Link DALLAS -- Bob Guccione, who founded Penthouse magazine and created an erotic corporate empire around it, only to see it crumble as his investments soured and the world of pornography turned toward video and the Internet, died Wednesday. He was 79. A statement issued by the Guccione family says he died at Plano Specialty Hospital in Plano. His wife, April Dawn Warren Guccione, had said he had battled lung cancer for several years.

What was the real plan for James O'Keefe to do
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My summary of O'Keefe's answer to the accusation; 1. O'Keefe claims he gets emails that he'll answer with "I like it" although he disagrees with some parts of the email. IMO, if someone emailed me, or anyone I could respect, anything to do with what he claims was his only intention I'd tell him there would be a better way to handle things. 2. He says he was repulsed by some of the things suggested to him and yet he never says that he emailed that person back with a response about being repulsed. (Possibly because no such email exists). 3. I like this part of his response from the link; She would have had to consent before being filmed and she was not going to be faux "seduced" unless she wanted to be. I'd really like to know the specifics of what "faux seduced" means. Does it mean that this mook, really, believed he actually had a snowball's chance in hell of actually seducing her and having sex with her recorded with her permission? Also, why were there "hidden" cameras on the boat if they had made it clear there wasn't to be filming? 4. The sexually explicit document he knows exists, he claims, wasn't going to be acted on. Why would one exist? A sick joke? 5. Izzy Santa, who he works with, seemed to believe it was within the realm of possibility for him to do such a thing. 6. He claims CNN is not fair reporting. (The following part of #6 is not from his piece, just fact.) He claims CNN is not fair reporting and yet he was found to have heavily and selectively edited the ACORN video by a California prosecutors probe and no wrongdoing by ACORN in a NY probe. 7. He says CNN issued an apology after making a mistake but says they made another mistake they won't apologize for. He also claims CNN has falsely reported on every major investigation Project Veritas has done. 8. Then he moves the debate to his pet conservative causes that he believes CNN should be covering. I have some questions. "If" what is being reported is true what do you think O'Keefe's response would be? Another question; Why did Izzy believe that this is something he would do? (trying to seduce Boudreau on a boat) Finally, why did he want to meet her on a boat? Why not a restaurant or some other public place? The subject they were going to discuss was CNN's ground rules for a video shoot. It was not anything top secret. JMO BTW, can somebody find a link from Fox News about this. I want to see if they have the seven missing pages. I can't find a link for a FN article. Thanks -
Please read the entire article before criticizing my theory, thanks. Fake pimp from ACORN videos tries to 'punk' CNN correspondent By Scott Zamost, CNN Special Investigations Unit September 29, 2010 9:07 a.m. EDT Link ...O'Keefe is best known for making a series of undercover videos inside ACORN offices around the country in 2009. The 40-year-old liberal group was crippled by scandal after O'Keefe and fellow activist Hannah Giles allegedly solicited advice from ACORN workers on setting up a brothel and evading taxes. The videos led to some of the employees being fired and contributed to the disbanding of ACORN, which advocated for low- and middle-income and worked to register voters. But prosecutors in New York and California eventually found no evidence of wrongdoing by the group, and the California probe found the videos had been heavily and selectively edited. O'Keefe's next big splash ended with his arrest after he taped associates entering Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu's office in New Orleans posing as telephone repairmen. He ended up pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of entering a federal office under false pretenses and is now on probation.... (IMO, his attempt at the Mary Landrieu office taping makes the Watergate planners look like criminal masterminds.) Here's O'Keefe's response. Because this new system automatically adds to your post if you make a post right after it, I'll get into my opinion on O'Keefe's response later. It's long. Evidently O'Keefe has a real beef with CNN correspondent Abbie Boudreau, who is doing a piece on young conservative film makers. He wanted to embarrass CNN and her. Read the full article first so you can understand my theory please. I can't post more of the article without breaking the rules. My theory is he was going to lure her onto the boat make sexually suggestive remarks, filming the whole time and then (this is pure speculation on my part) knock her out with a date rape drug and put her on the bed and tape people who wouldn't show up on camera doing things to her in an attempt to blackmail her. I don't believe the idea was to embarrass CNN as much as it was to blackmail them from running the piece they were working on. I also think some edited stuff of her being assaulted may have eventually shown up on Youtube. The list of things that lead me to this conclusion are: They were going to make a tape before hand claiming it was a gag, hidden cameras on the boat and a tripod and recorder near the bed, a condom jar, dildos, posters and paintings of naked women, fuzzy handcuffs and a blindfold. The fuzzy handcuffs, video camera near the bed, condom jar, dildos and a blindfold make me very, very uncomfortable. IMO, the condoms were to limit DNA, the fuzzy handcuffs were to restrain her on the bed, the blindfold was to keep her from identifying her attackers, the dildos were to be used in an obvious way and the camera was to record it all, edit it and send it to CNN as a blackmail attempt. The "editing", IMO, would have been done in a way to show she went along with it and liked it. If this was a "gag" or "punk'd" attempt the things listed above wouldn't be necessary, IMO. I listed below the things I find really frightening. I bolded the most disturbing things to me. If this had been merely a strawberry and champagne prank I think it would be offensive but not nefarious. I'm mystified by the need for: (look at page three of this link) hidden cams, a tripod near the bed "an obvious sex tape machine" (what exactly does that mean?), condom jar, dildos, romantic music but nothing too cliche, lube, ceiling mirror, posters and paintings of naked women, porno mags, candles, Viagara and stamina pills, fuzzy handcuffs and a blindfold. Also this from this article; In a different e-mail to Santa, O'Keefe gives her specific instructions to help him prepare for the meeting. "Please go to fedex and print out pleasure palace graphic on large banner," O'Keefe wrote, "needs to be ready by late tonight -- if possible..." Those emails contradict O'Keefe's latest statement, in which he says he did not implement plans detailed in the document. Why is that banner also necessary for the "harmless" prank he was planning? The theory on editing it to make it looks like she's enjoying it comes from their plan to overdub the N word in another effort to punk CNN. Overdubbing a sex tape of her would be possible too. I think they believed that if they mailed it to her she would be so embarrassed as to never mention it to anyone and stop working on any projects in the future. Unfortunately, I believe there is a very good chance they would have been right. The other idea I have is that this mook believed he actually had a snowball's chance in hell of actually seducing her and having sex with her recorded with his permission. One more thing. I hate it when journalists edit short subjects. The seven missing pages may shed more light on this and change opinions.

