  1. from NBC Sports blog on "sleeper" picks.

    http://blogs.nbcsports.com/home/archives/2...me-to-this.html

"The undersized linebacker (6-1, 223) led the nation in tackles in 2006 and the Cyclones in tackles in 2007. The biggest question about Bowen, who had a pick in the East-West Shrine game, is where he'd play. Is he athletic enough to play safety? Big enough to play outside linebacker? Watching him on tape, it is apparent that Bowen is a sideline-to-sideline defender, but is he big enough to take on NFL running backs?"

    The new Coy Wire.

  2. It would be nice if the NFL could put in place a standardized rookie draft pick pay scale like the NBA has.

Of course, the trade-off would have to be that rookie contracts would have to be much shorter(3 years in the NBA) allowing players to become unrestricted free agents sooner.

But in such a violent sport as football, the players association would block any attempt to put a system like this in place.

I agree with your sentiment, though. Its crazy that blockbuster contracts in 2005 have become undervalued contracts in just three years(Urlacher and Chad Johnson situations) because of rookie deals like this.

  3. Honestly, I think the Seattle game will be a very important one to win. The Bills have gotten off to such slow starts the past few years, and with an @Jacksonville game looming in week 2 starting off the season 0-2 would be a difficult hole to dig out of in the tough AFC.

  4. I have a feeling your going to be dissapointed. JP has more Value to the bills as a backup then a low round pick. The Front office is smart enough to see this

Exactly. Trading JP would just create another hole the team would have to fill, presumably with a draft pick, since it appears none of the veteran backups have caught the team's eye. So basically it would be trading a veteran backup for a draft pick to select a rookie backup--why do that?

  5. Apparently, a new trend among rich people is to own cats that are a cross between African Leopards and domestic house cats.

Man these things are kind of freakish-looking, and according to the article, they cost $22,000.

I really don't get the purpose of this, but I hope one of these cats has a freakout and goes all "Sigfried and Roy" on one of these rich a-holes.
