  1. No, according to "inside info" he was cut before training camp.
  2. Another way to look at it is that the teams they've faced would have a 17-16 record if the Bills had won those games.
  3. Pats x 2, @ Giants, @ Cowboys (with Romo and Dez likely), vs. Bills plus any number of games they could slip up against. They aren't the Pats where it's a guarantee that they win vs. a mediocre team. Their loss to the Eagles illustrates that. Once the weather changes and Fitz's arm gets tired they are going to be in a lot of low scoring games that could go either way. I'm not confident they'll maintain this early momentum throughout the season.
  4. The Jets are stomping the mediocre and bad teams though, not just scrapping by. That tells me they're a good team. The stats on their D are screwed right now because of their opponents but it will all even out in the end.
  5. It is absolutely hilarious that before the season all the talk was about how Rex was going to make this D one of the best, if not the best, in the league. I don't even think most people knew who Dennis Thurman was. And now that it's not going well? Ahh, errr, uhh it's obviously Thurman's fault!
  6. Rinse, repeat.
  7. None of those guys looked good and I could bring up valid arguments as to why they sucked but much of it had to do with the talent at key positions. None of those rosters were like the one we have now. Did any of those guys have stable QB situation? Have any head coaches have lasted for a prolonged stretch without a quality signal caller? So is firing the HC the right move when there is really no way for him to have prolonged success? I'm sure the legacy of all of those guys would have been vastly different had the Bills managed to draft a quality QB. Yet we perpetually blame the HC, fire him, then rinse and repeat when they'd be better off trying to keep some sort of consistency. Take a look at Marvin Lewis. In his first 6 seasons with the Bengals they had one winning season. Yet they stayed the course and they've made it into the post season 5 of the last 6 years (and are well on their way this year.) Consistency is huge and while you can't give every coach 7 years to get things turned around you also can't be firing them every 2-3 years either. On top of it within those coaching reigns those coaches were firing OCs and DCs on a pretty consistent basis. The lack of continuity was/is ridiculous. Have the Bills O or D gotten to play in the same system for 3 or more years in the past 16 seasons? The only one I can think of is Gaily's offense. I realize I'm in the minority on this as most want to express their anger at the futility of every Bills' season with FIRE EVERYBODY! but I just don't think it's the best way of sustained success.
  8. If people want to see the effect QB play has on a top end WR look no further than Antonio Brown. He has put up less than pedestrian numbers since Ben went down.
  9. Maybe, maybe not. I'm of the opinion that if you hire a coach you give him 3 years. Otherwise you're just getting yourself into a cycle of never having any continuity. You see the effects of this with the Bills the last 15 years. Everybody wants to easy fix and if it doesn't come with one guy, bring in another! It's a tiresome cycle that many here are wanting to repeat right now. After 6 games (and a .500 record) you already have people wanting to fire the HC.
  10. The top priority is always getting a good QB. We knew the Bills didn't have a top QB coming into this season and the plan was to win with D and ST and get the running game going. So far the QB has not been the issue this season. We've gotten better play than we likely expected from it and it still hasn't been enough because of the D, ST and penalties.
  11. The Jets do not have the "same players" on D this year. They've added two top end CBs and a young stud at DE. Adding talent at the two most important positions on a D can't be said to be the "same personal."
  12. Dalton has a QB Rating of 116 and a QBR of 84. Not sure what stats you're looking at.
  13. It also helps they've been running the same systems for, what, 16 years? The Bills seem to have a new offensive and defensive system every year or two. They're perpetually learning and never comfortable - particularly on offense. We fans always rip on the QBs but when is the last time we saw a QB in the same system for 3+ years? Time enough for him to get comfortable and stop thinking. Fitz with Chan? Before that, maybe Bledsoe with Gilbride? In the last 15 years it hasn't happened much, which is one of the major reasons we lack any sort of consistency.
  14. The problem is that it's not really the same aggressive scheme Ryan is known for either. The QBs getting rid of the ball quickly seems to have spooked him so while he's still doing exotic things with his pass rush (by dropping DL into coverage and brining other guys from different angles) he's not unleashing the pass rush like he normally does. He's brining, 3, 4 and, sometimes, 5 guys. When he did dial up the pressure yesterday it generally worked, but that was nowhere near enough times.
  15. When some posters tried to temper the expectations coming into the season we were basically told, "if you cant see that this team is different you are blind." Just as expectations should have been tempered so should the "sky is falling!" type of points of view. Some struggles now arent the end of the world. It doesnt mean the season is doomed. Its like people learned how to interpret situations by listening to talk radio extremism. Its either, "we are awesome!" or "fire Rex!" Beat a very beatable Jags team next week and the Bills have a winning record overall and in the conferance. Their playoff chances took a hit today but they are nowhere near dead.
  16. Look at the threads with lots of replies. Why is it the EJ theeads have loads of people ripping him and these same posters arent ripping the D or ST in other threads? I see people saying they're unhappy with these other elements too but dont see the posts actually supporting this. The hate for the guy is mind boggling.
  17. I agree with Mario's frusteration but at the same time when given the opportunity to rush the passer I saw him taking plays off. Gotta put effort in every play if you are going to go to the media with complaints of other people.
  18. Somehow with those great seats you couldnt see the horrible ST play and a sieve for a defense? Or do you expect him to lead the O on 5 80+ yard drives to win the game? Focusing on QB play is absurd. Aaron Rogers would have had a mighty task in QBing this team to victory given how the team played. EJ wasnt great but why people are focusing on him has more to do with them wanting desperately to be "right" than in giving an honest assessment of the game.
  19. How anybody can focus on QB play after this game is amazing. QB play was the least of the Bills problems today. He wasnt great but if the ST and D show up it likely would have been good enough.
  20. Love the ST play. Fair catch at the 3.
  21. Best ST play of the day is when the Bengals puposely fall down to end the play.
  22. McCoy slips on about half his cuts.
  23. They have a higher 3rd down percentage today than they had in the previous 5 games. 5/11 so far today when they were 38% coming into the game.
