  1. Actually, more people in the country can get satellite than can get cable... CW
  2. I hope you're kidding. If that were true, how is Dish Network surviving? Yes, it gets them more customers, but keeping them afloat? No way.
  3. It's not about inconvenience, it's about civil rights. We have these laws on the books for a reason. Those who are willing to give those rights up "because we might be blown up by a terrorist" don't understand what America is about. Give in, and they win. And that doesn't even take into account the fact that a 5 second patdown isn't stopping ANYBODY from doing ANYTHING. In addition, and I've brought this up before, what's the difference between the terrorist bringing the bomb into a stadium and exploding it, or the terrorist being in the middle of the patdown line with thousands of people around and detonating it there? Same result - several deaths, lots of injuries, and mass panic. It's not like someone is going to be able to take the entire stadium down with a single explosive. Also, if you take 5 seconds and multiply it by 73,000 fans, that's 365,000 seconds -- or 6083 minutes. Even with multiple gates, that takes awhile. CW
  4. When you think about how many cruises are going on at a time and how many people are on each ship, the numbers don't seem that high. It happens in restaurants all the time, but doesn't get reported as much because you don't have a high concentration of people (and most people don't report getting food poisoning, they just wait it out for a day or two). IMHO, this is a non-story. CW

  6. If not, don't bother watching.

  9. Well actually, he said that you have to buy the Slingbox, and it's your Slingbox, so he's not sharing his accounts with other people, he's just using his house to host the box... So I think ti's still legit. But remember, IANAL.
  10. Ok, what Sharpie works best?
  11. Exactly. Our cat with the bad tooth used to use her head to turn on the water faucet in the bathroom so she could get fresh water. She never learned/bothered to turn it off though... Good thing it was never more than a trickle. CW
  12. Come on, you should've switched weeks ago! I want to hear your experience with FIOS! If I could get it here, I would (paying $65/mo for broadband through Comcast. Ripoff). As others have said, you CAN get DirecTV if you have a porch/patio/driveway. CW
  13. I don't think she's full Maine Coon -- but she has a lot of the traits. She's pretty small though -- 9.5 pounds. We rescued her from some terrible neighbors when we lived in an apartment. CW
  14. The vet didn't want to upsell you anything. And to those in the thread who say cats ignore you and are of no use. My cat (with the bad tooth) is sleeping on the desk right in front of me right now; hasn't left my side since I got home from work. And unlike a dog, I don't have to take her out for a walk when she needs to pee; she can use the bathroom http://www.fezam.com/stat.jpg CW
  15. Hey, we just report on this stuff; the Rum article is from Miami, and the cell phone is from Missori. We like to laugh at the rest of the country. CW

  17. My cat thinks she's a dog; she follows me around the house when I wake up, sees me off to work every morning, and is waiting at the door when I come home. She also loves playing fetch like a dog - throw a toy, she grabs it and drops it in front of me to throw again. Thanks for the info. Her gums are a little red in several places, so I guess we need to do something. We're supposed to get a quote in the mail in a few days. I think I might talk to some other people who have cats to see if I can find someplace cheaper, as the bill does sound high. CW
  18. Did you have to pay to have the teeth removed, or did they just fall out? We use Science Diet food -- and our older cat (8 years old) is doing fine (his teeth are a bit dirty, but overall not a big deal). CW
  19. Should've known better than to ask a serious question on TSW. My mistake.
  20. We took our two cats to the vet for their yearly checkup yesterday, and one of the things the vet noticed was that on one of our cats (6 year old Maine Coon, we think), one back molar was very loose and the other was covered with tarrter. She recommended that we bring her in later to have the one tooth removed and the other one cleaned up, all to the tune of $300-$400. My wife and I have never heard of a kitty dentist before and are wonder how necessary this really is. The cat is eating fine, doesn't appear to be in any pain (although it's tough to tell with animals, since they don't really complain much), and if I hadn't seen the loose tooth, I wouldn't have had any idea that it was bad. Is this common in pets nowadays? Are there any risks to waiting and letting it fall out on its own? Or should I just bite the bullet and shell out he cash for the kitty dentist, no matter how ridiculous that sounds? CW
  21. Not really... Besides that, a broken leg isn't the same as a sliced neck, where the trainer had to literally put his hands inside of Clint to save his life. I guess I like my humor a little more, I don't know, humorous.
  22. Two people here, two story house (plus finished basement), roughly 1,800 square feet for us. CW
  23. I just checked my records, and I only paid $1,588 for both gas and electric combined all of last year. You're paying almost double, and that doesn't include gas (if you pay for that separately). OUCH!
  24. $3000?!?! That's insane!
