  1. Just said the Jets "leap-frogged the Bills and will challenge the Pats for the AFC East."

Whatever he's drinking, he'd better stop.

Why, because they got a 39 year old QB who is on the downside of his career that has had 1 good season in his last 6, and who is much more likely to have another like the 5 bad ones rather than the 1 good one?? Sorry, but Favre is not going to be the savior everyone thinks he is for that team...

  2. pick the Bills to finish first in the AFC East and win the division over the Patriots....

I'd love for it to come true, but I think he is a few years too early with this one...

I think the Bills finish second in the AFC East....the Jets whom everyone else seems to think is finishing second ahead of the Bills are going to find out that Favre has a lot more of the 5 crappy seasons out the last 6 in him than his 1 good one from last year...the guy is 39 years old, not 29...

  3. A player is injured in an area that is difficult to heal and you never hear from him again, even though the season is about to begin. Doesn't this make you suspicious that he isn't capable of playing? Sure he wants a new contract before he shows up, because chances are good that if he ever shows up he will still be injured or the least, not the same player he was pre-injury.

Doubt we'll see JP in a Bills unifrom again.

Do you really think the Bills are going to just hand him a new contract without a clause saying he needs to pass a physical before it is in force? Its common knowledge that he would need to pass a physical before getting his contract, so regardless of if he is hoping not to show he is still injured, they are going to find out anyways...

Its been almost 9 months now...I am pretty sure he is fine from a groin injury...those don't take THAT long to heal...

We will see him in a Bills uniform and it will be very soon..

  4. Hahahaha! Classic. They were a two-team NFL market, and both split town...Including one leaving for the greener pastures of Oakland!!

And the NFL STILL believes that LA is a two-team town?? Are they counting USC as one of those teams?

LA is the WORST football market in the country...even worse than Jacksonville and that is saying something...

Those people there could care less about the NFL and their teams...they are too busy shopping on Rodeo Drive...

  5. Many of the cut predictions have Donnie Spragan getting the axe. For what it's worth he and his wife/fiancee (big rock beautiful lady) checked into a posh hotel in Niagara Falls last night and took a 5-hour tour.

He didn't act like a man expecting to be unemployed today.

Maybe he was just making sure he "got some" before she got mad and left him after finding out he/she was out of a big paycheck....

  6. Poor guy, liked him in a Bills uniform.

Just posting this since he's an ex-Bill, not the whole I've heard of him let's pick him up thing.

We need to pick him up so the WGR Bills rap can always include the "we are still waiting to see if Brad Cieslak has a touchdown dance" reference in it...

  7. Jason Peters Debate: Show him the money!

I ran across this article from 7/25 that I didn't see as having been linked to at the TBD front page so here it is, to be added to the database. Sorry if it already was. Just yet another corner heard from.

    Highlights:

"If any team knows how rare it is to find a linchpin at left tackle it’s the Buffalo Bills. Arguably no team has struggled at that position more than Buffalo over the past decade, and it’s kept them out of the playoffs for eight years."

"What a solid first step for Trent Edwards’ development. That’s exactly what Edwards needs – musical chairs on the offensive line and defensive ends constantly in his grill."

"Peters’ base salary for this season of $3.25 million is an insult. Brandon noted that the Bills’ gave him this five-year, $15 million deal in 2006. The compensation-for-good play effect already played out, he attests. But a lot has changed since then. Buffalo rewarded Peters with this deal right after he made the switch from tight end to lineman. But then he made another switch – to left tackle. Now he’s the team’s reliable starter at arguably the most thankless, difficult job in sports. Left tackle. Or more appropriately, Trent Edwards’ blind side."

So I suppose that Peters would have contacted the Bills and let them know he wanted a 2 million dollar paycut if he remained a backup tackle and never got into any games?

