  2. Sounds like a plan! It looks like I'll be able to do some reviews of the various projects as well once they're funded. Most of the people have gotten back to me saying I'll get a review copy to write about (iPad case, Machination game, etc). So that's kinda cool.
  3. And cheating is for....?
  4. That's all well and good, except we're not the only fans complaining about it.
  5. I'm sorry, you're going to have to turn in your Buffalo Bills fan card. We like murdering Dolphins here I didn't get the feeling that they were mocking him -- they just couldn't communicate with him, and all he was saying on the phone was umm, ummm, so they were getting frustrated.
  6. I just figure I'd rather spend the money on something I can't get elsewhere. Trust me, my wife spends a ton of money on those things.
  7. Why not just buy Keebler Grasshoppers instead of the thin mints? Cheaper ,and you can get them year round... I like the Samoas, personally.
  8. Week 2 of the feature - remote controlled paintball robot, bamboo iPad cover, TOR-like software, and a documentary on the game Minecraft. http://www.neowin.net/news/kickstarter-week-in-review-minecraft-and-more-edition
  9. I like how that number keeps ballooning. They had nowhere near 100,000 people at one time.
  10. I didn't realize recall elections were for people who decided not to vote but later realized that they didn't like the results. This will be a GREAT way to spend state funds! :wallbash: Yeah, after two weeks they came up with a great counter offer to balance the budget (rough numbers below): 1) Cut funding for some medical stuff for poor people - savings $50M 2) Change the law so WI only needs to have ~$20M in reserve instead of $50M (savings of $30M!) 3) Governor comes up with another $70M in cuts 4) Done! Great plan, no? I especially like #2 and #3. And this only covers the deficit for this year, not the $3B+ deficit going forward.
  11. The movie was great, and the lead actress was AMAZING (especially for a 14 year old!). Loved it.
  12. http://www.jsonline..../117153083.html "Hintz was reported, first by WTMJ’s Charlie Sykes, as having shouted, “You are … dead!” at Litjens, with a vulgarity inserted, after the Assembly voted to move the budget-repair bill on toward a final vote. Litjens was hesitant at first to discuss the matter — she brought it up to Republican leaders, and news leaked out from there — but she was confirming it by Monday afternoon."
  13. If Buffalo combines its power with Rochester, we can overtake first place!
  14. Based on the reviews for Unknown, I think I'm going to skip it for now (maybe watch it on video). Instead we're going to go see True Grit. I'm not much of a western guy, but this one's supposed to be good so we'll see... Going tomorrow.
  15. Looks like the "protest" in Madison is getting wacky now - more like a party rather than an actual cause. Check this guy out: http://www.jsonline.com/multimedia/photos/117079133.html#id_47181268 "Police drag a man off the edge of a first-floor balcony outside the Wisconsin State Capitol on Monday. It was unclear exactly what he wanted, but he refused to come inside unless a certain drug was legalized."
  16. Hey everyone - Many of you know that I write for a tech blog. I've started a new feature which I plan on doing weekly entitled, "Kickstarter Week in Review," and it'd be nice if some TSWers followed it on the site. The link is here: http://www.neowin.net/news/kickstarter-week-in-review-first-edition I plan on going through Kickstarter once a week and picking out 3-4 good tech-related projects to discuss. I'm hoping to be able to partner with these projects to provide reviews of the finished products once they done as well - two of the four projects in this article have already agreed to it, so we'll see if it sticks. Anyway, just wanted to share and get opinions on whether anyone here has any ideas for improvement.
  17. This is false as well. While it's true that a couple of local unions supported him, the vast majority did NOT. It's a talking point that the media has been using, but it's simply not true. Does anyone actually research anything before reiterating it as fact anymore? http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/feb/21/donna-brazile/donna-brazile-says-unions-supported-scott-walker-a/ Well, the republicans have never done it. yet... I'm not the thought police, so... If they were doing a filibuster (like the Assembly democrats did for 61 straight hours), that's one thing - I have no problem with that. But leaving the state is not part of the rules and is not a tactic that should be used. They need to hire Dog the Bountyhunter to go drag one of the senators across state lines. I don't know if he officially came out and said he was going to do this during the campaign, but during the elections I knew that's what he was going to do. My in-laws, teachers at a technical school in WI, also knew -- that was why they were saying we shouldn't vote for him. So it was no secret during the elections.
  18. No, but laying people off to reduce the $130+M deficit is.
  19. That's not the rule - the rule is that you have to have 20 senators for money-related bills -- and WI only has 19 showing up right now. If there were one more republican that was elected, this would be a non-issue. Of course the repubs COULD say, "Unions aren't directly related to finance, so we can pass this without 20 senators available," but then the dems would have a field day saying, "See, it isn't about money afterall!"
  20. It seems more like an oversight than a rule. The rule says that when summoned, they must show up... But the law only gives them the rights to go get them if they're within Wisconsin (since WI law can't transcend into other states). That's not a rule, that's a loophole, IMHO.

  22. I'd say that the republicans are at least following the rules. The dems leaving the state are clearly in violation - unfortunately the Wisconsin constitution requires them to be there, but doesn't lay out any penalties for not obeying apparently.
  23. The Republicans can come along for the ride. They just have to sit in the back of the bus How is Walker acting any different than the POTUS? Oh yeah, the Republicans actually stayed and voted, even if they lost the vote.
  24. Jackson's already been here for a week.
