A lot of people here have said that Adams is long past his prime. I still think he'd be a good backup at the very least. What he said.

There isn't a positive way to spin this story. If he had been sixteen and had sex with his fifteen year old girlfriend the PR department could do something with that. Having sex with your sister is a PR nightmare. You have to remember that Bills fans have a lot of kids and as a parent I wouldn't want to explain about what he did. There would be a lot of people who'd walk away. JMO As for BR he's been in the league a long time and his sex abuse case isn't the only thing they know about him. I think people are more forgiving of those they know already than those they don't know. Also, Pittsburgh didn't draft him after this stuff came to light. Bringing a registered sex offender into the community is a tall order to begin with. Then add it was his sister and the order becomes impossible, IMO. His sister said it was consensual and I don't know if it was or wasn't but I'm pretty sure that's what she'd have said either way. She still had to be in the same house with him and so there is the worry she may change her story in the future. Then you have to consider the fans reactions at the road games and the home games. If this guy was the best LT to ever come out of college it might help him but he's not. He's not worth the all the negative baggage he brings with him. As of right now I don't know of any team that's signed him. I think that says a lot.

because Spiller He had to shorten it to make it fit. First off, JustMaxx, you should know by now that any thoughtful reason for optimism is still kool-aid drinking. I think you need to take into account the quality of players that were left and yet filled a need (more on that in a moment). Spiller was by FAR the best player on the board. The other guys have questions about them. Spiller has the fewest of any player taken in the first, IMO. Clausen was passed over twice by 31 teams and Bulaga lasted until pick 23 by the Packers. Buddy Nix said before the draft that the coaches feel differently about their players than the fans do. So waiting on a LT and QB was by design, given the talent level left. I'd be willing to bet that if Sam Bradford had been there that they would have taken him. The problem is there was only one QB in Sam Bradford's league in this draft. Gailey is also instituting a zone blocking scheme that requires a little bit of a different OT to execute. Bulaga probably could do it but Ed Wang is perfect for it, based on what I've read, so why take Bulaga at #9 and pass on Spiller when they could have Spiller and a LT? I have a feeling that a lot of people here would be down on the Bills if in two years they had passed on Spiller and he'd become the next CJ while Bulaga was just average. Now, as for Spiller not being a need pick, he was. Lynch is gone. The writing is on the wall and they needed another RB. They still need another one because they'll have to go into the season with three and McIntyre. It looks to me like the stable will most likely be: Spiller, Jackson and Bell. I love the Spiller pick!!

I like Brown. I thought the Bills should take him as a FA, before they drafted Spiller.

The more I read about Gailey's plans the more I like it. The players are already gassed by his playbook!

Today's Chris Brown Article
Steely Dan replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the drafting philosophy that Bill Polian had in Buffalo. Take guys who are self motivated and smart. Levy said that smart players get better and that it wasn't his job to motivate players. Having self motivated players makes a coaches job a lot easier I would think. These guys are going to push each other and set an example for the next batch of draft picks. IMO, this is why the Bills have been very selective in the FA market. They are trying to build an attitude as well as a team, and FA's that are set in their ways can disrupt that sometimes. JMO -
Washington would be a PR nightmare for any team that signs him. I wouldn't be surprised if nobody signs him. Especially after the whole BR brouhaha.

He will be playing ILB; Link Bills college scout, Tom Roth, gave rave reviews of the James Madison product, primarily regarding his character. A call to the defender just days before the draft gave Roth a lasting impression of Moats’ dedication. “I called him and I actually heard weights in the background,” Roth said. “A lot of guys, they’re enjoying the last couple days before the draft. It tells you about the kid’s character. He’s going to work. “He was one of my favorite players all year. The stats don’t lie. Sometimes you read the stats, you watch the film, and you don’t see that. But for him you see it all. Just the motor, the passion he plays with. He’s explosive, fast. I love this guy.” And as for the move to inside linebacker, Roth believes while that might be his best fit he has the versatility as a pass rusher to play on the edge as well. “Initially, I think he’s going to be inside,” said Roth. “Right off the bat he’s going to be on coverage teams until he gets more familiar, you know, with the inside position. But he has pass rush ability too. He’s got all the tools to make it.”

From his final blog entry; I walked away and later on my phone started ringing. The Giants called and said they were going to pick me next and then the Falcons called and said they were about to trade up to pick me also. Buffalo had been trying to call my phone and could not get to me. They called my mother and she starts yelling and said they are trying to get me. I hang up on Atlanta and talk to Buffalo. The Falcons were even willing to move up and get him?!!! Looks like a good pick.

Bills contacted Ravens about Gaither
Steely Dan replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not as interested in him anymore. This quote is why; Gaither, 24, said he wasn’t there for the first week because he was rehabilitating a right ankle injury that slowed him late last season. “I didn’t want to abruptly stop it,” said Gaither, who didn’t need offseason surgery. “I’m done, and I’m going to get back with the team. I’m still rehabbing the strength more. The injuries I had last year just stripped me in those areas. That’s really what I was doing.” He couldn't get there in under 24 hours and keep training with other professionals who work for the team. I don't buy it. -
His abilities as a returner and his ability to receive and his ability to get outside will keep him far from busting. JMO. The people voting for him are the same people who think the Bills draft was horrible because they didn't take an OT until the 5th round. JMO It seems they want him to bust so they can do an "I told you so".