Does anyone have a link to listen to the game?
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I sent an email to ESPN radio about this and here's the original email and response; --------------- Original Message --------------- There weren't enough choices to effectively categorize this question so I did the best I could. I live in Rochester New York and our local ESPN affiliate 950 WROC doesn't carry the Monday night games. I can't find a phone number to ask them why but are there any other affiliates in the area that carry the game? Is there a free internet link to listen to the game? Thanks, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for contacting us. Thank you for your inquiry. ESPN Radio does not have the rights to broadcast Monday Night Football games. Please check out espnradio.com to see our play-by-play offerings. For live assistance with any other issue, please call Customer Care at 1-888-549-3776 (ESPN) between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m. EST. Regards, Jack ESPN.com Customer Care I'm not going to waste my time looking at the ESPN radio site. I've already done that and IIRC, their play by play costs money to listen to. This confuses me because you'd think there would be money in advertising revenue as well as rights to air the games. -
Who would you start on your fantasy team?
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, I had FJ and CJ on the bench waiting for one to emerge. In the past Gailey has used his principle back 70% of the time and I was banking on FJ winning the role. Then Gailey decided that since he had three backs he should give them shared time. Hopefully now one will emerge with 70% of the carries and I have a feeling it will be FJ. I see CJ being used on screens wildcat type plays more than traditional handoffs. -

