  1. Hmm, this article was written in 2006: http://www.mariasguides.com/2006/12/27/the...o-button-mouse/
  2. So is it "new" in the last 5-6 years? My Photoshop class was in 2002 or 2003, and it only had 1 button in the computer lab. No explanation for this past weekend except as you said, maybe the mouse was broken. *shrug*
  3. Where did I "openly congratulate" anyone on their Zune...? Here's what I said in that thread: Now back to this thread, nowhere did I say that Steve wasted his money. Maybe you should read the original post -- he asked for OPINIONS ON THE IPAD. And since he asked for OPINIONS ON THE IPAD weeks before it was actually released, he obviously wasn't looking for first hand experience. And if you'd actually read other people's responses, you'd see that I'm not the only person saying that, IN THEIR OPINION, the iPad is overpriced and a waste of money for what it does. OPINION! Steve likes his purchase, and I'm glad he does (just like the Zune post!), but that doesn't mean everyone has to share your OPINION. I've used the iPod Touch, didn't like the interface, so chances are, IN MY OPINION, I will not like the interface of the iPad. Is that so tough to understand? I can't believe you're still freaking out about someone's opinion.
  4. BF is asinine.
  5. She had a 3 button mouse plugged into the laptop, and the right mouse button did nothing in Photoshop.... Maybe it needed a driver, or maybe the mouse was broken. Dunno...
  6. I was reading this article, and I'm confused about the 5th amendment: http://www.hudsonstarobserver.com/event/article/id/38165/ I thought that you weren't required to testify against yourself, but didn't realize it allows you to avoid testifying at all. In this case, a father was shooting at his son, and the son is invoking the 5th amendment and refusing to testify against his father. I've never heard of that before...
  7. I don't know, can it? I took a Photoshop class a few years ago at a local college, and all of the Macs in the room (the cheese grater ones) had a mouse with only one button... In the photography bootcamp I just finished, the instructor had a Macbook. A student wanted to use a mouse instead of a touchpad, so she plugged one in -- and when I was playing with it a little (helping another student), the right and middle buttons didn't do anything in Photoshop.... So based on those two experiences, I just assumed most/all apps don't use more than a single button.
  8. IN MY OPINION, iTunes is complete bloatware that takes over your PC. Now maybe it works better on the Mac (I've never been able to get the hang of a computer with only one mouse button, so I'm not a Mac fan -- although I do LOVE that it's UNIX under the hood). But on the PC, it installed stuff I didn't want (Quicktime, for example), and just in general messed with the PC. Why don't they let me transfer music/videos/etc through a non-proprietary method? Media Monkey works well for transferring music, but last year when I had the iPod Touch, you couldn't transfer videos with it...
  9. I don't think I've ever seen one...
  10. Twins. Going to see the new stadium on the 18th.
  11. This isn't really about bandwidth hogs though. This is about controlling what you can and can't do and can crush other businesses in the process. For example, Comcast can give their VoIP solution top priority and give services like Skype or Vonage 10kbps -- forcing you to use their VoIP solution or avoid VoIP altogether. Now if that happens, it may be considered anticompetitive and stopped that way... Also keep in mind that a lot of the infrastructure was paid for by tax payers... As long as the ISP doesn't screw people for their own financial gain (ie: like the example above), I'm not as concerned with it.
  12. That's not entirely accurate - there are some cases you can put your laptop/netbook in that TSA allows to pass through the Xray machine, and sleeves work as well. http://www.tsa.gov/press/happenings/simpli...procedures.shtm
  13. Ok, I'll admit that this isn't as noble and, arguably, as important as the MS walk that Rock does every year, but here's my pitch anyway. My wife and I adopted a dog from the Humane Society last June. I've never had a dog before, but she had dogs while growing up. I'm still not 100% sold on dogs... They're much higher maintenance than cats, have to go outside to pee in the cold, and ours barks everytime a stranger walks by the house... But overall, he's still pretty cool (and he came pre-programmed with some basic commands like sit, stay, drop it, leave it, etc. ). So in order to support the Humane Society, my wife wants to do a 5 mile walk on May 1st to help raise funds and awareness for the program. I realize that times are tough, and by all means don't donate anything if you can't afford to. But if you have a few extra bucks you don't need and are an animal lover, please consider making a donation to our team. If it helps your decision, we named our dog Buzzy after the best pizza/wing joint in Niagara Falls. Here's a link to our site. Thanks for looking! http://events.animalhumanesociety.org/site...&fr_id=1110
  14. bump
  15. The Newseum is really an awesome museum. One of the best places we went to when we visited DC last year.
  16. Umm, because they don't have to hire baggage handlers to do anything with my carry-on bag...?
  17. More importantly, I can't believe nobody threw him under the bus in the board room for that!
  18. Now that you mention it, I tried placing a call this weekend and I received the message, "Congestion," on the phone. I sent a text message instead, which was fine in that situation and I didn't really think twice about it. But I don't recall that ever happening to me on T-Mobile. I'll have to keep an eye on that...
  19. My company just switched from T-Mobile to AT&T. I haven't noticed a difference between the two yet, although we've only had AT&T for a week or two. IN MY OPINION, they seem equal.
  20. Careful, Scott doesn't like this type of OPINION; you're obviously a moron because you're comparing the ultra-cool iPad to a stupid netbook/laptop when they're obviously completely different things.
  21. The original poster asked about COMMUNITY INTEREST in the iPad. Specifically, he asked: So I'm not allowed to give my thoughts on a topic that the OP specifically asked about just because I don't agree with you? And guess what -- I used to own an iPod Touch. I tried using it for a month before I realized that I just didn't like the interface and hated iTunes (although you can use MediaMonkey to load tunes to the device which was a little better - but still not great). I gave it to my sister because I didn't want it anymore. Do I need to preface all of my posts with, "IN MY OPINION" to make you happy? Fine. IN MY OPINION, the iPad is a waste of money. It doesn't allow you to run multiple applications at the same time. It doesn't have support for Flash. It doesn't have a physical keyboard (which, IN MY OPINION, is a deal breaker). It doesn't even have a webcam so you can't use video Skype on it. If you buy the 3G version, you can't use the SIM card from your phone - you have to buy a micro SIM card. On the bright side, it did spawn this awesome MADtv sketch:
  22. Honestly, I'm a bit skeptical of how he found all of those immunity idols last season without any assistance. The cynical part of me thinks that the producers tipped him off because they knew he'd be good for ratings (and he did need to save himself with them). Why didn't he look for any of them this season? Heck, even with the clue, it took him a long time to find it. This is a "reality" show, afterall... Even if they did help him out, it's still entertaining.
  23. I meant the part whree you're asking for a PM instead of laying it out here so that someone else with a similar question will know the answer later...
  24. The iPad is a waste... It costs a ton compared to a netbook (you can find a decent netbook for less than $250!). I don't see the alure on the iPad when compared to that....
  25. Don't want to share your knowledge with everyone else...?
