Terrence Cody Story

Recommended Posts

Got this off another board I read...

"I have been on this board a while and I am a lurker, but this is something that needs to be told...

My uncle was diagnosed with liver cancer during the first week of September of 2009. The doctor was very upbeat, but told him it would be a battle. The doctor told him that he definitely would get to see Christmas and hopefully a lot more of them. Almost a week later the doctor told him he had 4 weeks to live. It was a shock for everyone in our family. My uncle and my father had worked together for the last 11 or so years and I have worked with them the last 2. The chemo almost started immediately and he was getting good results back from tests. He has been in the hospital a couple times and actually had a bad case of pneumonia and sepsis and came back strong. One week ago he began to fall ill and was taken to the hospital the doctor said he would not last through the weekend. The family was called in and stayed with him night and day. He began to feel better and by Friday was sitting up and talking and joking like he always did...Enter Terrence Cody...

Terrence was signing autographs in Childersburg which is a a couple of miles away from Sylacauga where my uncle is in the hospital. Word got to him from a friend who set up the autograph session that it would make my uncles day if he could come by. He did, he took pictures, signed autographs, and talked for two hours. It was hard to get him to leave. It made my uncles day indeed. As of today he is supposed to leave the hospital to go back home. "

I never thought I'd have a crush on a chubby football player but I have a full-on man crush on Cody. Stories like this only add to the romance. If we get him, our draft will be a success. I don't think there is a player I've wanted in the draft this much in a long time.

Was he THAT good at Alabama? I really didn't see them play much. I will say his lack of interest in the weight room shows a lack of commitment to his profession, so I am concerned there. But we do need a wide body. The semi-informed "experts" on Sirius do not like Cody until the 3rd/4th round and like Cam Thomas better.

That's a great story. You never get to hear how people are outside of football.

It's pretty pathetic the double standard the media has. Probably like 90% of the athletes are good people but the media would rather focus on the 10% who are idiots. Thus, you get moron fans would say sports are filled with "thugs" and criminals.

Yes, when he is in, he changes the game.

Besides the message boards full of "internet experts", where do you get the information that he doesnt work hard? Sorry, but you don't get to play for Nick Saban and the National Champions just because you're fat. Here is an excerpt from a recent story:

03/10/10 - Terrence Cody keeps shrinking as the NFL draft approaches. The two-time All-America nose guard weighed in at 348 pounds at Alabama's pro day on Wednesday, with representatives from all 32 NFL teams present. That number has come down from 370 before the Senior Bowl and 354 at the NFL combine two weeks ago. Cody thinks that weight loss and conditioning proves his commitment and discipline to NFL teams and makes him a viable candidate for the first round. He also did 22 repetitions at 225 pounds on the bench press.

also, just wanted to post....

If they honestly believe Cody is not going until the 3rd or 4th round, they should be fired. I'm just praying he lasts to our pick in the 2nd. The knock on Cody is he's a 2 down player and his conditioning. I'd rather have a great 2 downs than average to below average 3 downs. Alabama allowed like 11 points a game last year and sallowed omething like less than 30 yards rushing. You aren't going to lose many games like that. Poz would be a pro bowler behind Cody.

Ive liked him all year. Loved it when I heard he was projecting to go late 1st or 2nd round figuring we might have a shot at him. I dont think he's going to last that long though. Especially now with this additional news that he can cure cancer.

Roswell is pressing the Bills hard to draft him.

That's awesome. I'm so glad he did that for you. I haven't heard too much about him as far as off field things go it's nice to see he's a good guy.

What he said! :)

This stuff doesn't change my opinion of him as a player. I still question his commitment to the game.

I'm sorry, I am not making light of your uncles situation but if I don't post this joke (I thought it up myself. :wallbash: ) I'll bust.

Cody has also helped hundreds of kids in Haiti by donating half his lunch every Monday.

Sorry, you may now return to your regularly scheduled thread.
