  1. That's why you join the chat room and talk with people during the commercials.
  2. Honestly, you should probably just ask for Customer Retention (like you did for the TiVo) - I'd be surprised if they charged you for SuperFan if you did that. You don't usually even need to threaten to cancel - just explain the situation and I'm sure they'll hook you up. I am a little worried that all the people taking advantage of things will ruin it for everyone though... I don't mind calling if I have a problem (like the blackout I mention above), but some of the posts you read are just downright dishonest. Do you have one of the new HD-DVRs? Or you still have the HD-TiVo? CW
  3. You had to call them to waive the Superfan fee? Although their billing was a bit weird -- they charged me $33, gave me a $49 and $50 credit, then they billed me another $33 this month and will presumably do it again next month. Why didn't they just charge me $99 and credit me $99? Oh well, no big deal. As you said though, their customer service is amazing -- and that's not just some inidividuals talking, they're ranked number one and have been for a long time by independent auditors (like JD Power). I know I've told the story before, but they accidentally blacked out the first period of the Wild/Ducks playoff game a few years back. I called them up the next day to complain (it truned out that was the only period they actually scored a goal in during the entire series. ) and the woman asked me what I thought would be fair compensation. I told her a $50 credit on my bill, and she said "Done." Cable on the other hand, I had to spend 2-5 hours/day on the phone for an entire MONTH to get them to properyl connect my broadband access, and once they finally figured out what they screwed up (even though I Told them the first day I called...) I asked what compensation I'd get for my time... She replied, "We won't charge you for the month you were without sergice." Gee, thanks. CW
  4. The CW does not appreciate posts made all in bold. Please refrain from that, or the CW will have to rain his vengence down upon you. CW, the
  5. Don't you have an HD-DVD to watch on a new projector or something?
  6. It wasn't that hard to find... http://kdka.com/sports/local_story_246173637.html
  7. Can't guarantee it, but you SHOULD be able to since you're over 200 miles away from Buffalo (thus not part of the official Buffalo viewing area). In addition, since you're far away from regular locals, you will probably be eligable to receive the NYC locals from the satellite dish. I was able to confirm with Dish Network that you can get locals from the following cities: New York, Chicago, Denver, or Los Angeles and are actually entitlted to receive two for each network (ie: You could have LA and NY for NBC, Chicago and Denver for ABC, Chicago and NY for FOX, etc). DirecTV no longer has OnDemand because nobody used it when they did. IMHO, it's a stupid service if you have a DVR. If you want to watch something, record it, what's the big deal? Get the HD-TiVo and you can record 250 hours of regular programming, so space isn't even a concern. As for HD channels, here's the list: http://directv.com/DTVAPP/packProg/channel...assetId=1100084 They also carry special things in HD on channel 95. For example, during the hockey playoffs they carried the games from OLN in HD, and during preseason, carried several NFL Network games in HD on that channel. Dish Network has the following: http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/program...ing/index.shtml CW
  8. It's really fun listening to people complain, when there are two other alternatives available - Dish and DirecTV - where you'd get not only what you have now, but more, and for a cheaper price, not to mention not having to waste your time calling TW telling them that you want them to keep NFLN.
  9. That was talked about on page 2...
  10. The whole point is that they don't HAVE to do the print thing -- they can say "No, do photo ID instead." And why does Disney need to keep that info for 30 days after the pass expires? That doesn't make sense either, if it's only being used to prevent fraud. CW
  11. Which is even *MORE* ridiculous. So the people who want to resell tickets can just bypass the entire setup Disney has and use the tickets anyway. How is that a good idea? I also like one article I read where Disney said that their database isn't connected to any law enforcement database.... But their privacy policy says that they can share any information they want if it's for the "safety of our guests." I'm sure they'll hand it over without a warrant as well. CW
  12. You can have cable for broadband but DirecTV for television. I do it. CW
  13. http://cbs.sportsline.com/cbssports/schedules/page/nfl Someone posted a website showing a listing of games in HD before, but this just shows the games on CBS -- which is all you need, since all FOX, NBC, and ESPN games are already in HD. Looks like we get HD games the first two weeks. We'll have to see about the Jets, but we will get more HD goodness in week 4, vs the Vikes (it'll be even better than the first two, since FOX in HD looks MUCH better than CBS in HD. ). CW
  14. Here's a great reason NOT to go to Disney World: http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/01/walt-di...nting-everyone/
  15. IANAL - I am not a laywer (used when someone asks legal advice and you reply but don't want them to sue you ). In online chats: brb - Be RIght Back afk - Away from keyboard (can be used in combination with brb - ie: brb, afk ).
  16. In addition, modern medicine is always improving -- 5 years is a long time to get better procedures. Maybe I'm just being optimisic because I have a Spikes jersey CW
  17. Since the thread is already OT, I agree with you Jack -- especially because I try having descriptive titles. Just do a "find" in your browser to see if "morris" or "suspended" or "miami" were listed in any titles... But people don't read, mistakes happen, life goes on. CW
  18. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2568282
  19. That has absolutely nothing to do with it. That's why DirecTV can't offer as many HD channels as Dish (for example), and why they needed to luanch a new bird to do locals in HD, but that's not CBS' problem as far as I know. What part of DirecTV do you work for?
  20. As Denny said, it's not true. How can DirecTV broadcast something in HD that is recorded in SD? It's physically impossible Blame CBS for being idiots and not buying enough cameras! CW
  21. What about this one? I've heard it's pretty good.... http://tinyurl.com/g4f6 CW
  22. Just make him play poker against you. You'd get the money anyway, and he wouldn't feel like he's accepting anything. Sorry, OT
  23. CBS is ridiculous. Buy some more HD cameras already...
  24. I thought this was going to be the baby's first Winnie the Pooh bear when I read the link. Now I'm sorry I clicked... Where's the puke smiley? Although I'm not sure I trust the site... And why would they sell it on eBay?
  25. I still don't see the big deal... I have 150 hours on my TiVo (and the one in my basement can record 250 hours of SD programming...), is it that big a deal to record something that I know I want? DirecTV had Stars on Demand for awhile, but nobody used it so they killed it after a few months. I guess Sat people don't care about On Demand. *shrug*
