  1. Interesting I did not know that. Thanks for the information. Although it does seems like Gaurds are becoming more valuable.. e.g., Cooper and Warmack going top 10. Some of the contracts signed. as evidenced by Levitre's deal.
  2. Any word on the Gilmore toe injury? HAs it been diagnosed as anything Everyone Coach/Media seem unconcerned about it, but having suffered from turf toe once upon a time I feared the worsse
  3. haha I was hoping my post/prognostication above would dissapear unoticed. So pumped to have Byrd back,
  4. Albert Breer reporting that Bills can still use the franchise tag next year if they want to. Agreement does not prohobit them to unlike the one we reached with Nate Clements in 2006
  5. I thought he might miss games yes the annual salary i s alot but on the open market he could probably fetch 20 million guaranteeed. I think more is Byrd's a competitor and just wanted to be out there with his team. I bet you parker was advocating for a longer hold out
  6. Byrd's awesome. Thanks for the link. If whats reported in the article is true: I don't see why we didn't Franchise Levitre instead, given that ithey were up against Eugene Parker. I just think the Bill's were hoping to use the threat of the franchise tag to get Byrd to agree to a below market deal. Unfortunately i don't see any chance the Byrd stays with us long term.. IMO it probably plays out in one of these four ways: Bills sign him to a one year deal worth significantly more than the franchise tag (start the process all over again next year) Agree to a contract worth the franchise tag value but one that that prohibits the use of the franchise tag next year. Byrd reports week 1 Byrd either reports week 8 (after the trade deadline) or at least by week 10 to ensure he acrrues another year of service (start the process all over again next year) Byrd is Traded I think the best option now may be just to trade him, I'd much rather see them agree to deal in the neighborhood of Goldson or Weddell (especially if the front loaded the cap hit like the 49ers did with Joe Staley) but since they missed the deadline for a multi year deal, I just can't see Byrd remaining a a bill over the long term ( I hope I'm wrong, cause he is a great safety)
  7. It seems to be that Bills would have to relinquish something to get Byrd to report week 1 e.g,, sign him to a one year deal and pay him something higher than he would get with teh Franchise tag, or maybe agree to a deal that prohibits the use of the franchise tag next year. I highly doubt Byrd would just show up week 1 under the franchise tag terms. I think he at least holds out to the trade deadline....
  8. Beerme1 I don't mind the idea of trading him, it beats repeating the process all over again. I guess my point (and I realize this is overly broad) but good organizations seems to find a way to re-sign a young player entering their prime. With regards to "Carrying an Anchor" I reckon since the bills are well below the cap so they could front load signing bonuses. Just the 49'ers did with Joe Staley,
  9. I don't really see any huge violation here. Obviously you wanted something and the bills can't oblige because of league policy or somet other reason - but the point is taken they can't give you what you want. I understand your frustration but it just sounds to me like their enforcing a deadline... there is usually a reason for a deadline (and by the sounds of it it isn't arbitrary).
  10. Are you talking about Byrd's credibility? It makes sense for him to acquire another year of nfl service time.. isn't this par for the course like Vincent Jackson?
  11. I am assuming the Bill's think it's worthwhile to alienate one of the better young players we've had in recent history, in order to prevent other players from using the hard bargain tactics of Parker and other agents who tell their players to hold out. So Byrd reports in week 10 and we start this process all over again next year. Somehow I think a better franchise would have dealt with this pre-emptively, Byrd exceeded his rookie contract by all expectations. IMO the bills were hoping to use the threat on the franchise tag in order get a discount on Byrd. It backfired, the Bills should have just signed him long term to a contract that is similar to the top 5 safeties in the league (Base + guarantees). i think its pretty reasonable to assume Byrd would of signed such a deal... Given that Byrd will only make 37% of his franchise tag salary if he reports week 10 and he faces the threat of the franchise tag next year etc.The Bills Should have PAID DA MAN
  12. I'd put QB as P4, why? "According to Walters football there were 29 quarterbacks selected in the top 16 of the NFL Draft since 1993..." Hits: 13 Busts: 12 OK: 2 TBA: 2 So right now I think we can assume Manuel has a roughly 50/50 chance of succeeding or being a bust... with that assumption at this point I'd don't think the Bill's can say forsure that won't they don't need another QB,
  13. If this is the case, can't he tell Goodell that a "friend" borrowed his car and left the bag it in the glove box? Seems like he would have plausible denaibility...
