  1. Speaking of stupid airline rules, this one's great! http://tinyurl.com/7z8my Specifically: CW
  2. There's some great ideas here, thanks everyone! The grandparents singing may not work out, but I might be able to get one set of grandparents to do it, we'll see... I'll need to start finding samples of all of the songs people have recommended (Amazon is good for that, with their 30 second preview). I'm also looking at some kids songs, as recommended here. Keep the ideas coming CW
  3. I have no answer to that... Aside from the fact that they're money hungry? CW
  4. The same thing happened a few years back when Dan Snyder charged for the Redskins training camp. It's not like the Vikes didn't know this would happen. CW
  5. Should I start a thread to discuss what a Terrible Human Being I am? CW
  6. Call me cynical, but this was simply a publicity stunt to get the agent some good press after all of the bad press that's been swirling around him lately. The local radio station was talking about it this morning as well, and they felt the same way. CW
  7. That's nothing. My wife and I had our honeymoon (to London) a month after 9/11. I tried to get an upgrade to first class by telling them we were on our honeymoon, but it didn't work. However, while we were on the plane, a member of the flight crew came by and gave us a bottle of champaign. Umm, couldn't that be a dangerous weapon? On the way back from London, we purchased a really nice umbrella. Unfortunately, it didnt' fit in our suitcase. We asked if we could carry it on, and they looked at their list of banned items and said, "Yes, it's not on the banned list." This umbrella was wood with a nice metal tip. Easily could've impaled someone with it. The rules are stupid and offer no real security, only window dressing. CW
  8. His dad and grandfather are both Packers fans, so that might not go over very well... Although I may slip a Bills logo or two around the video somewhere. His name's Ethan Robert if that helps anyone out. Thanks for all of the suggestions so far, keep 'em coming. I still need to find copies of the songs (or listen on Amazon to decide if I want to buy one). Thanks! CW
  9. My first (and only) nephew just turned one last week, and I want to make a DVD for the family. I already have the baptism done, and there's obviously only so much creativity allowed in that (without becoming offensive... ). However, I'd like to make a photo and/or video montage (or a mix of the two in one video). I have a bunch of pictures and videos of the baby already, I just need to think of a good song(s) for the background music. I've thought of things like Jim Croche's "Time in a Bottle," and Cat Stevens' "Cat's in the Cradle," but both of those are more for older, not younger. Seems a lot of songs are more love/romance songs than love for a child type songs (or if it's love for a child, it's after they're more than a year old...) I've thought about some kids songs (Rubber Ducky?) but I don't have a very big collection of those songs to listen to (or even use), although I'm not opposed to buying a CD or getting an MP3. Anyone have any suggestions for songs to use in the background of a baby video of some kind? Thanks all. EDIT: I suppose I could do some classical music as the background, that might work... But not quite what I was thinking of. CW
  10. Hey, I tailgated before the Bills/Packers game in '02, December, in the game that Brett Favre himself said was probably the coldest and windiest game he ever played in! Besides, this is "Family Fun Night," so I don't think the tailgating is going to be quite on par with what it normally is in Lambeau (although I could be wrong...). CW
  11. We had that happen last year on our return from Alaska. Flew around Minneapolis, diverted to Duluth and landed. Sat on the runway for 5 hours, constantly being told that we'll be leaving any time now. The flight attendants were RUDE, the air was getting stale, and they wouldn't let us deplane. It sucked... I wouldn't have had a problem if we could've gotten out of the plane... I really like United though -- back in '97 (or around there), Buffalo was hit with a huge snowstorm -- 3 feet of snow in 24 hours. I was flying home in the middle of it. We diverted to Rochester and got to deplane. The airport in Buffalo opened up briefly, and the pilot decided to re-board and try to land there, even though the crew had logged too many hours and technically wasn't supposed to be flying... They basically said, "Screw it, we're not abandoning these people in Rochester for Christmas." They got me home, and my dad drove me to Niagara Falls in the storm. Later that night, they closed the roads (and pretty much the entire WNY area) for a couple of days. If the pilot hadn't done that, it would've been a crappy Xmas. I usually fly NWA because they're based in Minneapolis, but I really like United and fly them if NWA doesn't offer a direct flight. CW
  12. She's still alive, so I'm assuming that she'd have to be the one claiming it... I thought my parents would help her fill out the form. CW
  13. I found my grandmother listed there from '92. Interesting. Called my parents, and they don't want to bother with it. Sometimes I wonder if I'm adopted. C'est la vie. EDIT: Minnesota residents, check here to see if you are owed anything: http://www.state.mn.us/cgi-bin/portal/mn/j...agency=Commerce CW
  14. There's no official forumula. It's all based on black magic. Yes, those three things factor in, but it's very vague and is up to the whim of a handful of people. There was an article about it in some magazine (Sporting News Weekly I think) that talked about the fact that some teams get screwed, even when it appears they should get some extra picks (they specifically mentioned Buffalo), and some teams seem to get a lot of picks for no real good reason (they specifically mentioned Denver). So the three things you listed is the lip service the league has mentioned, but I challenge you to find an official forumal posted somewhere. It doesn't exist. CW
  15. Oh, so I shouldn't waste my time? CW
  16. There is no rule to determine what picks you get. Someone (or a group of someones) simply makes it up... There was some anger that the Broncos received a couple of thirds this year (if I'm remembering my facts correctly) after losing a couple of non-star players. CW
  17. The 4400 is awesome; last night was great and had me guessing the entire episode (I guessed wrong... On almost every count). That "10.5" looks like it might be pretty good. The exploding buildings were cool anyway. Battlestar Gallactica was cool for the first couple of episodes, but I havn't had time to watch the rest (they're on the TiVo...) Then again, I still have about 8 episodes of Enterprise to watch as well... CW
  18. I bought it from Amazon for my wife, and it was in the mailbox Saturday. She's reading it now. I'll wait for the movie. CW
  19. I havn't had time to read about the new CBA, but you're kidding about this right? My god, the NHL is already a huge joke for letting almost everyone into the playoffs. Now they're going to EXPAND that number? And they wonder why nobody takes them seriously. *sigh* CW
  20. No, Uptown Girls was with Brittany Murphy and Dakota Fanning. It was predictable, but not bad. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0263757/ You're thinking of New York Minute, which I havn't (and won't) seen. CW
  21. Fox has got to be up there with all of their cancelled shows... CW
  22. Hell's Kitchen is pretty awful IMHO. CW
  23. I kinda liked her, and I think she's a pretty good actress, especially considering her age. Did you see "Uptown Girls?" She wasn't the same in that one. CW
  24. Right. Being salaried means he gets to leave 15 minutes early, even if he arrived 15 minutes late. Of course, it also means that sometimes he has to stay 15 hours late, even if he came in 15 hours early... Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. CW
  25. Wow, that was a short interview... CW
