  1. Unfortunately for Buffalo it is in NYS. Pennsylvania has a relatively business friendly environment which NY lacks. For that reason Buffalos trend line will be unlikely to ever catch Pittsburghs.
  2. I appreciate your apology. And, I agree that the office of the Presidency always deserves respect, but there is a difference between the man in the office and the office itself. I both disagree with and lack respect for the man, however I respect the office he holds more than him.
  3. I am no fan of Rush Limbaugh, and I have no hate for the man. I simply don't respect him, his beliefs or the people who blindly follow. I respect the Presidency and my country, both of which have been weakened while he has been at the helm. Your vitriol is disgusting, the ability to publicly state disrespect for authority is what makes us all unique as Americans. My disrespect is not hate inspired, simply derived from fundamental differences in the way in which my president and I view our world.
  4. I would like to see the hash marks moved out beyond the college marks. Just far enough away from the sideline to allow for a legal formation on the ensuing snap after a play which finished outside the hash marks. This would change the kicking game more than narrowing the goal posts, as it would make short kicks disproportionately more difficult than long kicks and would force teams to decide between centering the ball on third down inside the 30 vs going for 1st down.
  5. One of the things I like most about hockey, is the refs clearly make a point to have penalty minutes fairly well balanced. You nearly never see a game where penalty minutes are as lopsided as penalty yards were yesterday. Sure there are bad calls in hockey, but for the most part they equal out at the end of the game. Holding and use of hands are two of the most controversial calls in American sports. The infractions occur on nearly every p,ay and yet they only seem to draw flags on pivotal plays. Maybe that's just clouded retrospective vision, but to me it seems holding is called disproportionately on important plays.
  6. Those highlights remind me how fun Flutie was, how good our jersies used to look and how lame the pats/carroll were for running the ball in for two. What poor sportmanship, the refs litterally gifted them the game two plays in a row and then they chose to disrespect their opponent who left the field in disgust.
  7. They are two seperate questions. ie. 48% of 1-0 teams don't make the playoffs, and 78% of teams that are 0-1 don't make the playoffs. There isn't a missing 25%.
  8. I saw the flag flying in 134, nice work. I'm glad they were able to win for you and your dad.
  9. You're right, that is the problem with the idea, games could last a while. However, in the playoffs games lasting too long isn't really a problem. I do tend to agree though that the current system works and is simple, so leave it alone.
  10. The point is 28% of the time only one team touches the ball. That might be OK in the regular season, but in the playoffs 60 minutes of football shouldn't be wiped out by a coin flip in 29% of the games. I had an idea earlier in the season that I had forgotten about till last night, which I think would keep the excitement of sudden death. While at the same time eliminating the disappointment of an opening drive game winning field goal. The issue I have, which I think many share, is that so often kickers decide the game before both QBs get to touch the ball. My simple idea is that in OT a team has to win by 4 points in order to win the game. That would mean that each quarterback would get to touch the ball once, unless an opening drive touchdown is scored in the OT period. I have no problem with sudden death OT ending in a touchdown, I just don't apply the same value to a FG as TD. In regulation a TD is worth 6 (plus PAT) and a FG is worth 3. Why is it in OT they are both essentially equal to 1? So, by setting the game winning threshold to 4 the first team to score a TD worth of points (6) will win the game. If a team scores a FG, then a TD plus an extra point will be required for the opponent to win the game. If two field goals by one team occur prior to any score by the opponent, the winning team clearly showed football superiority in the OT period. edit: I would also like to eliminate the coin flip and always give the ball to the away team to start the OT period.
  11. has a playoff overtime game ever required more than 1 extra period?