  8. Wright is sorta surprising but the fumbles may have done him in

Wright has done nothing during his short career here. Basically he will be known as the player that was drafted because Ralph Wilson said "Hey is that running back from Fresno State still available?" When the other team officials told him yes, he then replied "Good, were drafting him", even over those letting him know they just took an RB in the first round....

way to go Ralph...pick players who get cut the next season in the 4th round....

  9. We do not know what Parker will have Peters do.

Peters may be willing to miss out on another 200K per week for a few weeks if he thinks it will get him 600K per week next year. Don't forget the 8 figure signing bonus.

Parker may be an SOB who doesn't care who he pisses off on his quest to make $$$. But he's not dumb. I think at this point we should just sit back and watch how it plays out.

He'd have a better shot at making the 600K next year if he as at camp. The Bills have shown no reason not to report to camp as they have been very proactive in taking care of their own players they want to keep...

If he is dumb enough to sit then let him sit. The Bills will never negotiate with him unless he reports, so he can have 3 years remaining on his contract until he's 50 for all they care. Sooner or later he is going to realize what everyone else already knows. The Bills hold all the cards in this game, not Peters.

  10. They haven't heard from Peters, its just some guy in the front office throwing some speculation out there. We should still be prepared for life without the Holy One.

Again...no player will sit out and lose over $191,000 per game...it just doesn't happen unless this guy has some real mental issues going on. COuple that with all the fines he will be forced to pay if he does miss a regular season game and he is likely looking at around $500,000...no one in their right mind would risk losing that amount of money no matter how rich he is or thinks he is...

  11. Has Tony Dungy ever said anything negative about any team? He's a classy guy. Did you expect him to say No? Or something like: "Not really. They won't surprise anyone. They are terrible."

No...I disagree...that was a gush about a team....you don't say something like that unless its you actually mean it. If he thought the Bills sucked he would have said something like "Well, they played well, but we didn't play anywhere near our capabilities, so we made it a lot easier than it should have been..." or something like that...basically he would have deflected the good that we did and made it more about how bad they had played...

  12. The problem is that Parker has a reputation to uphold. I can easily holding Peters out just to not make himself look like a chump to prospective clients.

Unless Parker is gonna be giving Peters about 200K each week and pay another 250K in fines for him if he doesn't report by the end of camp, Peters will be here within....oh...the next week or so...

  13. Rumor was one of the reasons Peters didn't get drafted is because he's not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer. His recent conduct isn't doing anything to dispute that possibility.

First of all, a player that misses the last game of the regular season and the Pro Bowl due to injury should never not show up for offseason conditioning/minicamps much less refuse to make any effort to keep in contact with the team. That's being grossly irresponsible and unprofessional. The Bills organization decided right then and there to not budge until he shows up, and I don't blame them one bit.

What makes even less sense if he really is still injured is that he is going to have to pass a physical before the contract would become official anyways...its not like the Bills are gonna give him like 7 mil per year and then be like..."Oh, we didn't realize you were still hurt..."

  14. As reported on WGR, apparently Peters has a clause in his contract that gives him a 1.25 or 1/75 million dollar bonus if he plays half of his snaps at Left Tackle in any given season. So not only would he be getting his 3 or 4 million base salary this season, he would also be getting another fairly large bonus that was built into the contract to "protect him" if he was playing left tackle instead of right tackle.

This holdout makes even less sense now...

  15. Has this guy locked it down opposite McGee? I feel like I haven't even seen the guy play, let alone hear his name called during a preseason game.

I know he's look great in camp (could be a practice hero, who knows?) so I'm assuming they're trying to get a better eye on Youboty, James and Corner, for those last spots. But I'm fairly certain he doesn't even have a stat yet.

I thought Greer played extremely well last year for most of the season...he always seemed to be in receivers hip pockets and around the ball...

  16. I think it is good news. The players play hard for him. Anybody who can wring a 7-9 season out of what we went through last season is ok by me.

I agree...its about time that we have stability around here in the coaching department...at some point you have to have enough talent on the field to win games, and this may be the first year we can legitimately get on Jauron if he doesn't make the playoffs...
