Tds is a good point.  But there is no question the monumental impact Diggs had on this offense.

think about when the Pats got Moss. It was steroids for Brady.  They need a separate award then because the impact Diggs has had our offense is a big of any player this year.

Diggs is on pace for a little under 1450 yards receiving. A good total no doubt, but not the type of total that would put him in MVP conversations...

Also, he isn't even the MVP on his own team, so how could he be MVP of the NFL?

Allen is unquestionably the MVP of the Bills and for as great as Diggs has been it isn't even close.

Sorry for starting another thread today, I don’t often start threads and don’t plan on doing so regularly, but I’d like some feedback on this topic to better form my own opinion.

A lot of posters on here declare that Brandon Beane is an average drafter, which is fine, I think he’s slightly above average. I’m not really here to debate Beane.

I’d like to get an understanding of what GMs people believe are elite drafters (Top 5ish), who’s above average (Top 10ish) and then who else is average?

How do you measure the success of the draft? How many drafts does a GM need to run to be able to judge them? Do ESPN/3rd party sources rankings factor into your definition of a good draft?

    Examples are helpful.

EDIT: I will follow up here with some of my current opinion. I don’t think anyone in the NFL is particularly an elite drafter. Pittsburgh would be the only organization that comes straight to my head.

My point there is if there’s only 1 elite drafting GM/organization and the rest are “average” it doesn’t really work that way. Mathematically average is taking everyone’s performance into account.. everyone can’t be average... they’re compared to each other...

Do folks see where I am going?

Honestly I think if every GM was given 25 years they would probably all be pretty close to the same with hits and misses when it was all said and done. Some do very well in the beginning and get more time and others don't.

The Packers have always been ridiculously good at drafting QBs over the years.. Starr, Favre and Rodgers.. Steelers always seem to do well too.. Ravens obviously with Ozzie Newsome who was fantastic..

Steelers have been great at drafting WRs...they don't hit on all of them, but the ones that stick on the team seemingly always produce, even when they aren't first rounders.

To be fair he’s pretty fantastic at the lower rounds.

Is he? Then why hasn't he drafted a single pro bowl player since Jamie Collins in 2013?

That guy appropriately coined the term "the NFL stands for Not For Long".

The funny part is he was telling that to a ref during the game once...the entire quote was...

"This is the NFL...that stands for Not For Long when you make those f**king calls!"

It's a valid point that the GB defense left the Colts on the field.

But just like with the Bills-Chiefs game, it's a valid counter-point that if the Packers offense could sustain one of their 2 drives in the 3rd and 1st drive in the 4th, they make their own opportunities and give their D a chance to regroup.

I mean the Colts tried to give the game back to the Packers and finally they got enough penalties that they had to punt.  What was it, something like 9 penalties on that last regulation drive?  Twice they ended up with 30 yards or more for a first down?  It was absolutely ridiculous.  Hold after hold...and they were actually legit holds, the dudes on the Packers jerseys were almost being pulled off, I don't get how they expected the refs to miss those.

Reich had to be fuming after the game even though they won.

Tua was dominant.  But, before him, Jalen Hurts was dominant some/most of the time too.

The real issue for Tua is that he's way more tentative now than he ever was in college, and i'm perfectly willing to chalk that up to his pretty awful injury.  In fact, that injury was strange because it seemed to be much worse than warranted based on the hit.  If I had to guess, he's gonna have a short career, and it's going to end by a medium hit by a linebacker that most other QB's would just shake off.

Or is he way more tentative because his bevy of #1 pick WR's in college don't have 5 yards of separation on every dropback with every player running wide open doesn't exist in the NFL?  2 yards is wide open in the NFL and you have to be able to fit the ball in there and make the throws.

I am not writing him off, but I don't see anything that scares me AT ALL in regards to him being in the AFC East and having to face him twice a year.  Allen is simply better than he is.

Per mcdermott, related to the Covid situation. He said he was supposed to return this week to practice. Cardiologist wouldn’t clear him

This was the reason why the Big 10 was one of the first conferences to say they weren't playing when studies showed that 1/3 of college athletes developed that after COVID.

They agreed to play after developing a plan where players had to wait for a minimum length of time before coming back AND be cleared by a cardiologist as well.

Man this is exactly what you fear in that situation.  With multiple ligaments and other structural components- you are looking a a full year rehab.

So sad for someone that genuinely seems like a decent guy playing for a heartbreaking team.

The Curse of Carson Palmer with the Bengals...let's hope he doesn't come back like a shell of his former self like Palmer did before resurrecting his career late with the Cards for a few years.

For those that don't remember, Palmer looked like he was about to become the next great NFL QB and he took a hit(near the same place on the field if I am not mistaken) in a playoff game against Pittsburgh and tore his ACL.  Never was the same player for the Bengals again...

I seem to remember Seattle winning theirs at 7-9 one year. I dont think anyone has won it at 6-10, but we could certainly see that this year. 2020, yo.

Yes, they did...that was the year there was an uproar because a very good Saints team had to travel there in the first round and they lost, even tho the Saints had 4 more wins I believe...also I think that might have been the Marshawn Lynch run through the entire defense for a TD game

Does anyone in the NFC East even WANT to make the playoffs at this point?

They'd instantly go from a top-10 pick to 19th overall (as a crap team) based on the draft rules.

Has any team ever won a division with 6 wins?  Cause I think it is going to happen in the NFC East this year...Philly is a dumpster fire even though they technically lead the division due to a tie...Giants are just not that great even though they play teams tough they still usually lose, and Redskins are...well the Redskins. Cowboys are back in a 3 way tie for second place but does anyone legit see them getting 3 more wins??

So let me get this straight you believe Carr, Tannehill and Herbert, all who have a higher QB rating, are playing better football than Allen. Even though every other measurable Allen is outperforming them, except he has more INTs. I'm not sure I can get there and it's not about getting it down to one statistic. It's taking a collective look.

There is absolutely NO WAY Tannehill could do what Allen is doing.  Without a viable run game Tannehill is ineffective.  Tannehill cannot drop back 30 times in a half with 3 runs and do what Allen did to Seattle. Not happening.

  11. They also have played the most teams with winning records in the NFL and are 4-3 against these teams.  Points For/Points Against are skewed heavily by the 1 loss to the Titans.  Additionally the Bills have allowed several garbage time TDs that have lowered that margin without changing the outcome of the game in their wins.

I don't think they are the elite of the NFL but I certainly think they can compete with and beat any of those teams if they are on their game.  I really would have liked to see what they did against KC if they attacked like they did in the other games instead of sitting back and being passive.

Anthony Lynn is very good at scheming up a great running game. Lucky for us Kalen Ballage is their RB. Hopefully we can stop the running game and make Herbert one dimensional

He is also very good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

Still almost a week out so it is subject to change but that looks like a decent late November day for football...

He was the consensus #1 overall pick before he got injured. Even with a broken hip he was a top 10 pick.

Terrible coaching decision to bench him in a close game. What does it gain???

If they benched him earlier, very likely a win. Denver did everything but hand that game to Miami and they still wouldn't take it.
