This is how you draft:
2001: RD1 Richard Seymour RD2 Matt Light
2002: RD1 Daniel Graham RD2 Deion Branch
2003: RD1 Ty Warren (our pick) RD2 Eugene Wilson
2004: RD1 Benjamin Watson RD2 Marquise Hill
2005: RD1 Logan Mankins
2006: RD1 Laurence Maroney RD2 Chad Jackson
2007: RD1 Brandon Meriweather
Those are all of the drafts from when Bill Belichik took over up to their undefeated season. Notice that he solidified the lines first and then started to add the skill players behind them. Of course it helps getting one of the best QBs ever in Round 6 but that is neither here nor there. Also notice he hadn't taken an LB in the top two rounds in these years. He picked Mayo in the first round in 2008 but none before that. He prefers experienced LB's in his system. Draft the lines and try to plug the LB corps with some vets. I'd also try and bring in a vet TE that can make a difference in the passing game and draft one high in the next draft.
Assuming this is true, and it most likely is as I don't see the labor dispute being over by the draft, does this mean Mallet will likely be out of play for us?
Why do people always make this comparison?...has Wilson even played Strong Safety at all this year? The safety positions aren't interchangeable. If anything Scott should be the one to replace Whitner.
I think the Bills to L.A. talk is just about dead and buried. They are planning on moving a team there in the next two years and unless someone can successfully predict one man's mortality then it won't be the Bills. If they do seriously think they can have a team in LA within two years the teams then they are going to have to start setting milestones in the very near future. You can't plan around bulding a team that is not for sale, which the Bills will not be until Ralph's death. I think people are starting to come to the realization of this and are starting to omit the Bills as a contender.
Either way, getting out of the Cover 2 and getting some big bodies like Troup, Carrington, Edwards, etc. is going to help in the long run whether we run the 3-4, 4-3, or most likely a 3-4/4-3 hybrid which we are basically playing now.

Pretty much just a shot at Brady but it still says a little something about Fitz if Suggs is choosing him ahead of the other AFC QB's that he played.
And now he just tweeted that he misses Cleveland. I think Donte's out, he doesn't seem like a fit in the locker room at this point. The locker room seems to be coming together and Whitner is worried about himself right now. Maybe I'm just over-analyzing the "twitter factor" but I don't think I'll miss him if he leaves at this point. I say take whatever you were offering Donte, subtract a few years and maybe a few dollars and give it to Florence.
I am pretty sure that the plan for an 18 game season is to play two additional games within your own conference so that may be a moot point. The Monday Night Football thriller the two teams had three years ago might be an argument for the Bills over Miami as well.
The best defense is a good offense. They give up big holes in the running game and they have trouble finding the RBs in the passing game. Grind Jackson, get Spiller involved. Try to control the clock and you will be able to keep it close. Really that's been the book on this defense for the past 3-4 years since the old guard of Bruschi, McGinest, etc. were replaced. The defense is susceptible to long sustained drives. They're going to score the points on O, you can't stop it. Just keep the ball away from them as much as you can.
