Trying to pick a honeymoon destination!
Fezmid replied to PushthePile's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It's not exactly what you were asking for, but I'd suggest going overseas -- London, Italy, Germany, something like that. It's easier to do as a honeymoon before you settle down, have a house, kids, etc, etc. My wife and I spent 2.5 weeks in England -- most in London, a day in Bath, and then a couple of days down in Amberley. We stayed in the best "hotel" ever -- a converted castle. It was amazing: http://www.amberleycastle.co.uk/ -

Most networks would not receive enough viewers to be profitable. How many people do you think are going to pay for Game Show Network or SpikeTV, for example? Not enough to survive, I'd bet. In addition, costs for the popular channels would end up rising - because they're now getting money only from those who subscribe to their network, not from everyone who subscribes to cable/sat in general. Read this article - it explains it better than I can. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/11/24/business...;pagewanted=all -
What about people who drive too fast and get into frequent accidents? More accidents = higher health costs. I don't want to pay for that. And what about motorcycle riders? That's far more dangerous than driving a car. So that's living a less healthy lifestyle, so they should pay more medical too. But those are "hard" to quantify. It's easy to pick a magic number out of the air and say, "If you weigh more than X pounds, you pay twice as much!" Seriously, is a 350 pound guy that much more expensive to care for than a 349 pound guy?

If they had an "a la carte" billing service, there probably wouldn't be 15-20 channels left. -

Keeping shopping channels like QVC actually REDUCES your bill, as those stations pay the cable/sat companies to air them. So don't complain about it, and enjoy the fact that millions of people actually watch and spend their money on those channels for some reason. -
You can buy it if you want - it's being put up in the police auction in the near future. Just fly to Duluth.

I saw Zombieland a few weeks ago - it was extremely funny. Go watch it, you won't be disappointed. -

Firefly actually had more people watching than Fox realized. Back then, they didn't use DVR stats at all -- but TiVo announced that Firefly was the 2nd most TiVo'd show -- with roughly 800,000 people recording it. Add that to the 1-1.5 million people who watched it live, and you have a decent amount of people. Unfortunately, networks never looked at DVRs back then. In addition, Firefly gained a lot of acclaim after it was canceled - meaning Fox did a crappy job advertising it. Oh well, life goes on. And I agree with you on V -- don't screw it up! -

Writing an original show does not guarantee people will watch, unfortunately. See Firefly as the perfect example - the show was perfectly written, had great acting, was a lot of fun... And then Fox pulled the plug after a few episodes. That said, I am really looking forward to the remake of V that's coming out next month. -
I actually just bought "Replay Media Catcher" from Applian Technologies. I used it last night and it worked great. There's a free demo (only captures 75% of the stream), and if you buy it, the cost is $40. However, if you use the code RAVBB, it's only $25. In addition, they have a 30-day money back guarantee. http://www.applian.com/ CW

I live in a relatively new house - built 7 years ago. I'm always looking for ways to save money (like setting the thermostat to 59F when we're not home ), and a coworker mentioned the 3M insulation for windows. I remember my parents used to always put plastic up over the windows as well, but I wonder if it really makes that much of a difference. I'm thinking about buying this as a test: http://www.amazon.com/3M-2144W-Indoor-Pati...4726&sr=8-3 Just wondering if anyone here uses this in cold climates, and whether it actually does help with anything. I feel cold coming from the windows/doors, but I'm not sure if it's just radiating cold or if there are actually holes/drafts that are coming through - probably a combination. Does the stuff actually help with the radiating cold? I'm assuming it's just for drafts. Just wondering how helpful it really is and whether I'd make my money back.

Ok, let's look at this objectively. At the end, the article says: Earlier in the article, we saw this: and So in Shawnee County, they are now charging $543 extra, and in Colorado Springs, they charge $863 extra. That means in Colorado Springs, they paid for the extra equipment with only 12 uses. In Shawnee County, they paid for the extra equipment with only 18 uses. So if they can pay for the retrofitting with so few uses, why do they need to charge so much extra...? Gotta say that I'm on the side of the people saying that it's discriminatory. If it were only slightly higher, say $100-$200, then I might understand it, but this looks like nothing more than a money grab. And based on previous responses I've read on the board about the subject, I'm guessing the officials feel that they can get away with it because many people who aren't obese seem to have no problem hating on people who are.

Clements fails to meet lockdown hype
Fezmid replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was actually telling one of my coworkers today (Vikings fan) about how ridiculous some of the comments are on this board, and mentioned the knocks on Winfield and Clements, stating that I thought they were both excellent, but that some fans here disagreed. The Vikings fan thought the Winfield comments were ridiculous. A 49ers fan was walking by my cube at the same time, and said that he's still psyched that they have Clements -- said he's one of the best guys on the defense and thanked the Bills for letting him go. -

All of the Vikings fans that live here would tend to disagree with that statement. Winfield went out last week, and the defense collapsed against Baltimore. -

That Pizza Hut Wing Street commercial with
Fezmid replied to Just Jack's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Fixed. -
I agree it was windy - but was it straight in one direction, or was it swirly like RWS? Hard to tell
-
I'm not sure how much "into" and "against" the wind there was yesterday -- passes and kicks looked miserable both directions. The Jets missed a kick "with" the wind at the end of the first half yesterday... I wasn't there, but I thought it looked pretty gusty/swirly from the TV.

So has anyone been brave enough to try the new wings? I don't think I am. A friend of mine asked me about the commercial -- the advertising must've worked on him, because he wants to eat them. I told him I doubt they're fried and in that case, they suck. Even if they were fried, I'm sure they'll still suck there... -
As are your posts.

It was 2 for 16 before the ill-advised screen pass. And a 9 yard rush. And two first downs because the Jets defense held him. Not a probowl game, but hardly a non-factor.
