Maybe reined in was a poor choice of words... Look...I like Whaley...I would not fire him...But it's not like the guy is perfect either...I was not a big fan of the Sammy trade...I fundamentally disagree with giving up a future #1 to trade up for anything other than a QB...And I feel like Whaley should have known better...I said I would prefer to keep him...But maybe he's so perfect he can't be constructively criticized? I'm glad you're sold on TT...Really I am and I hope you're right...I'm not...I'm guardedly optimistic... But I want to keep pushing hard for an upgrade whenever possible... That's all...

This whole Polian thing is lame if you ask me... Pegs is smart enough...If I'm the Bills owner there is no way I'm getting rid of Whaley unless I have a major-viable replacement, and there's no way I'm keeping Rex... I just think Whaley has to be reined in a bit...My conversation with him would be something like..."I don't want to hear about being in purgatory, I just want to hear how we're going to get out of it..." As far as Rex is concerned the worry that it could actually get a lot worse before it gets better trumps my belief that he can fix it fast enough...I don't believe in the guys ability as a HC anymore...I thought he would be a nice fit...I was dead wrong...

Rex certainly was a good Defensive coach...I think there is a question now as to how effective his schemes are...Granted he has history on his side...But where Rex's Defenses have ranked in the past have absolutely nothing to do with today...And to say this Defense underachieved in Rex's first year is a bit of an understatement...Especially considering Rex was the guy telling us they would be even better in 2015...I think his exact words were "maybe the most talents he's ever had on Defense..." The level of disappointment in Rex has brought me to the point where I believe it's better to cut ties now and save a year we'll never get back...Unless the objective is a complete tank job...I just think he did a terrible, terrible job as a HC this year...It was well beyond what I expected the worst case scenario could be with the level of talent on this team...Not to mention we got better QB play than we have for a long while... The idea that they will get better under Rex just because it's a new season...another year in the system...is a bit of a gamble IMHO considering they have limped to a 3-6 record in the last 9 games when they should have been getting better...In the last 6 games they have scored a whopping 20 points combined in the 4th quarter, while giving up 31...Some of the 4th quarter team and clock management has been laughably awful...Looking lost on both sides of the ball...Taking stupid pre-snap penalties...They are regressing...Are we to believe that will not continue next year? I don't expect Rex to be fired...I really don't...But personally I would can him...I just don't think he's got it anymore...Hopefully he proves me terribly wrong...

I respectfully disagree... And for the record I doubt very much that the Bills will can Rex...I just think they should...I think Whaley should stay though... Each and every situation is different...This is not just more of the same thing because each individual coach brought his own supposed strengths and weaknesses...And the right coach can turn things around fast...Admittedly finding that HC is not the easiest thing to do...But still...It's do-able...There has to be at least one more Bruce Arians out there... I just think...and it's only my opinion...that Rex's ways don't work in the 2015 version of the NFL...And if I'm right there is no reason to stretch this thing out...Granted I could be wrong as well... Rex was brought in to take what was basically a .500 team and turn them into a 10-6 Playoff team...minimum...Growing pains were absolutely not expected, especially if you listened to Rex himself...The Bills upgraded at QB, RB, both OG's, TE, and CB this past off-season...Yet they regressed on the field...How is that possible if you have good coaching? The answer is...It's not possible...IF you have good coaching...The Bills did not...At least not from the Head Coaching/Defensive Coordinator position they didn't... You want to keep it the same for the sake of continuity? Fine...But understand and admit the inherent risks in that strategy upfront...This roster is going to be turned over again for the sake of scheme...We're still going to have a run 1st, three yards and a cloud of dust, HC who will build his team around a running game and a Defensive scheme that may very well be past it's time...A Head Coach that wants to stubbornly buck the current trends of a passing league...A HC that despite his reputation of being a players coach was unable to get the best out of his players...A HC who presided over a terribly undisciplined team and seemingly had no answer for it...A Head Coach that could not get his team to steal games late...due in some part to terrible late game and clock management...And in today's NFL being very good in the last 5 minutes of games is essential if you want to be a Playoff team... You want to assume that things will improve due to continuity...go right ahead...You may be right...But if your wrong this thing is going to look pretty awful in a couple years when it becomes glaringly obvious Rex must go...But heck...Maybe he'll run it into the ground bad enough for the Bills to get a crack at #1 overall and a Franchise QB...So actually...That may not be the worst strategy...
-
I really doubt Whaley gets shown the door...But the later part of that statement is pretty much what I think is going to happen...I'm quite a bit less than optimistic Rex will be able to turn this thing around...
-
Sure it does...Because if there are better candidates it's actually evidence supporting the potential move...I just don't see the logic in assuming a guy as smart as Pegs will not learn from his mistakes... And if he does make a stupid move the chances are it's not going to be any worse than what we have now... So...Anyway...
-
I don't need to be careful of anything... I firmly believe in this day and age we can do better than Rex Ryan...I'm not going to be careful in my opinion of that...There are people out there capable of turning this Franchise around...Am I confident the Pegs will find them? Of course I'm not...I'm a Bills fan for God's sake...Nothing goes right...But we can do better than Ryan...That much I am sure of... Whether or not this all comes to positive fruition I have no idea because my team sucks and has for 16 years now...

