  1.

The Pats defense last year was 25th in yards against but 9th in points against. They were a mixed bag. They did get a lot of turnovers (led the league in forced fumbles). They also had one of the higher fumble recovery rates, which is basically luck. They were 5th in INTs. They would have been one of the worst defenses if it wasn't for the turnovers. Of course, having Tommy run up the score forces trailing teams to throw more and that leads to INTs.

People tend to focus on Brady and not on his supporting cast, which I think is a mistake. When they won their SBs, their defense was very good or excellent. Once their defense began to wane, so did their SB wins. They've been explosive offensively, primarily with the pass but Brady has had a good line and good weapons (Moss, Welker, Gronk, Mr. Angel Dust). This year, their defense is still not very good and most of Brady's weapons are gone.

I think the Pats will focus on the run game more this year to take the pressure off of Brady's receivers. They were 7th in rushing yards last year.

Yup, also causes opposing offensive players to maybe try and do too much to try and make plays leading to fumbles since they are behind and have to put up points...

Best defense can be a good offense at times...gets the other team out of their comfort zone

However fumble recoveries are complete luck and have been shown to have no consistency other than trending towards 50-50 if they are skewed a lot one way or the other...

  2. Doesn't matter, they have Brady and will win at least 10 games. Remember the last season Manning played in Indy when they made the playoffs but might have been a 3 or 4 win team without him? Hall of Fame QBs might be the biggest difference maker in all of sports...goalies on a hot streak in NHL playoff games are right up there tho...they can steal Stanley Cups from better teams...

  3. He'll be back if we start off 3-1 though...!!!!

This is a power play, pure and simple- call it what it is. No extra effort to get out there and play, but here's the thing- Bills fans would have understood if he had taken care of himself last year and rested, but now it looks petty.

We should just let him fully heal and trade him. I know it is rewarding his behavior, but if he's leaving we need to move on and maintain the positive motivation and chemistry vital to win.

I can see why Byrd is so bitter...he could have chosen to rest last year to prevent worsening of the condition but chose to play, whether for money because he was a good soldier, etc and wanted to be rewarded and the Bills basically told him "We appreciate that but we want to see how this plays out first".

I don't see how there is any repairing this relationship right now. Both sides feel they are right and both sides have valid points

  4. Now it comes out what I had already pieced together...

Byrd dealt with this last year taking shots to get through some games, Bills knowing he had this werent going to give him big dollars until they saw how bad this was since it can literally derail a career or at least make him a much less effective player, Byrd felt betrayed by the Bills because he played his heart out for them instead of trying to rest it and not play.

This is why he was so bitter...it just made no sense why he would be that bitter over a simple franchise tag...I knew there had to be something else in play and this was it...

Byrd wanted a long term deal, Bills said let's see how this injury plays out first, here's a one year deal, Byrd feels betrayed and mad because he knows this is potentially a very serious situation that could rob him of any chance at getting a big dollar contract long term...

Both sides have reasons for doing what they did, Bills protected themselves from buying damaged goods, Byrd has reasons for feeling betrayed...both sides can feel they are in the right...

Potentially a disastrous situation for both parties from a relationship standpoint and Byrd from a career standpoint

  5. QBs with EJs natural physical gifts, his intelligence, work ethic and leadership qualities do not end up as busts, they end up excelling...

QBs with his physical gifts minus the intelligence, work ethic and leadership qualities are the Akili Smith's, Vince Young's and Jamarcus Russell's of the NFL...

EJ is gonna be a star sooner than later for us...

  6. I was running 50 miles a week when I developed a case of bad PF. I had to stop running for maybe 5 months. But (1) it affects everyone differently, and (2) I didn't have the same quality medical care that Byrd does.

Also, PF really sucks when trying to run marathon distances. I'm not sure how much you can gut out in the jogging and short sprints of a football game.

I can only imagine after playing on it how bad it has to hurt the rest of the week...

  7. "if" Tyrd really wants out of buffalo (which is likely)....then the best way to force your way out is to make the bills NOT want to use the tag next year. make it so they prefer to trade you. one way to do that is by constantly missing games due to injury and making that $6.9 mil tag money a bad deal. if he plays healthy all 16 games at his pro bowl level, then the bills got great value. if he only plays in half the games, then not so great of a deal.

I just don't see Tyrd and his agent playing nice. like all of of sudden everything is cool. all that matters is getting to the end of this season HEALTHY and taking another crack at the long term deal he desires. he could give two chits about the bills. he will err on the side of caution all year. he will miss games. there is no way he will play through injury with a one year deal the same as he would if he had the security of a long term deal. Plantar Faciitis is the PERFECT injury to work the system without damaging your reputation if you so desire.

one mans over cautious is another mans faking.

Wow, so now the agent must have paid off the doctor the Bills sent him to to get a second opinion to "go along" with the initial diagnosis...

More likely is the Bills knew about it and wanted to see how he would play with it before committing big dollars to him, now agent and Byrd are pissed cause the know its likely he is going to miss out on a big payday because of it...

smart move by Bills and explains why Byrd seems so bitter about it

  8. Well, if we are looking at inflammation I know a thing or two about that as I have psoriasis and have been healing it through inflammation control...

Black seed oil(one of the most amazing compounds ever discovered), a compound called Inflammotion is very good featuring Boswellin(Boswellia extract), Curcumin specifically Meriva branded, Ursolic Acid(IL-17 inhibitor, a key to inflammatory processes),etc do wonders for inflammation...without the side effects of drugs...

Hey if I can heal myself of an "incurable" condition, he can heal himself too...currently have healed about 50% and its improving every day

  9. Here is an SI article from.a few years ago talking about it and saying its "an athlete's worst nightmare"...

Not optimistic about Byrd playing and even if he does, could miss several games out of nowhere if it gets worse...

Could potentially be career threatening if it gets worse or doesn't respond to treatment...now we see why the Bills didn't give him a long term deal and why Byrd is so bitter...knows he might not ever play up to his standard again and lose out on a big payday...

Tough situation to be in, but can you blame the Bills for wanting to see how it responds first?
