  1. I just wish more of these guys had a true 'team' vision of their career. Don't they know these massive contracts hurt the team big time? Miami will have trouble fielding a consistently good team for a while because of the Suh contract. All of these QBs who got gigantic contracts--did they care at all when a bunch of talent left because of them? It's just frustrating. 90 million is a lot. Is 10 more million really going to be the biggest difference in your life? 15 more? I hate to say it, but Tom Brady taking smaller contracts and restructuring frequently to help the team is pretty impressive in this day and age.
  2. Can anyone with a medical background and/or strength training/PT background attempt a theory as to what is going on with NFL players tearing ACL seemingly so often? What gets me is that the ACL tears happen frequently on non/low contact plays. My thought is something I've seen others propose--that these guys have become SO big and SO muscular that their inertia when going one direction and then switching quickly to another creates a load that is too much for the knee to handle. It can't take the force of the change of direction and then tears. Now, I have no data that shows there are more ACL/knee ligament injuries than back in the day, but when OLineman used to be 240 pounds it's just a totally different scenario for the body. I also liken this to Tiger Woods' situation. He had already had knee troubles fairly early in his career because of the sheer viciousness of his swing, especially the snapping motion of his left knee through impact. His trainers/doctors told him not to get above 180 lbs because his knee couldn't handle the load, yet he ignored them and bulked up to almost 200 lbs, having an especially large upper body. Are these guys TOO big and muscular for their own good? Also, this got me thinking. I'm surprised that sports doctors haven't yet come out with a way to provide reinforcement to the ligaments of athletes, especially in the knees, in an effort to prevent tears. These guys and girls are absolute beasts compared to athletes of years ago, yet the vulnerabilities of the joints and ligaments remain unchanged. Yes, the treatments are better for tears, but I just wonder when someone will be proactive about things like ACL tears and actually create procedures to help prevent these injuries.
  3. Don't hate Fred because he's better than you at life.
  4. Comparing Tyrod to Tuel is kind of ridiculous though. Tyrod has an impressive college resume at a big time school. I think Tuel was 4.24 as a starter at Washington St. Two totally different types of prospects.
  5. You either develop your own QB and help make him great or you just play the lottery on randomly finding the savior. Even high 1st round QB picks often do not work out. You need to get people in place who know wtf they're doing and train a young prospect to reach his potential. Everyone who is just frothing at the mouth over cutting EJ is apparently hoping for lightning to strike for the Bills like it did for the Pats with Brady. Andrew Luck was the ONLY guaranteed prospect since Peyton frickin Manning. We're talking 2 guys in 20 years. Everyone else was a project in their own way. There's a great chance Winston and Marriota will NOT be franchise QB's. So what say you, people who can't wait to see EJ cut? Just draft QB's year after year and give them no time to learn the position, just hoping to find a hidden gem? Yeah, great plan.
  6. Orton wasn't an 'emergency' signing. Plenty of reports indicate the BIlls had been coaxing him out of retirement since the Spring and trying to get him in. So it was simply the continuation of the original plan to develop EJ behind a veteran. Who said he had 'great' games? He looked good, and yeah, I know what I'm watching, thanks buddy. He also looked like a very young QB who needed MORE playing time.
  7. How is that not up for debate? He played FOUR games. He did well in the first two and bad in the next two. Fairly common for a young QB still learning the position. Marrone pulled the plug on EJ because he thought a veteran like Orton might get him another W or two, raise his stock for his coming battle of wills with Whaley.
  8. Yeah, so unfortunate. This year could legitimately have changed the entire course of his career/life. I just hope he's able to come back and pick up where he was instead of fading into obscurity and out of the league because of bad luck.
  9. I think they felt Kiko could have pulled up as Hoyer was beginning his slide. It was too close to tell--to me it looked like Kiko had reached the point of no return going for the tackle and Hoyer slid just a moment too late. It wasn't a great slide by him too, as it made for an awkward position as Kiko hit him.
  10. People are sleeping hard on the Bills this year. The only ones who have an inkling of what this team could actually do are the ones who have invested a little time looking at all the pieces have been falling into place. So that's basically none of the national media.
  11. The even more potentially exciting thing about TT is how much he could improve from getting real game action. What he is now probably isn't what he'll be further into the season. He seems highly motivated to improve and that could bode extremely well for this team.
  12. I agree. Just imagine if TT is the hidden gem a lot of people think he is. Could be very similar to what happened with Seattle. Did anyone really 'shut' Sammy down or was it really more QB issues even giving him a chance to make plays? I remember against Revis he was burning him left and right but was either a decoy or just wasn't getting the ball.
  13. Chan was figured out pretty quick, though definitely limited with personnel. Gilbride was basically run out of town.
  14. His fumbling problem is kind of overblown. He can definitely fix it.
  15. Haha why would you say that? Statistically he was the best QB last night
  16. This just isn't true. He wasn't checking down, they were just shorter routes. So? He was also playing with backups.
  17. I still hope Leo gets back ASAP. He's solid.
  18. And you can finally say "I told you so!" Then your life will be complete.
  19. These are my thoughts exactly. Don't know what some here were watching.
