  1. They have moved slowly and indecisively on everything since they've owned the Sabres
  2. If there is one overriding constant of Pegula's ownership over both the Bills and the Sabres it is that there is no masterplan. Proactive and decisive are two things that are needed now with the Bills and sadly these are not traits he exhibited in any capacity with the Sabres. The Sabres are doing the right thing 2 years too late. They waited 2 years to pull the trigger on rebuilding. He also kept Regier through the off-season of 2013 and then fired him two months into the season. An off-season in which he offered Thomas Vanek nearly $9 mil/year over 8 years and attempted to resign Ryan Miller. Why would you keep your GM through an incredibly important off-season (and let him trade your best asset) only to fire him months later? Answer: Because you are clueless and lack any vision whatsoever. I'm happy the Pegula's own the team but without any strong football men in the organization (and we have known), this team is destined to continue to be a middling joke of franchise.
  3. He's from New York. That job is open. He and Rex have same agent. They quickly interviewed a Rooney Rule candidate already. I think he got assurances about that job. And he's got a lot of offensive staff at his disposal with the Bears offensive staff being let go and him having ties to them. They can potentially hire him today. They also have the structure he wants in that the coach and GM in NY both report to the owner and that's how Woody wants it.
  4. There are better GM candidates out there than Doug Whaley. Just because he is here doesn't mean we need to settle for him. We were settling for him to begin with. Step 1 for Pegs is to get the best people. Brandon, Whaley, and Marrone were far from best people.
  5. That's ok. The Bills are only a few players away from kinda, sorta, possibly making the playoffs as a wildcard team.
  6. Lots of incorrect stuff in here.
  7. Arizona says hi. So do the Detroit Lions. And last year's Eagles, Chiefs, and Chargers. Coaching turnover does equate no playoffs except when you hire Dick Jauron or Chan Gailey. Every coach we fired deserved it. The guys they hired after were just not good.
  8. I think they allow him to go somewhere, and use it as an excuse to clean house in the FO.
  9. They are a package deal IMO. New leadership is needed here. The goal is the Super Bowl not just the playoffs. The whole culture change talk is a joke. Culture change starts from the top down. I've been very critical of Marrone, but looking at it objectively, Whaley has performed worse over the last two years. The fact remains that most of our studs on D were not drafted or signed by him and Marrone hired both Pettine and Schwartz.
  10. Really? He was an 3rd year undrafted QB with 4 or 5 starts under his belt. He had his moments but if anyone thought he was an answer at QB Was delusional. And Watkins was as much a Brandon move as a Whaley move.
  11. I apologize to the D, but this team needs to clean house. This offense is far away. Absolute needs: QB TE LG RG Sorry, you don't 4 quality starters, including a QB in one off-season, especially when we don't pick until the 40s. Frankly, it would have to be a hell of an off-season to get this team to championships calibre. I don't mean start trading away our young talent, but they need a new direction in management.
  12. They've already paid him his guaranteed money. He was essentially on a 1 yr deal.
  13. Going out his way.
  14. SD losing actually gave us a fighters chance at the playoffs.
  15. Gotta love Rivers though. Man. Bad sack
  16. 9ers D has really fallen off this season.
  17. This is the 49ers season in one game basically.
  18. Lots of DCs will be available if Schwartz moves on somewhere. Rex Ryan Mike Smith Ron Rivera Mike Nolan Not to mention the Bills simply promoting Pepper Johnson to DC.
  19. This. Although he is paid well already.
  20. They will all be gone IMO. Marrone because he is a poor communicator, his offense still doesn't do 1 thing even remotely well after 2 full seasons, and his mediocre record is almost fully attributed to the defense which he is clearly completely hands off. Whaley because he missed on the QB badly, the Watkins trade looks like TERRIBLE asset management, and not having that first round pick will likely cost the Bills a shot at one these established QBs that will be available this off-season. I think the only way Whaley stays aboard is if the Bills hire a star HC like Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, Art Briles, Nick Saban(gasp!-yes, they should try), or Gus Malzahn and they make him the de facto head of the football department, much like Seattle did with Carroll. But even then, the Bills will likely want someone more versed in contract negotiation and salary structure than a guy whose background is college scouting. The league is trending to more CEO types in the GM role than former scouts.
  21. I thought the same but the replay showed he wasn't touched. CBS did show a replay of this.
