  1. Don't let 'em get you down LSI. Joe Theismann has made a living, (after playing pro ball) by giving opinions just like yours ,with no facts to back it up. You are well on your way to being respected in the same way that Joe is ! Hang in there

    LSI - 75 IQ points + 35 years = Joe Theisman! :w00t:

  2. Don't get me wrong, I was the biggest Takeo fan ever--I was doing cartwheels the year we signed him and thought he played great for us pre-injury. It was sad last year, but you just didn't see him making plays. What I saw a lot of last year was Takeo getting there a step or two slow, just as the play was over. In all honesty, I really don't think our D will be all that off from losing him.

It is a sad but true reality that any player, no matter how great they are, could have their career ended on any given play.

  3. i wouldn't give up the #12 pick for him either, I would swap it for Turner and SD's 1st. So basically your trading down with SD with Turner as your compensation for making the move. Or its like drafting Turner at 12 and being awarded another late 1st for doing it, basically walking out of the draft with a RB, and the same amount of Draft picks as you went in with.

Of course all this hinges on the Bills being able to re-sign him before he becomes a FA, I wouldn't give up more then a 5th for a rental

Personnally I would feel more comfortable going into the season with a RB that has NFL experience over taking the chance on a 2nd tier Draft choice with no pro experience. The Bills are a young team, and it will take time for the new line to gel, so having some experience at RB would help them out alot, and help JP out even more.

I understand it would be a swap of first rounders, but it is still not worth it---SD's first rounder may as well be a second rounder.

The point I made earlier is that Wash is being second guessed for wanting to make a similar deal for Briggs, and I believe Briggs is a much more proven player than Turner.

SD is just posturing---there is no way a team will have to trade that much value to get him when SD will get nothing for him if they don't move him by the end of this year.

  4. Everyone says this like every RB taken out of the 1st round automatically becomes a success. Theres a big difference, that pick in the 2nd has no NFL experience, and is a complete unknown at the NFL level. Turner atleast has experience, and is more of a known commodity. He would be starting if he wasn't behind the best RB in the league, and in his limited game time behind that RB, he has put up decent numbers and shown he can play in the NFL

Swaping first for him would be just like drafting a RB in the first, and trading down, something alot of people would like Buffalo to do anyways. Because of Turners limited experience, they should be able to sign him to a reasonable contract (a nice one for him, but not unreasonable) and atleast Buffalo would know they have a RB with NFL experience

He also usually would get into the game after LT had exhausted the other teams defense for three quarters.

Turner is not that proven, and the Bills would have to extend his contract within the year or risk losing him as a free agent.

My point wasn't that Turner is not a good option....just that it would not be wise to give up the number 12 pick for him.

I'm sure as draft day approaches, the price SD is asking for Turner will drop to a more reasonable level.

  5. I think Marv has done an outstanding job so far with the Bills this off season, and I do think most of our new players will fit right in. But, one thing that does bother me is lack of veteran leadership. I don't think there's one player on our roster other that Anthony Thomas and Darwin Walker that has play off experience. Do you think this will be a factor in 2007?

I believe Dockery has playoff experience with the Redskins, as well.

I understand the concern, but I don't think it will be a big factor. Just getting to the playoffs in 2007 will be viewed as a success and would be a great experience for this young team as it continues to grow and develop together.

(Exactly how much playoff experience did we lose with Spikes, McGahee, and Clements???)

  6. High Character= Guys who love to play the game of football and want to work to be the best football player they can be. They view the money and fame as extra added benefits of being football players.

Low Character= Guys who are atheletically talented and choose to play football because they want the money and the fame.

They are not interested in working to get better--they will just reley on their natural talent as far as it can

    take them.

  7. Chris Denney (WR)

    Sam Aikin (WR)

    Brad Cieslak (TE)

    Matt Miller (TE)

    Ryan Newfield (TE)

    Jason Whittle (OL)

    Anthony Hargrove (DE)

    Eric Powell (DE)

    Jason Jefferson (DT)

    Tim Anderson (DT)

    Josh Stamer (LB)

    Mario Haggen (LB)

    Roy Manning (LB)

    Jim Leonhard (S)

Wow!---Take Hargrove off it and over half of that list could be training camp cuts from this year.

However, remember that a lot of next years cap room will be needed for extensions for Evans and Losman.

  8. ROUND 3B--HB Blades, ILB Pitt. #4 rated ILB, #95 in the Draft Scout Top 750. A BLUE COLLAR and bring your hard hat to work guy.

I'm a big fan of Blades and would be happy getting him with one of our 3rd round picks.

He reminds me of Fletch and he has the "warrior mentality" that Fletch is known for.

He's definitely the kind of guy Marv wants on this football team.

  9. I was at that Tampa game baking in the sun myself----its hard to make a judgement of Cro's MLB play from that game.

The temp was 94 degrees with heat index over 105(I'm a 20+ year Floridian and I was absolutely baking!).

The defense was on the field way too much to have a chance to compete.

I'm happy with Cro's play at WLB and hope he gets to stay at that position, but I feel good about his ability to play the middle if that is the direction the Bills want to go.

  10. Two biggest lies

    1. they are happy moving Crowell to the middle. This defense demands Superman in the middle. They dearly hope that Willis gets past SF, but will take their chances with Crowell as the fall back plan.

    2. they are happy with a RBBC --they would much prefer to have a dominant back but will live with a committee of backs if they have to

You beat me to it...that's exactly what I think. <_<

  11. My guess is that they will be looking to get back in the 2nd round for Carr. Possibly Oak. I doubt Miami though. Carr is a good athlete though, just had a shiti supporting cast.

I don't think anyone will trade for Carr and pick up his large contract unless they really like him.

He needs to go to a team with more pieces around him to be successful.

One place that might work out well for him would be KC if the Chiefs are no longer interested in Trent Green

  12. I don't want Hall neither, all I said was maybe he becomes more of a reality for us. The best available athlete is probably going to be who we choose if we don't trade back. I just think that the players that were mentioned will be gone by the time we pick and that CB is a concern. If that is the case and it's not Hall then maybe it will be Houston. If RB, LB, DT and CB are going to be our concerns, then I'm expecting Peterson, Willis and Akoye to be gone by the time we pick. This would leave Lynch, Hall and Houston as viable choices. The only other position that could be tempting would be WR. If that were true then Ginn would be the choice. I do think that there is enough quality WRs on the board for us to take in a later round though. I also feel that this A-Train may allow us to consider a compliment RB with one of our 3rd rd. picks. A fast CB is starting to make sense to me but what do I know. Thoughts?

In that scenario, he probably would become more of a reality for us....but I think would be an unfortunate reality.

If both Okoye and Willis are gone by pick 12, and none of the other top talents slide down the board, I will be very disappointed.

  13. I don't think Jauron was here as a player. He never played in any regular season games, I know that. He was only on Detroit and Cincinnati.

I don't think he was a coordinator in Buffalo either. He was a defensive coach in Buffalo, however.

I think I read somewhere that Levy wanted to hire DJ as defensive coordinator when he was head coach, but DJ took that position in Jacksonville instead.

  14. I believe when Spikes went down with the achilles, there was talk of how Crowell had to "transition" on the fly from middle to weakside linebacker. He definitely got better each week at weakside backer during that season.

Why can't he transition back when he has an entire off season, training camp, and preseason to prepare?

Of course this discussion could be a moot point if they draft Willis in RD 1.
