  1. I disagree completely with this statement: "Shawne Merriman, LB, San Diego. "I think I play harder for 60 minutes than any player in the league,'' Merriman said afterward. It showed. Two sacks, two forced fumbles, one pass defensed, three quarterback pressure, six tackles. Looks to me like, even with the quarter-season missed with the steroid ban, Merriman and Julius Peppers will duel for the NFL's defensive player of the year award." How can a guy suspended for being juiced seriously be considered for player of the week let alone NFL Defensive Player of the Year. The guy was suspended for doing steroids for crying out loud, it's not like he was pulling an Irvin and high on coke. CW
  2. Replays showed that the ball wasn't tipped at all. I don't see how they thought it WAS tipped, to be honest with you. They missed a PI two or three plays before that as well, when JP threw to Evans on the right sidelines. And between those two plays was the Price force-out (causing his heel to land a couple inches out of bounds) that wasn't called a force out. The problem with the "play better the rest of the game so a call doesn't bother you" crowd is that with all the parity in the league today, it's relatively easy for the refs to affect the outcome of the game with a couple of calls. Nobody's really blowing other teams out (for the most part). It just doesn't happen frequently in the league anymore. So when you get screwed on three out of four plays, on a drive that could've tied the game (or put Buffalo up by 4!) it's hard to ignore. And that's ignoring the other bad calls during the game. A call here or there makes you think "mistake," but three bad calls out of four plays makes you think "screwed." And people who know me know that I'm the one usually defending the refs! CW
  3. Actually, the NFL doesn't lose any money, even if you convince 100 people to drop the Ticket... DirecTV pays the NFL every year, regardless of the number of subscribers. Nice try though, I guess...
  4. No, the original poster just doens't want to pay money for Sunday Ticket because he thinks the league is fixed or something.
  5. Don't you mean: "Stupid Merriman... you poopy-head unsportsmanlike-conducting poop!!!
  6. I couldn't see it. The announcers couldn't see it. The players didn't see it. Nobody at the stadium saw it (as evidenced by the boos after being shown on the Jumbotron). I don't think it was clear at all - and in fact I didn't see any tip. CW
  7. Yeah, no kidding. What's also crazy is that we're not in HD next week, even though CBS pushed the game to 4:15! CW
  8. They didn't show it, but they did show one of them landing during the half-time montage.
  9. Did you actually SEE the game? When you're screwed on THREE OUT OF FOUR PLAYS in one series, that's a little more than "bad calls" IMHO.
  10. Yup, that was the key. I don't mind the rule that if your toe tocuhes down first, your heel does too (I havn't heard that rule, but whatever). The fact was that he was pushed. I normally defend the refs, but I have to say that we got screwed by the refs on three out of 4 plays on a drive that would've tied the game (two non-PI calls and the non-pushed out of bounds call on Price). It was completely absurd, and that's not even considering the other plays mentioned in this thread. Would we have won? Who knows. We couldn't stop LT all game and that was a big key. But we were hanging with them and we got screwed.
  11. I fail to see how the refs are DirecTV's fault... Using your logic, you shouldn't watch NFL Network, ESPN, CBS, FOX, or NBC anymore either... And since Disney owns both ESPN and ABC, you should avoid ABC and Disney parks as well... DTV doesn't care if the Bills are in Buffalo, LA, or Smallville, Kansas,
  12. Did you read the part about a cheaper car (or public transportation) and higher deductables, as examples? I'm not saying that going to the game is a BETTER decision, but it IS a decision. I had a similar discussion with someone at work a few weeks ago. He was commenting that he didn't understand how some people in the company could afford really expensive cars. I told him he could afford one if he wanted to, he just chooses to spend his money on other things (bigger house, for example). He didn't seem to get it... CW
  13. Everything in life is about choices. You COULD go to the game if you wanted to, you just choose to spend your money elsewhere. There's nothing wrong with that, but I hate when people say "I cna't afford to go." If you wanted to, you could make sacrifices in other areas to be able to go (or do whatever you want, for the most part; cheaper car, higher deductable, etc). CW

  15. The correct answer is "buy a pre-lit tree." That's what we did a couple of years ago -- the thing has a ton of lights, looks awesome, and takes no time to put up (except for decorations) CW
  16. I second TSO -- especially the first album (although I like them all). I also second the Xbox360...
  17. I have the first few compilations -- awesome stories. Jaka and apricot brandy... Snice you're a comic book guy, do you know if "The Tick" was taken from Cerebus? The "superhero" in Cerebus looks just like the Tick... CW
  18. Weird Al, Straight Outta Lynnwood. Or how about an Xbox360?
  19. I had a lot of good teachers, but here's a few of the really good ones: Mrs. Greenman for high school English (I had her in 10th grade, but she did editing on some of my short stories even though she wasn't my teahter in 11th and 12th). Mrs. Spears, 1st grade teacher. Surprisingly, she even remembered me when I was in highschool and recommended me for a scholarship. Pretty cool when your first grade teacher remembers you 10+ years later (in a positive way! ) I had some other good ones as well, just can't remember their names offhand...
  20. That's me I just registered for the test... Not only do I have to fork over $500 (which I'll hopefully get back since I plan on passing), but the test is on December 17th -- the day we play the Dolphins!!! So if I fail, it's a double whammy.
  21. But then you won't get double or nothing.
  22. I'm not at work, I'm in class and it doesn't start for 20 minutes.
  23. I think you misunderstood my post -- I never said it wasn't on the up-and-up. No way would the casino rig it IMHO. I was just commenting that he had a better chance to win on a coin flip, since his odds of winning on the roulette table are slightly less than 50%
  24. Especially since he'd have better odds just flipping a coin.
  25. Is everyone on the Wall going to chip in for the "Fez lost $500 on a stupid test" fund? If I fail, there'll be a lot of
