Wow Chef you are one cool customer. I'm not familiar with many of those artists but I love that number three. I never knew who performed it though.

I'm thankful for

I "stole" my dad's Dave Brubeck Take Five album when I went to college. That album is just full of cool stuff.

Music that I'm thankful for (Powerful tragedy):

Lost.. on the highway

It was the end

To think what we lost...

Some great choices. Taxi is an awesome song.

And she walked away in silence,

It's strange, how you never know,

But we'd both gotten what we'd asked for,

Such a long, long time ago.

You see, she was gonna be an actress

And I was gonna learn to fly.

She took off to find the footlights,

And I took off for the sky.

And here, she's acting happy,

Inside her handsome home.

And me, I'm flying in my taxi,

Taking tips, and getting stoned,

I go flying so high, when I'm stoned.

Good stuff. There were so many talented singer/songwriters during the 60's and 70's the likes of which we'll not see again.

Some of my favorites...

Johnny Cash

Bob Dylan

Cat Stevens

David Crosby

Gordon Lightfoot

Jim Croce

James Taylor

Paul Simon

Neil Young

Jackson Browne

without R&B there would be no R&R....

Yeah, and Tito & Jermaine had a profound influence on Rock-n-Roll. :P

Did anyone watch the HBO special? I DVR'ed it and haven't had a chance to watch it yet. I did a little channel flipping last night and caught Simon and Garfunkel doing Bridge Over Troubled Water. I thought that Art Garfunkel (while looking slightly effeminate in his advanced age) gave an outstanding performance pouring his heart into the song while Paul Simon just wasn't that into it. A completely unbalanced performance. Kudos to Garfunkel and :P to Paul Simon for merely going through the motions!
