You can only trade Peters if you are sure that Bell is the real deal or that you know something about the free agent OTs that know else is smart enough to figure out If you trade Peters to the Lions you'd have to get back their second 1st, 2Oth overall, their second 33 overall and one of their 3rds- Parrish is worth a 4th as he is a very good punt returner but hasn't shown much as WR. You are right that Detroit is a possible trading partner - with Philly being the other one- the only teams with intense needs at OT and extra picks- but even these teams are unlikely trade partners as most prefer draft picks over players- I don't know as whether this is correct thinking as many drafted players bust and often even good or great players don't really blossom until their third season- I'm often shocked what different players are traded for, Randy Moss goes to the Pats for a 4th and Dallas gives a 1st, 3rd, 6th, this year and a 7th next year for Roy Willams, what's wrong with this picture.

If a LB - I hope it's Aaron Curry first and Maualuga next

As I remember it, he was having real problems with his arm strength later in the season, his last couple years. The last season he played, I recall his arm was fine the first couple games and then he progressively lost velocity. The other thing that was going on is the quality of the offensive line had gone down quite a bit and Kelly was being hit a lot. I suppose he could of asked for a trade to another team but I think he wanted to retire a Bill.

Could Center be our Biggest problem??
billybob replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets just say we could use a better Center- I like Jason Brown C in FA and I know other people like Birk or Saturday- I wouldn't mind trading down and taking Alex Mack either. -
Teams that did less with their talent

I would agree with you that you can't buy your way to the superbowl- but would disagree if you're saying you can't get better using FA- as for building through the draft I agree but the Bills unfortunately haven't been very good in that area- and our coach is not particularly good either - so I'm not looking for a Superbowl anytime soon- but can't we be at least fun to watch and be relevant down the stretch. -

What got me looking at this was when I was checking out Owen Daniels TE and I started looking at Houston- QB with a very good QB rating, stud WR, very productive RB, and TE, highly rated DE, MLB - much hyped DT- some of these teams had injuries but you could say the same about the Bills - Edwards, Schobel, Reed, Greer and Crowell plus the Peters disaster- my point is I thought I knew where you have to be good to win- but I look at these teams and think it's a little more complicated and mysterious. -
Cleveland 4-12 Cincinnati 4-11-1 New Orleans 8-8 Houston 8-8 Dallas 9-7 San Diego just escaped being in this group- I bring this up, because these teams have the type of players, I think to myself- if only the Bills had a guy like that we'd be going to the playoffs- you have highly regarded QBs, Big time receivers, star DEs and DTs and yet not much more production than the Bills.

If I had to pick at that position - Taylor Mays or Maualuga- but I think I'd try to move down and take Alex Mack
-
you are right about the ages they will be 35 and 36 in November- they are both FAs Philly has Carolina's 1st pick- I didn't mention Carolina as a trading partner I think I did mention that Detroit could pick an OT with Dallas's pick just that that would be probably be the 5th OT taken I also mentioned that they could use other picks to move up I mention these things not because they are going to happen or even that their likely but because they are possible- because others have written that they are impossible

The point shouldn't be about saving money it should be about making the team as good as possible- my stance on Peters is pay him or trade him- I don't have time for this F#ck Peters over and make him play out his contract - and Peters saying F#ck you I'll stay home and then give just enough effort not to get benched- Peters is not what I'd want in an employee - but Ralph is not what I'd want in an owner, and Juaron is not what I'd want in a coach and the GM sucks so I guess they deserve each other- it's the Bills fans who don't deserve this sh--.

I'm glad someone has a brain in their head
-
Philly has their 1st and the Panthers 1st and they have their two starting offensive tackles going into FA- Thomas who is 35 and Runyun who is 39 Detroit - has the 1st overall pick which they may use on a QB but they are also in desperate need at tackle- they have Dallas 1st and 3rd - if they wait for an OT at Dallas spot they will probably be getting the 5th best OT and a guy who can't play LT in the NFL- they could use their 2nd and a 3rd to move up to where they could get the third best OT and might do that- but Peters is a NFL proven player and might be attractive. For the Bills there is no way I trade Peters unless I think Bell is the real deal- or I think I know something about the FA OTs that other people don't.

Pay him or trade him - the middle ground is stupid- he will hold out again and then give minimum effort- and for those of you who say but that's stupid, I remind you he's a football player with a 9 wonderlic score not a brain surgeon.

actually my point isn't so much about Haynesworth but that sometimes it might be better to spend a huge amount on a superstar than to spend the same amount on 2 or 3 lessor talents.
-
What's better Kelsay and Schobel for 13mil or Haynesworth for 13mil
-
I disagree about Schobel he was locked through 2010 and they extended him through 2013 WhyTF would you do that.

Edwards and the Offseason
billybob replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. it's not about weight it's about strength - when you don't have a big arm you need good mechanics and to be strong from the legs through the core all the way to the shoulders. 2. Juaron has to give up some control and let Edwards call his own plays- that would do good things for Edwards and get rid of a lot of clock management issues- Stop trying to be so tricky, give Edwards 5 running plays and 7 passing plays, and let him go to work- make adjustments at halftime - if there some play you just have to call, then use a timeout. -
My analysis on why Ralph kept DJ...
billybob replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I hope Ralph did was Identify 2 or 3 candidates who he thought could be significantly better than Juaron - made inquires and was turned down- It does make sense to keep Juaron over other mediocre coaches - who needs two years of transition. -
Most overpaid - Shobel, Dockery, Kelsay, and Parrish- Most underpaid Fred Jackson
-
I like Jason Brown he's big with a nasty streak and young.
-
As a player I like him but you got to wonder If he has a freaken brain in his head with stuff he does off the field.
-
I don't blame Schobel I blame Bill's management - Schobel's contract went through 2010 but they had an urgent need to extend him though 2013, they may have their reasons but it has nothing to due with helping this team win.

As I've said last preseason, undersized, over thirty, and a rep as a guy who doesn't like to workout in the offseason is a bad combination.
