liberal or conservative but rather a pragmatist. You have to look at each issue and decide and then find the person closest to you. If you blindly follow one side, which Miller is wont to do, then I have little respect for you.

metzelaars_lives
maher is not a partisan???? Oh my God. Friday morning and this is still going. Listen you bozo, I have watched virtually every episode of Bill Maher since he came to HBO. Like other rationalists, he leans left on most issues. More than anything, he cannot believe that in 2011, religion still dictates a good percentage of Americans' sociopolitical beliefs and it irks him. For instance, I feel this way about that issue because the Bible says so. Sorry, not gonna think for myself on that one. This is a way of thinking that is seen almost exclusively from your side, Dwight in Philly. That being said, he is CONSTANTLY playing devil's advocate, that is part of his shtick. He is CONSTANTLY calling out Obama. He is CONSTANTLY calling out Democrats for not standing up for what they believe in the way Republicans do. You clearly don't watch the show, which is fine, I'm happy to enlighten you. Bill Maher couldn't be any more bi-partisan for what he does. Bill O'Reilly, as much of a jerk as he is, is also bi-partisan. O'Reilly called out Rush Limbaugh for constantly referring to Obama's policies as Socialist, which is one of the more ignorant, outlandish claims in modern American history. Listen, Dwight in Philly, to quote George's boss in an earlier episode of Seinfeld, "this is why I'm a winner. I'll always be a winner. And you... you'll ALWAYS be a loser." Please drop it.
