  1. I think it's very possible Wood will be moved to C next year and I'm sure some OL help, mostly OT, will be signed as FA and drafted. Urbik is not a sure thing and Meredith has shown more potential and ability to play right now than Urbik has, IMO. This is a young guy depth signing with upside, which is what Gailey and Nix seem to want right now.
  2. These frickin whiny baby boneheads. I'm older than the players!! Waaah! Waaah! Waaah! Anyhoo, I was talking to a friend tonight and he believes the reason the Bills kept 10 LB's is that they are, generally, the best ST players.
  3. I thought it was the Monty Python Guy and it was a joke when I read the thread title.
  4. The Bills had eight OL before signing Urbik. Cordaro Howard was the lone backup guard. The team had to get another backup guard and probably felt a better guy than what they had would be released. They grabbed Urbik and he's second string on the depth chart behind Wood while Howard is behind Levitre. (Link) It appears the Bills are going with young guys with upside for the roster. A lot of new coaches do this because younger guys aren't set in their ways and are willing to listen to a new way of doing things. Urbik is a backup that hopefully won't see the field in a game this year. He's a project. JMO I have absolutely no idea about that either. I wish I knew how people arrive at the conclusion he's better than Wood, Hangartner or Levitre.
  5. I don't get the media love for Henne and Shonn Green. I think letting Thomas Jones go last year was a huge mistake for the Jests. LT could be the LT of old for the first half of the season but, IMO, they'll have to restrict his carries in the second half. Henne has done nothing to make me believe he will be anything special. I'll take TE over Henne any day. He's being a fan. I'd rather read about 19-0 every year than the doomers who predict the end of the franchise in Buffalo and 5 win records every year. JMO 19-0 Baby!!
  6. I think The Senator gets the joke. This guy seems delusional and won't be back, I'd pretty much guarantee it. I did bookmark this thread for posterity though.
  7. I disagree, he'd be second string. The starting NT they have is very solid but I'm sure Troup would beat out McKinney. JMO
  8. Link Cody is currently the third string NT behind K. Gregg and B. McKinney.
  9. I always liked Troup more than Cody and the others. He has a great work ethic and, IMO, that is more valuable than a little more talent.
  10. Maybin being 22 surprised me. Give the kid some time to mature and see what happens.
  11. I don't think starts are as important as finishes. It looks like the Bills have bought into Gailey's methods and I believe will stick with him all year. IMO, how they finish will be the key for this team. I'd rather have them lose the first four games but keep getting better and win the last four. That would give them greater confidence going into next year. JMO
  12. The national media has no respect for Chan Gailey. If the Bills had gotten Shanahan or Cowher they'd be picking the Bills to make the playoffs. The local guys that are responsible for covering a limited number of teams, TG, JW and other media that are paying attention to a limited number of teams have a better perspective. I feel like national sportswriters who assess every team in the NFL give a very cursory glance to most teams. Chan Gailey? Never heard of him. Oh wait, he was fired from GT and KC so he must suck. The Bills will suck because he sucks based on the very limited research I've done here.
  13. I think a lot of the young talent on this team is better than most think. I believe they've found a coach who knows how to get the best from his players.
  14. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. RB knew what he was doing was wrong and as far as I know he's the reason they got all of the sanctions. If everybody is shoplifting in a store is it ok for you to do it too? This is something that bugs me. Morals seem to be flexible if a lot of others are doing the same thing. I disagree with that sentiment. BTW, the sanctions they got are well deserved and maybe a bit light, IMO.
  15. The complete inability to think things through by many on this board is entertaining. I especially like the people who get very, very angry if the Bills haven't signed a FA in the first two days of FA every year.
  16. I think vacating it is stupid. Because his actions caused the school to lose so much. I'm not convinced that everybody at the school knew this was going on. An apology for deliberately thwarting the rules and bringing heavy sanctions on USC just seems like the right thing to do.
  17. Supposedly, I heard this on the radio so don't ask for a link, he called the athletic director at USC but never once apologized while they talked.
  18. The information on each players age is taken from BB.com player page. Link The average age of the Bills 53 man roster as of 09/07/2010 is 26.5 years The positions are in alphabetical order: (Players 25 or younger have been highlighted in red. There are 24 players on the team that are 25 or younger.) The Conerbacks (5) Corner - 26 Florence - 29 McGee - 29 McKelvin - 25 Youboty - 26 ____________________ Average age of the CB unit - 27.0 years The Defensive Line (7) Carrington - 23 Edwards - 29 Johnson - 28 McCargo - 27 Stroud - 32 Troup - 22 Williams - 27 _____________________ Average age of the DL unit - 26.8 Fullback (1) McIntyre - 31 _____________________ Kickers (2) Lindell - 33 Moorman - 34 ______________________ Average age of the kickers - 33.5 Long Snapper (1) Sanborn - 25 _____________________ Linebackers (10) Coleman - 24 Davis - 31 Ellis -25 Ellison - 26 Kelsay - 30 Maybin - 22 Mitchell - 30 Moats - 22 Poz - 25 Torbor - 29 _____________________ Average age of the LB unit - 26.4 Offensive Lineman (9) Bell - 26 Green - 34 Hangartner - 28 Howard - 23 Levitre - 24 Meredith - 24 Urbik - 24 Wang - 23 Wood - 24 ________________________ Average age of the offensive line unit - 25.5 Quarterbacks (3) Brohm - 24 Edwards - 26 Fitzpatrick - 27 _________________________ Average age of the QB unit - 25.6 Running Backs (3) Jackson - 29 Lynch - 24 Spiller - 23 _________________________ Average age of the Running Back unit - 25.3 Safeties (5) Byrd - 23 Harris - 23 Scott - 29 Whitner - 25 Wilson - 29 _________________________ Average age of the Safety unit - 25.8 Tight Ends (2) Martin - 31 Stupar - 26 _________________________ Average age of the Tight End unit - 28.5 Wide Receivers (5) Evans - 29 Johnson - 24 Jones - 22 Nelson - 23 Parrish - 28 ________________________ Average age of the Wide Receiver unit - 25.2 I don't know what the average age of the rest of the teams are but it looks like Buffalo has some good young talent to work with. I'm betting dollars to donuts that the Bills become formidable for several years once they hit their stride. I find some things curious about the numbers kept for each position. There are four starting LB positions and yet the team kept 10 on the roster. There are 5 starting OL positions and the team kept 9. Also, five WR's seems a bit thin to me. JMO
  19. Yep, some still aren't showing up. This is all dibs' fault.
  20. I can see all of your avatars including Gangsta Kitty right now.
  21. I have no problem with a sports writer who has a contrary opinion, as long as it's thought out. There aren't any sports writers I really don't like except for the guys who pay a passing glance at the facts and then write an article. The scRams have a better chance of going 0-16 than the Bills. JMO.
  22. I'll make a deal with you. You can pick my avatar and tagline for the rest of the season after the Bills go 0-7. As soon as they win one game before the 7th I get to choose your avatar and tagline for the rest of the season. Deal? BTW, 8-8 forever isn't the name for a Bills fan, IMO. BTW, I forgot to confess that I would have traded a slew of picks to move up and get Ryan Leaf.
