The era of the Ralph is quickly coming to an end. It's been a heckuva ride, but change is not necessarily a bad thing. Butt it up next to the falls, give it a retractable roof, with the understanding it stays open for all Bills' games. It would be a wonderful venue in a popular setting, instantly giving the wonderful Niagara area a much needed shot in the arm. Thoughts? I am so sick of hearing calls to built a stadium near the Falls. I don't think having a stadium in the the Niagra Falls area makes any sence at all. Economic shot in the arm? Wake up, the whole fricken reagion needs a shot in the arm and frankly who gives a crap about a tourist trap on the edge of a big cliff. You can argue that its closer for Canadiam Fans, but really if you look at the post game blotter, they seem to only show up to drink their a**es off, mouth off to an OP copper and get arrested. I feel that the heart of Bills Country is in the whole of western NYS including Syracuse and as far south as Erie, PA. If a new stadium is built, then put it between Rochacha and Buffalo if a viable space is not available in downtown Buffalo. Why not clean up a brownfield or 2 and throw it on the shores of Lake Erie just south of the city. First of all, at the moment I don't think we need another stadium. The Ralph is great. Seats are still affordable Great sight lines CHEAP parking (Go to Foxboro if you think you're paying to much) Very lax tailgating rules The stadium is in the snow belt (Though it rarely snows during games, instead we get weather like the torent that ripped off the lake during the Griants games a few years back, god that was awesome) Easy access to and from the stadium ITS NOT A DOME The last thing Buffalo needs is a DOME. Weather is our friend and should be used to our advantage. Remember the Dolphins beat us in our DOME home game in Toronto. As for the Stadium, i agree that we're okay for right now, but if possible our attention should shift to underdeveloped parts of downtown to improve Buffalo's image. Look at the city of Niagara Fall, one of the 7 Wonders of the World and it seems impossible to even keep a restaurant open. Erie CO, thoughnot exactly well run, is way ahead, and has way more power financially. Niagara Co. doesn't deserve to house an NFL team. Nagunnappen. One of the most amazing sites in North America and you had to drive through a wasteland to get to it. I haven't been to NF in probably 8 years, but I was on the American side last year and was pretty surprised to see the growth on the Canadian side. Clearly there's potential for tourism in the area - but I doubt the WNY government will get it together to grow the area... I'd go for a stadium in the falls, but the whole US side needs a revamp. DC Grid Posted August 31, 2010 Share Posted August 31, 2010 (edited) PUT IT DOWNTOWN! Buffalo is a ghost town, use the stadium and new development to draw people back to the downtown. In almost every major city, save Detroit, people are flocking back into cities and redevelopment has helped to greatly improve stagnating downtown economies...you get young people out of the burbs and into the cities they pay taxes and pump money into the cities and help spur a cycle of growth. Give the next owner 20 square blocks, let them develop it using the modern stadium model of placing a stadium, retail, residential, and business complexes all together. Using smaller arenas and less development this formula has been used to perfection in cities like Milwaukee and on a larger scale in Indianapollis. In Cleveland their stadiums help to give development a rock to cling on and have led to larger redevlopment of the downtown than could have been expected with their shrinking population. Building it near the falls would be great, and make the stadium a spectacle, but Buffalo again would get little in the bargain. We show exploit the opportunity and at the same time help revitalize the entire area. You "fix" the decaying Niagara side and the whole region, including Buffalo, begin to revitalize. Why you say? The falls is a 7th wonder yet the Niagara side is a slum. The tourist drive right through it and Buffalo. Give them a reason to stop and spend their buckeros. The stadium I vision is a multi purpose type with a retractable roof and is a grand as the falls.
