  1. I've watched it twice and didn't find it to be the least bit amusing. IMHO, that cartoon is a complete waste of time. Different strokes, I guess.
  2. Heh... You know, ages before the invention of metal detectors, Chow Chows were the guard dog of monasteries and palaces throughout ancient China. In fact, those ancient Chinese guard statues of "lions" were more likely dogs and are frequently called Foo Dogs. While some believe they were Pekingese, most scholars believe they were closer representations of the Chow Chow. (Tell, me which would you find more intimidating: a Pekingese or a Chow Chow? (BTW, that last photo is a pastel portrait that I had commissioned of my last Chow, Mercedes. She was quite a specimen... and I'll miss her and her devote companionship until the day I die.)
  3. I didn't and won't watch the video... but I can surmise what happened and it's sickening to know how some people raise their dogs. As long-time owner of what many consider a "dangerous breed", the Chow Chow, I concur with both arguments: some breeds are more prone to certain types of personalities; how a dog is raised and trained is vital in developing a good canine citizen. Chows are not like most other breeds in that they are rather aloof and not naturally trusting of people they don't know. I've raised two of them from puppies, taking them to obedience class and socializing them extensively. Still, like a typical Chow, they need to be properly introduced to people before they can proceed to ignore them as they do all their "friends". :-) That isn't to say that they would bite someone they don't know; they're just leery and keep up their guard until they are assured it's okay. My Chows will let anyone they know come into my unlocked door unchallenged; if you are a stranger and aren't properly let in, you are in big trouble. Chows are excellent watch dogs: discerning and very intelligent. I'll always own one!
  4. One should always choose the simplest explanation of a phenomenon, the one that requires the fewest leaps of logic.
  5. BINGO! Silverstein is JEWISH! Everything revolves around evil Zionist interests - get it?
  6. Oh, brother - here we go again. 9/11 was a US/Zionist plot to get us into the war they've wanted for years. (And NO JEWS died that day!) Might I suggest first applying the principle of Occam's Razor to this convoluted "theory". (That includes dismissing the first-hand observations of HUNDREDS of eye witnesses - including some who post here - who saw a PLANE crash into the Pentagon.) Might I also suggest that, if you truly think that our own government purposely killed 3,000 of its own people to trigger a "blood for oil" war, you should apply to become a citizen of Canada immediately. Why would you want to spend another minute in this evil empire?
  7. Oh yeah, I forgot that the NY Times, Boston Globe, CNN and every other MSM entity in the U.S. had the balls and backbone to print the cartoons. /sarcasm What exactly is your point???? They PRINTED the cartoons in Denmark! In the U.S., not so much...
  8. Is this free speech... or "inciting violence"?
  9. All I know is that they've recently added an asterisked section that you can't print mohammed cartoons. Spines are optional.
  10. I agree that control of ANY U.S. port should not be in the hands of ANY non-U.S. entity. Why the outsourcing? That's a good question. Not to rehash the dreaded "Union Thread", but maybe it has to do with the high cost of American labor?
  11. I won't know until the candidates shake out. It would be highly unlikely that I would ever vote for Hilary for President. (If Ted Kennedy somehow won the GOP nomination, then I would have no choice but to vote for Hilary!)
  12. Trust me, it scares me more than it does you!
  13. Ronald Reagan was the best president in my lifetime. Jimmy Carter was the worst (of the entire 20th Century, I might add). FYI, ever since I have been eligible to vote in presidential elections (1976), I have voted for every single candidate that has WON! (Yes, I voted for Clinton twice.)
  14. We could lop off their heads in front of a video camera and scream allahu akbar - and then post the videos all over the internet. Oh, wait... nobody's that barbaric.
  15. Come on... I find it hard to believe that a prayer leader would really call for someone's murder. It's probably some media exaggeration to put peaceful, benign islam in a bad light. After all, their spiritual leaders are just like those of any other religion. Here's PROOF!!!
  16. You forgot to mention Tom Brady doing the coin toss! What a friggin' Brady LoveFest joke, having an active player from another NFL team flipping the coin... when has that ever happened before? And speaking of NFL-sanctioned LoveFests... don't you think that Jerome Bettis and Tedy Bruschi ought to have a baby together or something? I mean, we just haven't heard enough about them - we want MORE!!!
  17. Not to mention that they got their fuzzy asses handed to them at home by a Carolina team that beat them in every single phase of the game. Damn those crooked refs!
  18. Aeorsmith was great!!! Stones... not so great, but "okay".
  19. FYI, I'm leaning toward Pittsburgh, too. Seattle's getting the shaft in this game so far.
  20. Nope - not a TD.
  21. Now that we have a Harvard and a Yale guy at OBD, we fans have to tidy up our grammar! The "fewer vs. less" issue is one of my English language usage pet peeves... Quick Lesson: If you can't count it, use "less"; if you can count it, use "fewer". (See example) When you feel that you know the difference, take this test to see how you did.
  22. Thanks for the most innovative and entertaining post of the day, ajzepp! Anyone who can use "replete" correctly in a sentence is okay in my book! BTW, I do think you're on to something... I trust Marv and believe that this is a good selection for the ailing Bills. Only time will tell, however.
  23. We'll have none of that "voice of reason" on this board, Casey! Now, go to your room! BTW, I agree with you. God forbid the Bills try a different approach this time after six years of futility!
  24. I actually wrote a letter to Marv Levy shortly after he became head coach in Buffalo. (I still have his reply letter somewhere in my attic back in Elmira.) Anyway, I can't remember the actual content of the letter I wrote, but it was something to the effect of "Welcome to Buffalo and I sincerely hope you can do something to turn this team around." Maybe I should pen something to Mr. Jauron, eh?
  25. My whole family was in Rochester that day for my first niece's christening. Two of my brothers left Mass at St. Ambrose Church just after Communion so they could get back to watch the kickoff. The party quickly became a combination christening/Bills-a-goin'-to-the-Super-Bowl celebration, with every single person in attendance (from Elmira, Rochester, Niagara Falls and Buffalo) a bonafide Bills fan! It was a great day from start to finish, and one I'll always cherish! BTW, my fellow Bills fans... I believe in my heart that there is a day even sweeter than that one in our future, when we'll all gather in downtown Buffalo on a late January or February day, to celebrate the Super Bowl Champion Buffalo Bills! (I'll bring the Moët!!!)