Players listed include benched guys. We start one QB (Kyle Orton) 3 Receivers Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Breaston (Injured), Lance Moore, Roscoe Parrish (picked up after it was announced that SJ and RP would be seeing about the same amount of time at #2 receiver. I forget where I heard that), Wes Welker (bye), Brandon Tate (A lot rides on the possible VJ trade with him). 2 RB's (Steven Jackson, CJ Spiller, Fred Jackson, Cedric Benson, Peyton Hillis (smart pickup if I do say so myself.), Dexter McCluster (can be used as a RB or WR in the Yahoo league which makes him valuable at critical bye weeks.) I also have a feeling he will be getting the ball a lot more as the season progress', Clinton Portis (trying to dump for Tim Hightower.), 1 TE Tony Moaki and Marcedes Lewis 1 W/T 1 W/R 1 Kicker Neil Rackers Defense Tennessee (5 ranked Defense. Two of the first four are on bye week) 1 Any D position: DeAngelo Hall 1 DB position Jairus Byrd: (Big disappointment so far. I keep waiting for a breakout.) 1 DL position: James Hall 1 LB position: Bryan Urlacher Last year and this year (so far) are the worst I've ever done in FF. I play Yahoo! and usually two teams, but not always. In '04 I got 3rd and 1st place, '05 I got second place, '06 I got 1st in both leagues, in '07 I got first place, in '08 I got second place and in '09 I made the playoffs but was knocked out in the first round. This year in my (I'm the commissioner of the league I'm dead last). In the other I'm in the middle. -

IMO, Jackson is a safer bet but sometimes the first time a guy takes over he has a huge game. IMO, you know what you should get from Jackson. -

I have some injury issues and bye week things going on. I have Steven Jackson and they say he's doing the most in practice he's done so far in the last two weeks, but groin injuries can worsen and end a guys season. I'm kinda in the wait and see mode with him. I also like to start a Buffalo Bill on my team every week. It makes it more exciting. I think I'm gonna go with FJ because I believe he'll see more touches. It'll be fun to see which of us was right this week rippedcity. -
I have CJ and FJ and I plan to start one of them. There are no points awarded for return yards. CJ is the starter according to BB.com but I find it hard to believe they won't be giving the ball more to Jackson. Especially with CJ's return duties tiring him.

Craig Patrick: You're missing some of the best players.
Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Where did I say an idiotic statement like that? Is it possible you need to go back and read what I wrote? Cut and paste quote from IMDB Lynch was the only person to miss a LOT of time at One Bills Drive this offseason. IMO, they want guys committed all year round. -
Craig Patrick: You're missing some of the best players. Herb Brooks: I'm not looking for the best players, Craig. I'm looking for the right ones. IMO, this is what is going on at One Bills Drive. They are separating the chaff from the wheat. They are trying to get the right players. The one thing, it seems to me, that all of the draft picks and UFA signings this year is that they seem to be: smart, hard working, good football character on the field, good character off the field and tough SOB's. I'd rather have a slightly less talented guy coming out of college who's a hard worker and nasty on the field than a guy who's gotten by on his talent alone. I know some will disagree but I think if Baltimore was offered Torell Troup for Terrance Cody they'd jump at the chance and feel like they ripped the Bills off. JMO IMO, team chemistry is why Lynch is gone.

IIRC, except for QBs, the 2011 draft is pretty weak.

Jay Glazier's comments about Buffalo...
Steely Dan replied to Booger's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wondered if Glazer mentioned that. -
IMO, VJ will never be more than an average receiver on any other team.
-
There is some speculation that the Pets* are going for Vincent. If they do I don't see how that makes them a better team. They would be trading one very talented headache for one talented headache. From what I hear in articles I've read, VJ's contract demands are so absurd SD can't find a trading partner for him. If the Pets* get him then they'll probably have to give up that third rounder they got for Moss. I think Belichick's ego makes him believe he can win with anyone.

Did anybody else hear that guy on WGR yesterday?
Steely Dan replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I suggest you look at who Nix drafted after the fourth round. If you take a look at general manager Buddy Nix's track record, he is a man who builds through the draft. During his time in San Diego, he excelled in drafting superstar players, not only in the first round, but in the later rounds as well. In the fourth-round and beyond, Nix selected players such as running backs Darren Sproles and Michael Turner, linebacker Shaun Phillips, wide receiver Legedu Naanee, and tackles Shane Olivea and Jeremy Clary I think the FO is looking carefully at the players and what they can do and how they fit with team chemistry. IIRC, Lynch was the only player to miss significant time in the offseason. I think they let TE go in order to stop a QB controversy. I think they could have gotten something for him though. This is not what I expected from this team so far but I believe they will get better and I believe they will beat Jacksonville after such an embarrassing showing last week. JMO -
I think the conditional 2012 pick is due to the possibility of a lockout in 2011. So it could be a higher pick than expected. If it goes to a fourth rounder then two fourth round picks would be ok in my book.
