I didn't include those because the shopping channels actually pay the providers to be broadcast... So those channels make your bill go down... CW

You know this board has a cool feature called "private messages" where you can talk in, well, private! It's just like what you're doing now I used to watch a lot of tennis. Never a big fan of men's tennis because it's all power and not much finesse, so I used to watch women's tennis. Now that's pretty much the same as men's, so I havn't watched much in several years. CW

Ok, I can understand not going to Egypt. Didn't mean it as a bash - just that I wouldn't (and didn't) let fear decide what honeymoon to go on. You only have one honeymoon (hopefully ), spend it somewhere cool that you won't be able to get to any old time. That's my only point. If you're set on going to Disney, more power to you. Just don't settle on your big vacation. CW

Oh please. We flew one month and three days after 9/11. If we can do it after that, she can fly now. CW

Yup, here ya go: http://www.amberleycastle.co.uk/ Apparantly I was mistaken -- it was built in 1103AD, not 900AD. Close enough If you look at that picture, look to the right of main gates, the top window there, that was the window for our room There's also another window overlooking the courtyard on the other side. We stayed in the Herstmonceux. Awesome room. http://www.amberleycastle.co.uk/reservations/our_suites.html We did the "Castle Break" - two nights midweek, and it was about $1000-$1200 six years ago. Prices have gone up a bit, probably due to the exchange rate. The same thing today costs about $1,440 today according to the website. Much better than Disney, IMHO.

HOLY CRAP!!! My wife and I went to England for our honeymoon and we stayed in a real castle built in 900 AD. The whole place only held a maximum of about 15 rooms (30 people), and when we were there, there were only about 10 people on the whole grounds (staff included!). They have their own gormet chef on site, a 6 course meal that was AMAZING. We stayed there for two nights and it was "only" ~$500/night. $10k for 6 nights is INSANE.... That's Disney for you. CW

Ahh, there's no place more romantic than Disney World. You won't even need birth control; after you see the hoards of kids running around the place, you won't want to even TRY making a baby. Seriously, why Disney World when there's milllions of better places to go on a honeymoon? That part of Florida is for when you have kids IMHO. CW

The difference is that DirecTV actually listens to you when you call with an issue/complaint. Oh, and although rates have been going up the past few years with DirecTV, they actually went *DOWN* for two out of three years at one point. The whole "I don't watch it so I don't want to pay for it" argument is crap anyway. I don't watch ESPN2 at all, so I shouldn't have to pay for it (nevermind the fact that ESPN charges something like $2/subscriber and nobody complains about that). I don't watch Lifetime or O so I shouldn't have to pay for it. If you only paid for the channels you watched, you'd be paying a LOT more money. I don't have kids, so I shouldn't have to pay school taxes. CW

I might as well just burn the toys and be done with it.
-
I still have all those toys -- Star Destroyer, Death Star, Falcon, Tie Fighter, X-Wing, the Speeder Bike (it explodes when you press a button which is cool!), lots of figures, cases, etc, etc. Most of the stuff still has boxes! I should see if that stuff is worth anything... CW

Happy Birthday!!!

You should see how clear and crisp that devil smiley looks on my screen. Wow, it's absolutely amazing!

He knows Laser Disk, but doesn't know HD?!

I thought this was a thread about the Star Wars DVDs... Now it's about peeing on A/V equipment....? And has been mentioned, the only thing cheaper than the DVD player in my setup is my power conditioner (aka: big fancy power strip). Granted if you've only spent $500 on your entire TV experience, then the HD-DVD player probably isn't for you. If, on the other hand, you've spent over $2,000 (which is a relatively low number), then it's a no-brainer IMHO. CW

A couple of our local news channels are broadcasting in HD now. It's very cool - almost makes me want to watch the news... Almost. CW

HD is great for sports - but it's great for movies as well. There's a few people on this board who have an HD-DVD player (myself included). Movies look AMAZING on it, and it's only $450 for the player. If you like movies, it's definately worth it (although there's only about 60 movies right now that are in HD -- but more are released every week). That sucks... Oh well, maybe I'll rent 'em to watch once, but I guess I won't be buying. CW
-
Agreed. I'm just trying to figure out if it's anamorphic or not... If it is, this just might be the DVD to buy... Of course, I'd rather have it on HD-DVD... But that probably won't happen for a long time. Look how long it took them to release it on DVD! CW
-
These things keep getting released every 6 months it seems! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/list/B000...=51562011&s=dvd But this one claims it'll have the original movie on it... Interesting. CW

Is this an amendment we should be talking about in the US?
-
Exactly. And you know, if this was a one-time event (which it clearly is not), she'd never have been able to file charges to begin with. I can't believe the vulgar posts I've read about this -- calling the woman all sorts of names that are completely uncalled for. People should be ashamed of themselves, but unfortunately most are saying that they'd be doing the meowing too. Gotta love our society of entitlement. .

I'd say it's pretty accurate. Wisconsin is known for two things - cheese and beer. People start drinking there when they're 10 from what I hear. I think Minneapolis is 2nd on the list beacuse everyone from Wisconsin moves to the Twin Cities... CW

Don't need to call 911 (as it's not an emergency), but if you call the city police and report that your neighbor is letting their pet roam the neighborhood not on a leash, yes, that's perfectly valid. One of my neighbors is a cop and he told another of the neighbors to do just that when a third neighbor lets his dog piss on her trees. In our city at least, you have to clean up after your pet - and that includes pouring large amounts of water on the area where a dog takes a leak, to break up the acidity of the urine. The cat thing would fall under the same issue -- although the German Sheperd would as well, since it's on his property. The plice angle seems a little less drastic in my mind. CW
-
That's when you call the police and report the cat. Chances are your city has a law that they can't allow the cat out without a leash.
-
And you know this how...? Or are you saying that having pets crap in your yard is ok?
-
How exactly was she doing the harassing, based on that short little article? If the owners' cat was destroying her property and she told them to stop it, how is that her fault? Most cities have laws against allowing pets run out unleashed. CW