  14. One question, if the officer smelled a strong odor of cannabis? How come Nigel doesn't some type of operating a vehicle while impaired ticket e.g., DUI,DWI etc. A gues/hypoethesis* here... If there wasn't enough evidence that he had used the substance recently (before or during) driving the car, I wonder if he can plausisbly pass the stuff off as belonging to someone else. Or does the lack of DWI relate to the fact he wasn't pulled over for erractic driving... *not at all familiar with new york state laws so someone please tell me if my hypoethis isactually just me being ignorant and putting my foot in my mouth.
  15. surprised to see all the hate for twitter (coming from message board participants no less). I think it's great for current events, links to interesting articles, following smart people or funny people. Hearing opinions. What makes it great is you can follow people whose insight you value and shut out the noise. For instance as much I like CJ Spiller the player, I don't follow him on twitter because he mainly tweets inspiring bible verses (not my thing). But I do follow Chris Brown, Joe Buscalgia , Tim Graham because its a good way to stay on top of Buffalo Bills news, have it aggregated with out going to each individual website e.g., Buffalobills.com, WGR, Buffalo News
  16. Yes Racism exists elsewhere, (I'm not sure if you're making a point or just an observation..... But the simple fact that racism exist elsewhere, doesn't absolve us from trying to eliminate it from our society. As an NFL fan I'd like to see the NFL change Washington's offensive team name.
  17. FYI, EJ manuel is scheduled to be interviewed in the bottom of the 4th inning of todays Rockies vs. BLUEJAYS broadcast. If anything interesting is said ill recap
  18. Gibran Hamden is my dark horse, wait actually he is my knight in shining armor... but i digress Like everyone esle just a guess at this point, but I think Kolb will be the starter. The one stat that worries me about E.J. is the number of times he was sacked over the last two years (59 I think) that seems like a lot to me. to me it speaks to poor pocket awareness (but I didn't watch any FSU games mb it was something else e.g. bad O-line or Designed QB run/pass options etc), I think until he has that part of his game figured out they will go with Kevin Kolb (who also gets sacked a lot). Who knows though really.
  19. Part of the reason I was on board with Lovie was I thought the Bill's D-line was well suited to play the Tampa 2. I think Dareus and a Healthy Kyle Williams are well suited to be "gap penetrating" DTs, Alex Crrington as well. Mario Williams could be our julius peppers and Mark Anderson is a capable pass rushing end. Not a perfect fit but I thought the bills defensive group was better suited to tampa 2 than to a 3-4. Way down the list of pros I also totally thought Gil Byrd would come with Lovie and make it easier to resign Jarius Byrd
  20. I think the reality is we find reasons to talk ourselves into any coach. That is partly why they were hired in the first place because they convinced the Organization that they were the right guy for he job. I remember salivating over Dick Jauron's 13-3 record with the Bears in 2001, I also thought wow Gailey was 2 for 2 in making playoffs as a HC, On Mularkey I though ok here comes an up and coming OC from winning organization etc. Right now I am focusing on the positives with Marrone, but the great thing about football is we will get our answer shortly as to whether he was the right person for the job.
  21. I wanted Lovie Smith and an OC with a track record of successful running attacks like Norv Turner or Tom Cable. I thought given the Bill's roster that combination might be good enough for a wild card birth this year. But then again I thought Wanny's track record of success as a DC was going to help us this year. But I agree with the general sentiment that Marrone has more upside than a re-tread and I like some of the early stuff I have read about him.. If DM turns out to be the next Mike McCarthy or Sean Payton than the organization hit it out of the park. Hackett as the OC kind of scares me though, i understand that he was/is young and was not in a position of control his last time around with the Bills (and our personnelle sucked) but dear god I still have nightmares about that that Turk Schoenert, Alex, Van-Pelt, Hackett offesnive scheme.
  22. I know this stuff is mostly fluff/ positive spin, and won't have anything to do with our win/loss record. But I liked the story - shows some inventiveness on behalf the coaches to motivate guys to work.
  23. ObamaCare though imperfect is huge step in the right direction for America. I would of liked to see more cost controls but it helps solve the market failures that occur in Insurance markets do to information assymetery. Importantly it helps some of the poorest Americans get health care they need. Unfortunately America still has a health spending problem, but at least it expands care to the previously uninsured.
  24. Research from the federal reserve has shown QE has pushed down long term bond yields which helps supports investment. Its not earth shattering but the reality is its a net positive to stimulate economic activity, we need more of this unconventional monetary policy when you hit the zero lower bound. It still remains to be seen what will happen when QE is unwound but those predicting massive inflation when QE was first introduced have a lot of egg on their face.
