I dunno, I would think it'd work, but not sure. Try IE? -

Try again? Try IE? Or better yet, download mIRC, go to the website to get the servername, port, and channel, and use mIRC to get in. Need help with that? It's not as hard as it sounds -
Ch 4 may get dropped from Time Warner?

Ok, it is a bit of a blanket statement, but I still think it's mostly true -- the CSI shows probably get more viewers in the LIN markets than the Bills do in WNY, you know? It's a slice of the puzzle, but probably not the major factor. -

Not sure why you have two, but you only need one. The dishes that you have in the picture are single LNB dishes, meaning they only point to one sat. You can get a 5-LNB dish nowadays that's much larger, gives a better signal, and is less prone to rain fade - it points to all 5 sats at once: http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-directv-parts.php It's kinda crazy that the installer put up two dishes instead of one dual-LNB/triple-LNB/5-LNB dish (depending on when you had the install). It should work the same as a dual-LNB dish (now obsolete), but it's kinda lame... -

It's not going to happen because I don't think this is simply a Buffalo issue -- I get the impression that it's all LinTV channels negotiating with TWC (in lots of markets, like Austin, Green Bay, etc). Despite what people here think, it has nothing to do with the Bills and that won't be a factor in getting anything worked out. -

She quoted their pricelist where it was $59 with or without HD. Not sure if that comes with the receiver, etc, etc, but that's what the pricelist said. Of course that means people with SD are paying for something they never use. Then again, I know TWC doesn't offer much in HD compared to DirecTV/Dish (and I believe they have less than Comcast too), so maybe that's why it's currently the same price. -

Yes you are! -
That is interesting. However, Reed was on some bad teams to start his career too. Plus, the league is more pass-happy now than they were before so that probably helps explain some of it as well.

The installer has to come out (unless you want to argue a lot -- you will eventually win, but it's probably not worth it). However, as soon as the installer comes, you can tell him "Give me the equipment and get out, I'll install it myself." He'll be psyched because he gets paid for the install, but doesn't have to do anything Just an option. -

That made me laugh. You know you don't have to put it on your house -- you can put it on a pole and run the cables from the pole. Of course, you still have the "stupid saucer" -

This is an old topic, but how is the NFL wrong? It's their product, and they can say, "If you want to offer our channel, we want you to make it available in this way, otherwise we won't sell it to you." TWC said, "We don't want to do that." NFL said, "Ok, we won't sell it to you." What's the issue again....? Look at it another way. If you made a great painting and you went to sell it to a gallery and said, "I only want this painting to be put in the front lobby with this fancy gold frame, otherwise I won't sell it to you." The gallery could say, "Sure, we'll accomodate that!" and you've made the sale or they'll say, "No, we want to put it in the back room with this black frame instead," at which point you can say "I don't want to sell you my painting." Nobody's wrong in either case. People act like watching football is their god given right. -

You can definitely get cheaper than $595 for setup. And if you seriously have more than 6 TVs that all need HD DVRs on them, then I think you might have a TV addiction and should seek help You should look into modulation (talk to Spider, he has a slick setup) instead of buying an individual receiver for each TV. It'd be MUCH cheaper because you wouldn't need to pay the monthly receiver fees for as many TVs. Of course the fact that you ended with "My sister has sat and hates it," leads me to believe you're a troll. But in case you're not - your sister must not have the dish aligned properly. Check the signal strength on a sunny day. It should be in the 90s. If it's not, the dish isn't aligned properly. In addition, the new 5LNB dishes seem to resist rain fade very well. We had a torrential downpour a couple of weeks ago that knocked out the power -- but my HD DVR never lost signal (yay for the UPS it's plugged into ). My signal strengths are generally around 95-100 on a sunny day. -

The thing to confirm is that you have at least a 90 (if not 95-98) signal strength during GOOD WEATHER on most of the transponders. That'll help prevent rain fade. Yes, you'll still lose signal for a couple of minutes during a torrential downpour, but you shouldn't lose it during most rain storms. I've only had trouble with snow once (and DirecTV gave me $200 for my trouble) -- and with the new dish, I don't think it'll ever be a problem (it's mounted much higher and isn't as curved from the looks of it). -

Yes, you do have a choice. There's a 90% chance that the trees actually will NOT interfere with your signal at all. The dish points UP, even though it doesn't look it. As an example, Nervous Guy said the same thing before -- "Trees, can't do it." Installer came out and said, "Trees, can't do it." I convinced him to get a second opinion from a real installer. He came out, installed it, everything's worked ever since (last I heard). I have a neighbor who actually has the dish pointing directly at the roof (or so it looks) -- but they obviously get a signal. I keep meaning to take a picture and post it here. And an antenna is a choice -- just one that you're not willing to do. As Rush says, "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." -

That's actually not true anymore. Lots of people use antennas to get free OTA HD. Antennas aren't like they used to be. -

There are no such thing as HD antennas. All antennas can receive HD signals. Don't buy into the hype and spend more for an HD antenna. Otherwise, you're right -

LIN's doing this in ALL of their markets, so yes they would. CSI (and all the spinoffs) are on CBS, as is Survivor. These are some of the most watched shows on network TV. -

1950's technology....? Antenna's are actually very common, especially now with all the HD signals in the air. So instead of spending $25 on a Silver Sensor antenna (or similar), you'd rather B word and moan that you have to go to a bar...? http://www.amazon.com/Philips-PHDTV1-Silve...8838&sr=8-1 -

I love the caption that says "you can use an antenna," and it shows two pictures of satellite dishes. -

You don't need to find a DirecTV bar (BTW - almost all bars that do sports are DirecTV bars). You can use an antenna just fine. Or switch to DirecTV or Dish. One option is nearly free, the other two are (most likely) cheaper than what you pay now. -

That's not true. After 2009 you can still use an antenna. The ONLY difference is that you need a digital tuner on your TV. If your TV was purchased in the last ~4-5 years, you probably already have a digital tuner. If your TV is HD, you definitely have a digital tuner.
