  2. I have a funny story along those lines. I'm on my assocation's board, and last year (before I was on) they sent out all these (illegal) dish regulations, one of which said "You can only have one dish on your property." I argued most of the points and the lawyers were looking them over again. Fast forward to today's board meeting. One of the people on the board hates dishes and again said we shouldn't allow people to have more than one because there's no good reason to have more than one. I explained that some people may want Dish and DirecTV, there's some foreign stuff you can get as well, etc. She then got snippy and said, "Well if we allow all of this, what's to stop someone from installing a 20' tall ham radio antenna then?!?!" I just looked at her and said, "Because it's not a satellite dish." The look on her face when I said that was priceless. The president of the board snickered a little too, which probably didn't help matters. Sorry, had to share CW
  3. Thanks. We ended up taking her to a different vet that was recommended to us by a friend (and was local in this city, instead of a 60 minute roundtrip drive). Ended up costing a lot less (about $300) and they seem to have done a good job. Thanks for asking BTW - the black cat picture is of the cat that had the dental work done CW
  4. Thanks. Just a hobby and I have a long way to go, but it's fun.
  5. No, I took this photo at a friend's wedding. No kids for me (yet?). CW

  7. I'm just saying that's how the original ruling came into effect. Not saying that everyone had it in there for that reason.
  8. Actually, he doesn't have to. Condo association CAN'T disallow it. http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html They can limit where the dish it put to an extent, but they can't ban them. If you have a patio, driveway, etc, etc, you can put one up regardless of whether they want it or not. If you own the house, you can even put it on the roof. What usually ends up happening is you put up an ugly dish on your patio (with a big long pole that looks ugly as sin) and all of a sudden they don't mind you putting it up on your roof anymore. ). This all came around because the cable companies, in an effort to stop people from getting dishes, were paying associations and landlords to include "no dish" clauses in the leases and regulations. This was found to be anticompetitive, and therefore the FCC stepped in and made these rules. So yes, you can get DirecTV if you choose. Next. CW
  9. Care to explain why not? I bet you can, the question is in the difficulty of the installation.
  10. Actually, that's not true. You CAN get it, you just choose not to get it through DirecTV. That's like saying "I can't listen to Howard Stern on my radio, I need to buy Sirius, so they're in violation of the law." Not true, You can get three games/week from "free" TV, you can get a fourth one from ESPN if you subscribe, you can go to a bar to watch it, you can listen to it on the net, you can listen to it on Sirius, etc, etc. I doubt this will fly. The NFL has a lot of clout, and has a lot to lose if this does go through (for example, they'd have to pay serious damages to DirecTV since the contract is for something like 700M/year for 5 years). As Cincy said, it's just a case of politicians wanting to get their names in the paper, making it look like they're supporting the the little guy. The government shouldn't be trying to regulate who can broadcast NFL games. CW
  11. That, or Skynet is going to become self-aware....

  16. Actually, if you count net yards passing, we have a little over 100 total for two weeks (not 100 yards each week)...
  17. What's wrong with it? (i've heard it's nowhere near as good as TiVo...)
  18. Did you actually read what I quoted?
  19. You mean JP is going to leave and get a Superbowl ring too...?
  20. *looks at your registration date* What, 6 months ago? Sorry. Just saw Phillip Rivers make a play. Anyone else think we have the Ken O'Brien of the draft?
  21. JP is a big problem because defenses know that he doesn't seem to be able to throw more than 10 yards downfield (partly because of OL, but even when he has time he can't seem to hit them - even last week, we severely underthrew two bombs, one which was caught because Evans was SOOO wide open). Not sure if Nall would be better, and I agree we need an OL upgrade (been saying that forever), but if you think JP is doing fine, I think you're mistaken. BTW - if JP doesn't take the sack, we probably hit the fieldgoal.

  24. Oh... I guess I'll return the Sony Pearl then...
  25. That's true. And as you said, it's better to weed those people out now. If he's not willing to go the extra mile when he's new, why would he do anything extra after being there for awhile?
