  1. To put it bluntly, a command to disarm usually means to hand over your weapons. We all know that most - if not all- of these people are pissed-off militia members, but let's not get carried away with that stereotype. Do you really think that they're all hunched down, heads poking up just above window-level, their rifles cocked, aimed, and ready to start blasting peoples' heads off? Cruz is telling them - and everyone else - to calm down, relax, and try to work this thing out. Think about it for a second - do you really think that he would win their trust by singling them out like that?
  2. I'm pretty sure that we can add 'conspiracy' to the ever-growing list of words he can't accurately define.
  3. You're the only one talking about conspiracies here, Bozo. We're just making fun of you.
  4. It should seem obvious that all Cruz is doing is trying to calm everyone down so that this can end without any violence or hysteria. You will disagree, but I don't read a call to 'disarm' in any of that.
  5. I never thought about it, but once the feds took over the internet, the telecom company I work for became part of the federal government too. I'll see if I can get me one of those fat pension plans us feds are entitled to.
  6. What do I think he meant? I believe he meant something a little more along the lines of 'everybody relax and let's try to work this out'. But unlike you, I don't presume to speak for the man.
  7. They're not terrorists any more than the occupiers or Ferguson/Baltimore protestors are, some of which were armed as well. I don't see any businesses being torched in Oregon over this either.
  8. We knew until Shrodinger came along....
  9. I like the way you divine what Cruz meant, then challenge others to agree with you.
  10. So are tobacco companies and distilleries. Please tell me that they're part of the Federal Government too.
  11. You never judge anything on its merits.
  12. There you go, obfuscating with facts again.
  13. The biggest idiots are a combination of #5 and #7 - The authors of the article, and Gatorman because he considers them to be 'newsmakers'.
  14. Indeed, that was one of the funniest things I've seen posted here in a long time.
  15. I got it last year for Christmas
  16. That's a good one too. "He just stepped right off the train...."
  17. The Twilight Zone was still an active series when I was a little kid, and I have the whole series on DVD. My favorites are 'One For The Angels' (Ed Wynn as Mr Bookman, a street peddler that saves a little girl's life by distracting Death with his salesmanship skills) and 'The Changing Of The Guard' (Donald Pleasence as a teacher at a young men's preparatory school who is saved from suicide by the spirits of former students whom he had inspired to do right by sacrificing themselves in noble acts as adults). I love the entire series, and can cite nearly every single one of them, but those two in particular are favorites because of their poignancy.
  18. That's a good article - I like the way that they break down the respondents into four groups, rather than just 'believers' and 'deniers'. The group that best characterizes my beliefs is #3 - the "Economic Responsibility" model.
  19. It became a problem the very first second it was realized that it could be used as a political wedge issue, and it will never be solved as long as it remains as such.
  20. Same for Austin, and there's not enough Republicans here to blame it on. They're positively bewildered. The real fun will start when they begin for force low-income affordable housing into places like West Lake.