Bills contacted Ravens about Gaither
Steely Dan replied to Tortured Soul's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh c'mon! You love it!! I wonder why the Cowboys couldn't get it done. He's a FA at the end of the year and they won't keep him. Getting something now is better than having him sit on the bench and then leaving at the end of the year. JMO -
Vote of Confidence in Edwards
Steely Dan replied to Gabe Northern's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gailey has a knack for designing offenses around his talent. I think TE is a much better QB than most people think. If Gailey can resurrect him it will solve a huge problem for the Bills. Next years QB class is much better and it also gives Gailey a year to evaluate Brown. -
There wouldn't be enough carries to go around for all three. IMO, a RB has to get enough carries to get into a rhythm. On paper a stable of Jackson, Spiller and Joique Bell looks good to me. Lynch is a douchebag.

Jags DT John Henderson released
Steely Dan replied to DanInSouthBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He would at the very least be a solid backup. 31 is not old, JMO Faneca has really lost it. I forget where but somebody posted a link to his stats from last year and he was abysmal. I have no idea where he go that from. Stroud is a very good player. That and he's friends with Stroud. No, sometimes there's three or more. I'd be willing to take a bet on that. Non monetary. -
That guy probably couldn't find Buffalo on a map, with city names on it.
-
This kid is grounded and won't be looking for the exciting strip clubs and exclusive clubs that cater to the huge egos of some of the guys the Bills have had before. (cough, sWillis) Spiller is the only guy I'd buy a jersey of without his playing one down for Buffalo yet.

Yeah, Gholston is the only mistake they've made. Whitner is better than Gholston, Lynch's first two seasons were 1,000 yard rushing seasons, Maybin has played one year and the vast majority of thinking people know he is a project and Losman was better than Gholston. Think before you post about supposed mistakes. I never said the Bills were perfect, this was about Gholston and somehow I offended a Jets fan. I really don't care. BTW, Maybin has done more in one year than Gholston has done in two.

Details of statement against Big Ben are released.

One of the cops who worked as a bodyguard for him that night is in danger of losing his job on the police force. Link Haberland said the borough solicitor is expected to present present findings on the GBI investigation this week and then the council would review it and hold a vote. Council president Robert Barone didn't agree that it would be an 8-0 vote to dismiss Barravecchio, if a vote were taken today, and said he has not polled fellow council members. It is interesting that the council president is named Robert Barone. -
Link Rex Ryan, who confirmed the move Saturday in his post-draft news conference, said Gholston at defensive end "will give us the opportunity to be more athletic at the position." In reality, it puts Gholston one step closer to the door. Gholston was the sixth overall choice in 2008, and signed a five-year contract with $21 million in guarantees. So far, it looks like one of the worst contracts in recent history. In two seasons, he has yet to record a sack. I remember a lot of people here really liked him.

There are some tough choices here. In the first 16 these guys are the ones I see with bigtime bust potential; Trent Williams: Lacks the love of the game, is lazy and doesn't seem to care about conditioning. Reminds me of Mike Williams. Jason Pierre-Paul: He is much more athlete than football player, IMO. Ryan Matthews: He's a college football one year wonder. In the second 16 there are a couple to pick from: Dez Bryant: Has a TON of talent and his transgression with Deion Sanders doesn't bother me at all. The problem I see is that he's a me first type of guy who doesn't respect the game. I'm skeptical that Dallas has the leaders to keep him in line. He would be much less of a risk, IMO, if he had been drafted by a team with strong leaders like the Colts, Ravens or Patriots. Dan Williams: Poor conditioning and weight fluctuations have plagued him in his college career and is sort of a one year wonder. I am NOT picking Tim Tebow out of the second round because he is such a competitor and hard worker. The guys who seem to bust are the lazy guys who really don't take the game seriously, Mike Williams can ya hear me? Tebow also isn't expected to do much this year and so I don't think qualifies. For the first sixteen I'm going with Trent Williams because he reminds me a lot of Mike Williams. The Mike Williams comparison also includes his being drafted fourth overall and of course the last name Williams. For the second sixteen I'm gonna go with Dan Williams. He has a lot less talent than Bryant. The guys who seem to bust to me are the guys who are unmotivated. Why teams take risks with these guys is beyond me. In the second round the two that stand out are Jimmy Clausen and Terrance Cody. Cody is in the perfect situation for himself. If the leaders in the Ravens lockerroom can't keep him motivated and in shape then nobody can. Clausen just comes across as a Ryan Leaf dickhead. JMO

Fox Sports Adam Caplan's draft steals
Steely Dan replied to JPicc2114's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So Caplan likes the Bills picks. I guess we like him, for now. Lindy's Pro Football Draft 2010 has Torrell Troup as a sleeper and calls him a value pick after the first 50 selections. So I guess he wasn't a reach. They also call Alex Carrington a sleeper as well. They also list Carrington as the best run stopper in the draft. They also call Joique Bell a Small School Stud. They also call CJ Spiller the best receiving RB in the draft. They say he will cause matchup nightmares lining in the slot or out wide. They also give Spiller the highest grade for intangibles. TSN has Arthur Moats listed as a sleeper. They also list Levi Brown as having the quickest release of any QB in the draft.
