  1. I believe most of the responders who didn't vote for VF did not actually see him play. Yes, there there are multiple atrocius choices, but this guy's career was over before he took a snap for the Bills. The GM should have been summarily fired for that hire. He probable was fired anyhow for that wonderful season.
  2. I cannot read DJ's mind so I cannot vote. I will say that I think every minute KH practices with the first team is a complete waste of time.
  3. Did you ever analyze TD's speech patterns? Not knowing who he was, you could image he was a dumb jock made good. Only, he made bad. I always relate crisp, intelligently formed sentences with native intelligence. Forget Mularkey, his boss was in the meathead class himself, listening to his diction.
  4. We are definitely on the same wavelength on this topic.
  5. Just as an aside, tell me who was the last pup QB the Bills held on to long enough to develop into anything? Jim Kelly does count because he was experienced when he finally showed up as a Bill. No one, may be the answer. It's next to no one for sure. Kinda new territory for all of us Bills fans, wouldn't you say? Wouldn't you say that developing a QB takes a characteristic called patience. A few of us have it...more than the last gaggle of coaches did. Believe me, there are plenty of examples of teams deep-sixing a QB only to be haunted by that decision later on. I don't want the Bills to make that mistake with Losman.
  6. If JP had 24 games under his belt, your disappointment with him would have a lot more validity. As it is, the guy's got what---8 games experience? Kelly started for two seasons in the USFL before he appeared in a Bills uniform. You admit, even then, Kelly needed more polishing. So what will make you happy? If JP improves to 55% passing and a 73 QB rating does he stay? Anything less, he's gone?
  7. You know, I don't know what in Juaron's mind constitutes winning the job outright in camp. Kelly is no slouch performer, especially in camp drills. I personnally think that it will have come down to overall performance in the pre-season games. Both players ( I'm eliminating Nall from the competition) have be able to show what they can do with the first team. That may mean using all four practice games to evaluate the QB position. I think that the Bills brain trust has boxed themselves in imaging one candidate was going to appear head and shoulders above the others. I agree with others that a tie should go to the younger guy. I believe that JP gets better on a gradual slope, not by great leaps. If true, he needs more than one camp to solidify his position as starter. Therefore. what I expect is give him every start this season and see if, in fact, he has made progress by the end of the season. If he has, the QB spot should fine. If not the search goes on. But you have got to give JP the extended look to be sure.
  8. I attended the first 5 sessions and saw no sign of him. Unusual in that I recall in past SJF camps he was there early to give his pep talk. Also noticed Marv conversing the entire Monday session with a woman I could not identify. Thought it might have been Mrs. Wilson. Only bring this up because it's a deviation from the past and wondering if it's a commentary on Ralph's health.
  9. Too bad he didn't aim a little higher and hit himself in the head. Wouldn't be a loss to the football world.
  10. Indicated in a different post that early in camp, Royal seems to be the featured TE and getting a ton more action. Royal's probably had 4 times more passes thrown his way.
  11. Another thing: Eric Bassey CB (43) appears to be doing a fine job. Spikes is in tremendous shape. He is taking part in very little. One thing I did notice was that in a LB drill where the LB has to lunge one direction or the other to break up a pass, Spikes was getting there today while Saturday he wasn't. I take that as a distinct positive.
  12. A lot of the 7 on 7s featured 2 TEs. Royal (84) seems be be getting a bunch more action than Everett. He's having a standout camp.
  13. They had their pads but I didn't see or hear any hard hits. Nobody was trying to kill anyone else that I could see. Holcomb and JP shared QB duties. JP, as usually, looked better on all drills up to and including 7 on 7s. In the 11 on 11's it was very even except JP threw two consecutive inexplicable wormburners in one series. About a third of the pass plays are swings to the outside. McGahee appears more elusive this season. His running plays have looked very effective. He is going out on all sorts of pass plays. J P completed a 15 yarder crossing to sideline pattern. I had to look twice to comprehend that the pass receiver was #21. Parrish had a catch on sideline at line of scrimmage where he faked the db and went for a quick 12 yards. J P connected for 50 yard in the air strike to Evans in the 7s. Price is catching balls but most over the middle or short sideliners. I don't see the old speed. Wilson has caught everything. Aiken looked good on several plays today. I don't think WRs are going to be a problem. Final impression. Mcgahee is going to be used on all sorts of passes this season, and you know what? He hasn't missed a pass yet in camp.
  14. It's more than a 'tweek'. If it's a week or more then he's out of the competition. Which really means there is no competition left. The 3-way isn't working, for my money. The QBs jump in for three plays, two plays, one play and then wait. No continuity. I don't think that procedure was going to weed anyone out of the mix. Alternating between 2, the staff might be able to get a read. Let each alternate a series. The other method was hurting all three, IMO Now, off to camp.
  15. Price is right there in the mix. No chance for any outstanding action yet. Reminds me the play of the morning was Reed catching a 15 yarder and got clobbered by a DB before the ball arrived and he held on and made the catch. Nance looked good on one of his catches. Andre whoever, his last name escapes me, appears very quick. The TE Ciestek or whatever missed two easy ones that hit both of his hands...terrible misses.
  16. Didn't see it all; surprised they practiced at all. A lot of 7 on 7 and 11 on 11. Nall looked awful on a few passes. Holcomb looked a little better. Losman looked good except for a snap fumble and a screen play pass that got slapped back in his face. JP didn't attempt any long passes. Nall had one that was broken up and should have been intercepted. My score for the morning was Nall 4, Kelly 6, Losman 8 on a scale of 10. Spikes is there but I didn't see him on the 7's or 11's.
  17. Depends on what you define as a 'total loss'. Yes, he could script an opening drive. For 5 minutes he seemed to know what he was doing. The other 55 minutes could have been scripted by a chimp( Bonzo are you still available?). Anyone who can convince himself that taking out his best offensive player on 3rd downs gives the team a better chance to win is a class A idiot in my book. So I disagree with your premise. I believe MM could coach for a lifetime and not get the picture. He demostrated no ability to think on his feet. That's not a learnable skill in my view. And one does not suddenly see the light in that regard past age 35.
  18. I feel the exact opposite, at least at the start of it. The certifiable fools and idiots of the organization are gone, namely Donahoe, Mularkey, Clements, and Gray. IMO, what they collectively knew about fielding a competitive team wouldn't have filled a thimble.
  19. As a reply to myself just a FYI on my plan to report what I see. In previous years, I could post from the Bills store tent, but internet enabled PCs did not seem to be available last year and I had to post later from my old hometown library (Newark). Probably do the same this year though might have to take better notes. Planning on attending both sessions Friday and Saturday and then Monday and that will be it for me, most likely.
  20. Honest to God, any OC would would have better than the screwed up excuses he had to deal with...TC and MM couldn't coach their way out the metaphorical wet paper bag(A negative most commentators do not understand about Miami).
  21. Ought to get you a WCMF interview at the very least. I bow to your longevity.
  22. Consensus is by these lemming/ journalists is the Bills had the wosrt draft in the history of man, plus we have the crummy-est everything else including the oldest GM and owner. Not a high hurdle to clear for the Bills to surprise in '06, IMO.
  23. Mularkey's idea on how to motivate players and engender team spirit: a cheeseburger party! And he had to solicit advice to come up with that. MM = first class idiot who could study for 20 years and not become a competent head coach. Addition by subtraction, indeed.