I'VE HAD IT WITH REX RYAN!!!

The way the Skins moved the ball in the first half was so embarrassing I shut the game off and went to see Episode 7 for the 2nd time in two days... -
He'll have final say on everything I imagine... Look...I get that this kind of thing has mixed results in the past...But who the hell cares what Holmgren did in Cleveland? What does that have to do with what Pegs may or may not do? It sounds like Pegula wants to bring in a proven guy to run the Football Operation and have final say over everything... Who knows if it will work or not?...But it won't have anything to do with Holmgren or any other "czar..." It will all depend on whether or not the decisions made by this guy work or not...
-
If a new guy comes in and Whaley stays...Whaley would remain the GM, and he new guy would more than likely be the President over Football Operations...It's all just words...But I'm guessing that's the way it would go down... Me too...And I admit I was wrong as well...Of course it's easy for me to admit it because I'm so used to it...

I know some of you folks are concerned about a house cleaning... I'm not...I think it's the best thing... The only thing I'm kind-of-hoping is that Whaley can stay in charge of the Scouting Department, because I do think he's a pretty decent at evaluating talent and running that side...But it's not like I'm going to lose any sleep if they blow that up as well... I just don't see how it's possible for anyone to think another couple years of Rex gives us a better chance at winning...Especially if we are unable to find a Franchise QB...Which is more-than-likely...Unfortunate as it is...I don't think Rex "has it" any longer...He could not get this team to buy in, and even though he's just about the polar-opposite of Marrone personality-wise Rex could not get this roster to take the next step despite upgrades at QB, RB, OG, TE, and CB...I think it's very much a possibility that Rex's time as a legit HC in this league has come and gone...Since the beginning of the 2011 season Rex is 32-46 as a HC...There are probably a million reasons why...But it is what it is...He's not getting the job done...Period... So yes...I hope we get a President Of Football Operations, and I hope the first thing he does is can Rex... But maybe that's just me...

TIME FOR THE FANS TO TAKE CONTROL
KOKBILLS replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best option is the best coach... It would literally be impossible for anyone to convince me there are not better options than Rex...I was optimistic...Even a bit excited when Ryan was hired...But what I saw in less than a year was a guy that talked a lot and could not get his players to buy in whatsoever...This team regressed under him while returning almost all of it's roster and adding McCoy, Clay, and Darby...Not to mention getting at least decent QB play... I've seen enough already...I just can't imagine this thing getting much better under Rex...I think his time has come and gone...Of course, considering the fact that he will most likely be back, I certainly hope I'm wrong... -

We got lucky once... I doubt very much that kind of luck will repeat itself... -
Let's assume Rex is staying, what next?

They don't grow in trees...And that seems to be a BIG problem for this Franchise...
-
I don't think it's going out on a limb by saying I fully expect a second year of Rex to be as bad, or worse, than the first... That being said I'm about 99.9% sure that's what we're going to see...

Against a 6-7 team... This is not the Pats...This is the Skins...And despite what we are seeing today they are not very good...Just an average team kicking the living crap out of our Bills... -

Teams...even teams like the freaking Redskins...can do anything they want against this Bills team now... I'm so embarrassed to be a fan of this team...
